  • How do you lower the Core Voltage?

  • @grpace what do you use to cool this bad boy? cooler/case type?

  • What exactly is A20M, and why did you disable it? (if I may ask)

  • what about core i7 950 ?

  • what are your temps?

  • @SeymoarYaTutz At 4.0 on air (megahalems) was getting around 43 idle 73 load.

At 4.0 on my custom water now i get 35 idle and 67 load.

  • What is the true meaning of overclocking?

Does it run faster meaning my game play is: ????????

What will i notice and benifet?

  • What recommended voltage for a D0 . 1.25v be ok ?

  • @DoMiNaToR2465 All cpus are not created equal but 1.25v is a standard voltage for overclocks ive seen on a D0 chip

  • How do i know which core i7 920 i have? I want to overclock it,how do you know which one is it? D0 or C0?

  • @NikacXMKD If you load up CPU-Z it will say under "Revision" C0 or D0

  • @grpace Thanks,It's D0 :D.What cooling do you use,I'm thinking about getting the Noctua NH-d14 for a 4Ghz overclock,what do you think?

  • @grpace What a crappy guide. Out of all the settings you mention like "I'm just gonna leave this on auto, gonna leave PCI untouched bla.." you can't even explain in a basic manner what these settings do, simply because you don't know. At least you could explain virtualization tech LOL. Also disabling HT drops temps more than 10° (talking in Celsius or Fahrenheit, idk because you didn't even mention).

  • ImmortalUniverse@

We are ALL noobs at the beginning. I guess you didnt born with high PC iq

  • yeah the dimm comment was a little rude . sorry . i know you can overclock the dimms with the bclk and mutiplyer. but i rather buy higher frequency dimms. my theory was that the dimms get less hot . and i dont have to lower the mem multiplyer . besides you run at 191 bclk . with a cpu multiplyer of 21 so thats 4.0GHz 191 x 8x =1528 =1600mhz dimms. 191 x 10x =1910 =2000 mhz dimms so you lowered the mem multiplyer and changed the ratio. looks less stable to me. but im not sure
  • why dont you just leave the cpu voltage to auto.

if its running red ,then youve sellected a to high voltage

if its yellow ,you selected a unstable low voltage

if you leave it auto.it will find the right setings itself .

so why mess with it ,i wonder?

  • @ImmortalUniverse lol never use auto. It is unsafe, it will set its voltage higher than it needs to be and creates instability. Also about your dimms comments above. Its called overclocking.... 1333mhz dims can over clock to 1531 if they are good. Run memtest and prime95 for 24 hours. Thats how you can tell it is stable.

  • @grpace

aha that sucks if the voltage is to high on auto.

BUT you got it to high aswell your cpu is cooking.

INTEL says its not smart to go over 1.25 v.

and memtest and prime95 are great ,but they cant see everything .

benchmarks in games tell me more .

getting the pc to pass memtest and prime95 is peanuts/

  • Thanks alot.!! i have 930

from 2.80 ghz to 4.01 ghz

    You are awesome.!

  • I've been checking out OC videos/tutorials all day and this is a great posting - very clear and matter of fact. Thanks for going to the effort while not being in the best of health.

  • @LukePuplett Thanks Luke!

  • Thanks for this - I'm sick off BSOD everytime I try to hit 4GHz. This has got me 100% stable with temps peaking at 71 degrees with my Corsair H50 - I have a D0 tho so might start to bring down the voltage and hopefully temps too!

    Nice vid - Cheers!!

  • i got cmos what should i do 0,6 or 0,7? please reply grpace

  • if i overclock to 3.8 GHz with an i7 D0 (newer) precessor, could I have my voltage at 1.25, or should I go to 1.3? If I left it on auto, would that be okay?

  • @mfastx Well at 3.8 on most d0's can do it at 1.25 but all chips can be completely random. I would say start at 1.20v and slow move it up untill its completely stable.

Auto above 3.2ish is not recommended.

  • i can run 4GHz for 1hour but then it crashed

  • frist time i had 4GHz i was like : ) but it was unstable so now : ( but i am working on it : )

  • @TheXxxLoganxxX Yeah it takes awhile but once you get it stable its quite satisfying.

  • good video, hope u get better Greg

  • We are in an agreement. My goal on this chip was 4GHz and imo its more power than I will need for a long time.

    Thanks for the comments

  • You mean x21 on i7 920

  • Yes. I failed to mention its a 920.

  • Loool @ 1.337

  • Glad someone picked up on that.

  • Good video. I assume it's a 920

  • Yes

  • I have my i7 running @4.6GHz. Stock speed was 3.2GHz, and my first overclocking attempt resulted @ 4GHz. After I got a better liquid cooling system I decided to go a bit higher. At one point I had it at nearly 5GHz, but the system became very unstable, it would crash and lock up a lot. That's when I dropped back down to 4.6GHz. It's been fine since then.

I achieved the higher overclock, but keep in mind I'm not rubbing it in your face. That's just why they call me CPUMaster. Good job though 5*

  • Well you do get a extra 0.54Ghz from the start so if were speaking in terms of those, you have a 1.4ghz overclock on water and I have a 1.34ghz overclock on air. Seems fair to me?

  • Looks like i was the guy who made both request, sry LOL but thanx for uploading man, i really appreciate it.

  • Haha don't worry about it i remember getting request in the past and just sending pms with settings.

  • Nice OC! 5/5

  • Haha, I just hate looking at cpuz and seeing the low speeds unless im loadin.

  • crazy overclocking right there

  • Why thank you.
