Thank you live09 for you kind comments. It is a little difficult for me to give you a solid answer since I can not see the dog and you in action. However the simple answer that I know is the most common reason is that the dog is confused about the signal for her to start the search. Unfortunately this can mean a few things. I have a book that may help where I discuss some of the issues. Other than that I would have to see the dog.

Nice stuff!!! I work with a detector dog at and International airport.... we seach trollies full of bags on a daily basis... Im a new handler and only been working with her for 2 months. The problem is she doesn't start searching when i do the fake throw with the tennis ball and command her to 'find it'... She's instead focusing on my hand when i try to detail her... She's an advance dog and work great with the other handler but not with me... Do u have any suggestions?
