  • Inertia the reluctance of a object to change its path of motion due to its weight.

  • he kinda sounds like trip from facade :O

  • man i hate itialian wedding soup....thought you might have a nice spin on it or something, but alas its still boring....

  • Stupid inertia

  • Now I have the idea how to make an italian wedding soup.

  • It is like 90 percent Pakistani kofta curry سالن كوفته I made it it is really delicious.

  • BLEACH

  • in the northeast of my country, they don't have wedding soup in weddings, they exchange knuckle sandwiches between families! XD

  • The meatballs are supposed to be pork.

  • What did u do with the vegetables and meat?

  • my least favorite soup

  • Ive never made it with a beef stock..will have to try it some time..

  • Italian wedding soup... yummy!! :)

  • i had this soup at a VERY fancy italian resturant in cincinatti and the chefs were putting on a show in the middle of the eating area and a guy was chopping oinons and the knife fell and stuck in his shoe. it looked like it hurt but he juss took it out wiped it down and kept cooking like nothing happened.lol(:

  • I worked at a pizza place. We had premade Italian Wedding Soup, which tasted bad. but this recipe sounds great.

  • I always though how remarkably similar Italian and Korean foods were. They have similar sauces, preserving methods, and etc...

Maybe because they were both positioned on peninsulas...with people of same temper.

  • "Stupid Inertia."

    XD

  • OMGoodness, I love this soup. I had my first taste of Italian Wedding Soup from Progresso Soups. LOL, I thought it was spinich. I will make this for sure now, only with Kale.

  • one tip though... put the onions chopped in half with the meat in the pot at the beginning so they get a burn on them and i mean so they get black on the bottom but not too much. then chop em however you like. thats how i make this soup.

  • So...I've always seen this made with spinach, could I use that?

  • It looks like the best tasting shit. Love the fact you shared this recipe with me and YouTube

  • Hi! I like your recipes but on this one I have to say something: I live in north-eastern Italy near Venice and I never seen this soup, neither in weddings nor in normal life.. Maybe it was common in the '40-'50 but now we don't eat that soup at weddings at all..

  • @nefermaatra He's talking about the North-eastern United States and Italian-Americans.

  • fuck me that looks tasty.

  • I voted for you! You're awesome!

  • 3:33 looks like a heart at first when he pours it in... :)

  • Its not inertia, its friction.

  • @JTshoot you're right but, it really doesn't matter as long as the soup taste good :P

  • never been to an italian wedding but it looks good to me, dude make some wasp food

  • c'mon. stupid inertia... LOLOLOL.

  • ahhh..i remembered when i first tried this soup..it was DELICIOUS!

  • if I don't have food processor, can I just uhm... chop the meat manually? will that compromise the tenderness of the meatballs?

also, can I keep the stems on kale as they are crunchy and nice to bite?? or that's gonna change the taste?

  • @suddensparkles it doesn't need to take all day, John just chose to include instructions for making beef stock in the video. I made this recipe for dinner tonight using a home-made glace from the freezer, took about an hour. Or you can do as you suggest and use a top-quality store bought beef stock. Anyways it was dee-lish-us!

  • God this guy is good Good GOOD. I never miss a video or recipe!!!

  • what about tonys sausage tease?

  • meatballs look good

  • this is what I'd call a labor of love... that soup takes all day to make... no wonder they only serve it at Italian weddings. Sorry, I'm cracking open the Campbell's can on this one. However, I am going to try the meatball recipe in my next spaghetti tomato sauce endeavor. xxx John Good luck with the food network entry

  • hahaha "stupid inertia"...gotta love physics references! lol. Love your videos and have given a couple recipes a try to GREAT results. keep 'em coming!

  • I want some soup now. Need it to warm me up, its cold here.

  • This question is sort of unrelated, but what is the name of the piece of music that is heard in the background of all your videos? :)

  • Inertia's alright. xD

  • I adore your videos.

  • Mmm, it looks yummy!!

  • definitely seems like a very rich soup :) i also like all the elements you put. can't wait to try it.

  • come on, stupid inertia

  • When you dropped the pasta in, it made a little heart shape! ^_^ Appropriate for a wedding soup, I'd say.

  • @PaisleyGiraffe Yeah but then it broke D:

  • @doctaword Oh dear. The soup predicts divorce... XD

  • LOL your inertia comment..

  • Chef John, is there anything that can be done with the mirapoix (spelt wrong i'm sure) Once it has been cooked in the stock? Or does it have to be thrown away? It always seems like such a waste to me. Thanks for this recipe. I have only had this soup from a can. And im looking forward to making this!

  • i was drueling

  • It looks like matzo ball soup, Could you make a recipe?

  • mmmmmm

  • I have to disagree with you Chef John, it is friction, static friction to be exact. Who cares though this is a cooking video not physics class :P

  • Looks delicious!

  • What does kale taste like? Is it bitter like rocket? I am not sure they have kale here in australia, or if they do, it might be called something else..

  • @arose4lee yeh they have it in oz, my mum gets it, don't know where from.

  • i need to unsub...i always watch you at night for some reason and you get me so hungry!! xD

  • can you make some vegetarian dinner ideas / recipes for all us vegetarian out there :) xoxox your amazinggg

  • next time how about make china food?

  • do you think maybe dropping in quenelles would work too instead of meatballs?

  • Chef John, inertia is not at fault with the meatballs and the plate.

  • lol!!! hahahaha! stupid inertia!

  • PASTINA!!! My mom gave me that when I was a baby

  • YUMMY!

  • chef John explain to us the difference between chicken broth and chicken stock.....

  • @bbqguy44 Chicken broth is made strictly with meat, stock is made with bones.

  • Fantastic as always, Chef John!

I do, however, have a Food Wish that I desperately hope you can fulfill, and I'm not sure where else to request it... Would you consider doing a Poutine recipe for us??

A friends mother used to prepare the most AWESOME poutine with a heavy pork gravy, and I'd love to see your spin on it! Traditional or otherwise.

    Please? :-)

  • @TheAlmightyFSM i love poutine too!!!

  • i love this soup thanks for the video

  • That pasta is so cute.

  • Stupid inertia LOL that is hilarious!

  • I love your videos! This is actually a recipe I have been dying to learn. I ate it once in a nice restaurant and loved it, never found a good one since.

  • i usually just eat this soup from the can.. maybe ill give this a try..

  • goodlord, i'm hungry.

  • John, this looks so delicious! Love your personality too - your videos are fabulous :)

  • Oh man this is my FAVORITE soup!

  • It's not inertia that's keeping the meatballs on the plate :)

  • Great recipe, chef!

  • chef John, what can you do with the stuff from making the broth, that looks like a meal in itself?

  • @captphil4

Boil up some potatoes, mix it all together and make a potato pancake with it.

    Or an irish mash.

    Just remove that bone lol

  • iv'e been wanting to know how to make this soup thanks chef john

  • my mom calls it escarole soup were not Italian but my mom was adopted and raised by Italians. so we had a lot of Italian food growing up.

  • BREAKING NEWS: They narrowed the Food Network videos down to 18! I think there are 15 finalists, but not sure. Feel free to leave a comment on the Food Network channel telling them thanks for making me a finalists. Thanks!!! You guys are the BEST! youtube.com/ foodnetwork

  • @foodwishes Hell yeah.

  • @foodwishes Awesome, and way to go, Chef John.

Just wanted to make sure you all see there are 4 tabs on Food Network's channel, one is called "Vote". Page 2 in that list, you'll find Chef John's video, and a thumbs up/down icon... Select it, vote thumbs up!!! :)

  • @foodwishes Your gonna win john ;) im telling you

  • @foodwishes no, you are the best :)

  • just like nona use to make it

  • i'll stick with cambell's select. costs much less, tastes great, and doesn't take half a day to make.

  • @JeffsDangler

    That's not FOOD

  • do you throw away the onions celery carrots?

  • Thanks so much for sharing! I am tired of canned soups! No corn syrup and natural! Yum

  • star pasta?!?!?!?!? HMM!

  • @olimoe5 yes...although for me, I like to put the meat in before the pasta. Otherwise the noodles get mooshy by the time the meat is done. But I think CJ likes his meat more rare than I. It all depends on your preference.

  • Great recipe! I'm looking forward to making this soup this fall.

  • Great recipe....I think I'll try it this week!

  • You really enjoy Garlic in everything huh?

  • @anarchyXarsonist Garlic SHOULD be in everything.

  • chef john is just an alias.

foodwishes is actually matt groening's youtube account.

  • @MrMoonshiner you might be right, "stupid inertia" is exactly something Homer might say... although he would probably add a "D'OH" :D

  • Chef John! Try a PRESSURE COOKER! There is no reason to simmer for 5 hours.

  • one fo my favorite soups! any chance for a zuppa toscana?

  • @brooksjedi I make Zuppa Toscana. It's very easy! Chicken broth, italian sausage, garlic, onion, kale, cream, salt pepper.

  • it looks weird but i bet it tastes great as you said

  • @foodwishes I agree with your replies, but the level of rudeness you have gone to is not really appropriate, and is a bit of a turn off.

  • damned inertia. gets me every time. this may be the best one yet, chef. and your comedic timing? flawless. (don't let that go to your head. you still haven't made the food network qualifying rounds...;)

  • Cool recipe, a good dish to do variations and simplifications on :)

  • Meatspin in the blender? :0

  • would this work with lamb mince?

  • i love you more and more :D

  • What a dick this guy is when he answers comments.

  • @JimboJ1981 he's being sarcastic BTW.

  • @JimboJ1981

One of the drawbacks of text comments is you can never judge a person's tone or context. Judging by the wink symbol he put at the end, I think the comment was supposed to be taken sarcastically.

  • @emphamiz1 It's been on more than just one comment. I realize the need for everyone to defend him, I'm also a fan, but let's keep it real here and not hide behind the guise of sarcasm on the internet.

  • @JimboJ1981 Your mums dick

  • @JimboJ1981 I don't think Food network will be too fond of that :)

  • looks like it will take days to make but worth it ")

  • You are the best :D

  • it looks like turd balls in there. lol

  • Inertia helped remove those meatballs from the plate, a combination of friction and suction was what kept them on the plate.

  • @NigelGriff Do you know what "inert" means?

  • @LiLxGHiT369 ......Yes, i know what inert means. I'm doing biochemistry as a degree

  • @NigelGriff I don't think you have to know, haha. Inertia has to do with physics

  • @WindUpFun Ironically, it has a lot more to do w/ biochemistry. Some thing that is 'inert' is a substance which will not chemically react with anything under normal circumstances. Still, it was gravity that helped move the meatballs... haha

  • @WindUpFun Congratulations, you know what every other 10th grader knows.

  • In Romania we make something similar but the meatballs have a lil bit of rice in them, but no bread crumbs. Thanks chef john for the recipe.

  • I LOVE LOVE Italian Wedding Soup!! owo Now that I know how to make it...I'm HAPPY~ X3

  • You're my hero! Thank you for doing this!

  • I love Italian weddings, they usually give so much food that you feel sick afterwards. Wonderful feeling.

  • @Nallal The term Italian Wedding Soup I believe refers to the "wedding" of meat, greens and pasta, not an event...

    I could be wrong.

  • @Involved6

    I think you're right.

  • @Involved6 Perhaps. I do distinctly remember eating soup in various Italian weddings but whether or not it was this specific soup I don't recall. Something to look out for, I guess.

  • Dang. i would have used the hole box of pastini.

  • is it me or is chef john really rude when he reply's to comments but nice in the video 0.o mixed personality?

  • @TheSpidy1995 It's you.

  • your responses to people might have been better then the video

  • i love how shef John pwns the noobs

  • Kale? I guess that works, just used to escarole.

  • i liked the vid the moment u said "stupid inertia"

  • it's actually not inertia, it's the surface tension...

  • @lianghaochen nope

  • they dun look goood.....

  • wow the i see a heart in the thumbnail

  • thank you so much chef jon! my cousins ex-boyfriend made this a while back and i loved this but didn't catch the name of the recipe or how to make it! YOU MAED MY FOOD WISH COME TRUE!
