Ric turned proper heel a few weeks later after Backlash which was in April 2002. This footage happened sometime in April 2002. Austin beat up Anderson and then fought Flair about a month or so later roughly either late May or early June.

Austin and Hogan would have been a million times bigger than Austin and Flair- I don't see why Austin, who was one of the top draws, should have had to do matches with Hall and X-Pac after having the biggest storyline of the year not long before, and apparently neither did he, as the creative team's stupid ideas were one of the reasons Austin left the company that year. Sometimes I wonder if the WWE writers are on crack, Vince used to talk about giving the fans what they want, but he never does.

Their styles aren't compatible and it'd likely be a crappy match....from a technical standpoint. From a fans standpoint it'd be good no matter what.

Rocky's way faster that Austin and he and Hogan had a killer match at WM18, like you said not for technicality but for pure fun. Rock n Hogan have different styles of performing and they pulled off one of the best shows of 2002, I'm sure Austin n Hogan could do it, maybe not now but 5 or 6 years ago. You're right, Hogan would be way too slow now to keep up with Austin but I'm sure they could come up with something cool. If they did, I'd pay to see it!

Vince DID set up Hogan vs. Austin. In fact Hogan directly challenged him on TV (Smackdown I believe) and Austin never followed up on it. The reason is that the storyline team wanted Stone Cold to lose to Hogan and Wrestlemania X8, and Austin said no. Instead, they re-worked it so Austin faced Scott Hall. Best Stone Cold Stunner I've ever seen, but it was pulled off on a terrible wrestler. I want to see Hogan get his chin cracked in half over Stone Cold's shoulder.
