I remember standing next to the Piranha Plant. I was on my very last life. All I did was walk around it thinking, "Ha ha... it's asleep. It can't do anything!" But somehow, I accidentally moved to analog stick too quick. The Piranha Plant hit me and I died. There was a lesson learned here: Never bother a sleeping person... or plant... or whatever. XD
