heat is distributed in the phat ps3, while in the 360 the heat stay at one area.

You have to consider the surface of the old PS3 and xbox are reflective which are very hard to get a accurate reading. Are you using a FLUKE?

@ForensicThermal This isn't a store bought thermal camera. Its just the imaging core. Its a part we were able to get working, its pretty old.

i hope people here realize that the overall high temps is a good thing it means that the heat is being taken away from the cpu and gpu and being taken away from the console like the slim must be pushing a lot of heat out, btw notice on the xbox arcade the dense color in the middle where the cpu is unfortunately we cant see the gpu temp because it is being covered by the dvd drive

The game test on this video means very little unless each console is running the same game. Even then there will be performance differences between the 360 and the PS3.  There's no way to accurately do a thermal test between consoles unless you average data over many games. The amount of heat generated is largely unimportant anyway. Unless the console turns off or fails due to overheating, it means nothing.

@Vylsith2 The point is to show how heat leaves the system, not to prove that one is actually hotter than the other. They are all running the same game, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

Oh please, we all know the 360 is gona red ring eventually. Though i don't mind because i make some extra cash fixing them for my friends, that includes the elite. I still have my 1st gen PS3 never had a problem, purchased a slim when it came out and running jst as good!!!!!!!! When i see an Xbox i jst hear that song in my head(Every day im hustlin, Every day im hustlin, Every daya, every daya, Every day im hustlin) Way to go microsoft, keep slangin.

@annythepip Yeah i got the 120gig ps3 slim so i bought the niko intercooler<--spelling? and mine seemed hotter also BUT try buying a cheap stand from ebay or make ur own and stand it vertical. I hooked the intercooler up and put my slim vertical and i can tell that helped cool at least 50% above just ps3 fans alone. The exhaust air is about 80-90 degrees but the "ps3 shell" is cool to the touch. MAKE SURE TO REMOVE DISK AND UNPLUG BEFORE MOVING IT THO.

some has been concernign as ps3 slim was running hot, now seing this tis not hotter has the heat going to a difnert location, now ther seem to be between teh heatsink and the bluray driver a heat trap on the slim.

I bought a 360 in augusr 2008 & it hardly heat. I have the Falcon actually & it's very intriguing how hot is a jasper actually...

At least MS didn't change the size of the heatsink nor the case which is a good thing.

Not feeling heat is a bad thing, that means heat is trapped in the inside.

All processors run ATLEAST 30*C, same with GPU. If the vents arnt hot as hell then you have a problem.

Notice the PS3 slim in this video, how nearly all the heat is on the outside vents, while the rest of the systems the heat is on the processors, etc.

That shows that the PS3 SLIM has the most efficient cooling design.

you can get ps3 games for absolutely free. Just Google "ps3 zappy download" - click the first link. My friend and I downloaded games it and it's and they are super! There are ton's of ps3 games on the "ps3 zappy download" website!!

PS3 (bigger) is actually the one whit most heat. You can't see the heat reflection on the topside But you can see it clearly see, it's freaking hot under side, and that's not a bit hot, more heat inside than the slim, the slim seems to get all that heat out from the vents. You can see most of that heat at the vent areas. But a lot of heat does also mean a lot of energy used. And the cpu&gpu need a lot of electric energy.

Yeah, in same takes the Slim is clearly colder than the Fat PS3.

What really matters is the core temperatures. Of which the Arcade has the highest temperature. See the dense "red" colorization directly over the 360's chipsets? That is where the problem is. Ineffectively removing heat from the chips themselves.

@quik720 That's because the Xbox does not have fans on the heatsink, in short, just an exhaust fan, anyway the 2009/2010 version (jasper motherboard) have good ventilation and 95% exceeded the RROD problem (approximately)

seems like the regular PS expels the most heat, which is good. it means it's cooling effectively :)

The 360 Elite seems to be the coolest running of them however this can be contributed to two main reasons, first the power source which generates alot of heat is external and 2nd, it sounds like a damn vacuum. The slim clearly putting out alot of heat for it's size, I think I'll stick with my MGS4 80Gig bundle.

The Elite is definitely cooler. The power brick is also smaller and cooler than the arcade version.

@saltedguy slim maby hotter or hottest but can wistand more heat than the 360 i played my ps3 12 hours oneday on a cabinet it was 85 degrees that day very hoty and it still works perfectly if that was a xbox360 it would explode!!!!!
