I seriously do not understand why this show is so successful, there isn't even a single bit of good humor, it's just stupid "nerdy" jokes that hipsters laugh at to fit in with their pretentious unfunny "nerdy" bunch...

The "jokes" themselves are not in any way funny, from what I understood the entire point of the show is that the actors are using "BIG SCIENCE WORDS" and make fun of autism that the general American audience finds funny. I don't know why a person like Tyson would partake in this.

Is that based on the ten minutes of one episode you watched? Granted, it's not the funniest thing on television but there are quite a few solid laughs. Yes. It's 'nerdy' humor, it's a show named after a scientific theory about a group of guys in their thirties who still play video games and have in depth discussions about Battlestar Galactica. It's not for everyone but that doesn't make it stupid or unfunny.

No, I've seen full episodes of this show on TV, but never even saw why it would be funny.

Now that you mentioned people in their thirties *still* playing video games, I guess that the "funny" part is taking a normal part of a person with different interests' life and showing it to the "normal" public that finds it earth-shattering hilarious and the editors have to confirm it by making 1/3 of the show's audio filled with meaningless laughing tracks.

@LordOfCookies123 I agree that the laugh track is out of control. And I was thinking about it more in terms of people relating to the characters but your take is probably why it's really so popular. I think the following comes mostly from a group of people who aren't generally represented well in the media, these guys are smart, read comics, play video games, etc. That's basically me. I hate the addition of the girlfriends, though. That's just pandering in an attempt to get more female viewers.
