  • bagpipes always bring tears to my eyes. what a beautiful sound.

  • @pipesofpeace1 your absolutely right, it really does bring tears to your eyes, it was this beautiful song that i first heard bagpipes bag in he early 82's and i did not know it was paul m singing this beautiful song.

  • Listening to the lyrics, must be a wonderful place to live in our fast times...!

  • This was the only LP ma wee Nana owned.....Bless her wee soul. xxx

  • Search and found, that this song was Number One in the german Single Charts at my birthay :-)

  • @TheBlende78 Me too, freaking facebook games... ;P

  • @Narrman

yeah - it was the FB game :-)))

  • aaamaaaazzinggg. Bagpipes great. Topper. love it.

  • Although I quite liked it on first hearing, this was #1 in the UK for absolutely ages, until I got thoroughly sick of hearing it. I'm afraid that the years have not made the heart grow fonder - too much of a dirge.

  • Left-handed badass.

  • Woke up singing this today and im not sure why! Maybe its the british weather or maybe its cos christamas is coming and when I was about 6 my school used to play this in the hall when it was poor weather to play outdoors! The song has stuck with me and if I played this to my friends they may think me weird as its not my usual playlist being black lol. Regardless Such a beautiful song. Goose bumps everytime.

  • That scream on 4:30 makes me happy

  • Makes me cry..so very beautiful !!

  • ps think one of my kids will have something to say top me later, just noticed the name boomshakala and its not me lol

  • paul and linda used to have lock ins , new years eve at my uncle dave & aunty evelyns pub, the egremont ferry, seacombe, (long retired now) fab people, down to earth , their kids would run round the streets barefooted playing with the local kids by day, there was NO side to him at all. genuine top bloke

  • The most beautiful music!

  • This was my absolute favorite song at that time (when I was 7) and still is one of my whole life

  • Great song ive heard it before and liked it but couldnt remember the name. But I did :)

  • I grew up 20 mis. from this location in the Kintyre of Mull, and though I live in the states now, Paul carries me back to the days I knew best, God bless him.

  • City Ground , Oh mist rolling in from the Trent my desire is always to be here Oh City Ground

  • It's a beautiful song

  • i don't personally understand the huge appeal of this song

  • @gorgolyt FTR.. That was my vote down, nothing personal... The appeal of this song has its merits on many levels but as a piper... I love it for the pipes.. This is the staple track for anyone learning the pipes to play.. (this and tattoo by mike oldfield)... Its about the pipes bro!!!!

  • A long way from Fife, but I'll take it.

  • I am still grateful to my teacher for this song

  • Most beautiful song by Paul McCartney & Wings. Favorite of his solo stuff along with Let Me Roll It.

  • my geography teachers in red anorak coat!! :D

  • Soooo xmasie to me !!!

  • this guy could sing the phone book and i'd buy it.

  • can anyone tell me why denny lane of wings who started with the moody blues and got to number 1 with go now left as he was lead singer and wrote the song very talented muscian

  • This song brings tears to my eyes....lyrics remind me of my dad, God rest his soul.

  • ..whole town turns out for the Vid! The way Music video's should be! :-)

  • heavy metal

  • Sweet song and probably one of McCartney's all time best. Bagpipes in this song are superb and help make the song the true great it is. Amazing how easy it is to forget certain songs and music over a 35+ year period. I re-discovered this truly great song after recently watching a documentary of the life of James Dean and it had a version of this song near it's end. I now well remember McCartney's '77 debut and video on MTV. Damn--that was like a "forever" ago ! Now I listen to it daily.

  • i actually know someone where there dad was ment to be in this video but he missed the bus

  • Beautiful song, I remember as a kid in 77 listening to my nan(RIP) sing along... they don't make classics like this anymore x

  • wonderful song!!!

  • When I was at college I used to play this to motivate myself to hike across campus for my afternoon classes. If I hadn't played it I think I would have skipped a lot of classes. Silly story, I know, but I love this song.

  • simplemente hermoso, una de las obras maestras de McCartney :3

  • my Gran loved this song,!, she liked it when i was a kid, RIP, Grannny,!

  • my girlfriends house at new year, many moons ago. me put to bed, but still hearing that fab song. scottish in so many ways.

  • Such a great song. Cheers from Michigan

  • Thank you.

  • Why is it that this is the biggest selling non-charity UK single of all time but it has only 300,000 views?

  • @Vlodrak because it was 40 years ago :p

  • THE CITY GROUND, OH MIST ROLLING IN FROM THE TRENT, MY DESIRE IS ALWAYS TO BE, OH CIIIIITY GROUND

  • Awesome song! I remember back in '77 when I was a little kid, my older sister got the 45 and we loved it! I can't believe that this song wasn't a big hit here in the U.S. at the time.

  • @nostalgiahistoria67 I think the flip side "Girl School" got the airplay in the States. I read once that the record company thought it wouldn't sell there - which seems strange as I've met lots of American who simply love the pipes etc!

  • Wings' 1977 single "Mull of Kintyre" became the first single to sell more than two million copies in the UK, and remains the UK's top selling non-charity single.

  • @lukegriffin1994 the debate is more about the quality of the songs written by contemporary artists, I get very angry when I hear tiny temper etc as there is no style to the song, I do however quite like 'I need a dollar' - good jazz age vibe.

  • Ein Lied an das ich mich gerade gerne erinnere, ich muß wohl ca. 3 o.4 Jahre alt gewesen sein.Jetzt mit 36 bekomme ich es nicht aus dem Kopf.

  • @timieverything55 i didnt come to perposally dislike i heard the song sold loads so listened to it a found it boring and i hate the scottish sound

  • a volta dos beatlles

  • what a shit song

  • @lukegriffin1994.not lady gaga enough for you champ????you're a shit head. go back to sleep

  • @lukegriffin1994 all new "music" isn't actually music its just crap auto-tune. the artists don't even write their own songs

  • @Mark252219 infact they do write there own songs like lady gaga, katy perry, black eyed peas, the killers, neally all rapers, bruno mas, taio cruz, ne yo , chris brown, adele, beyonce (dont like the last 2 by the way), and loads of others the only ones that dont r girlbands, boybands, sumtimes reality talent showswinners, and britney and rihanna, most of others do write their own songs aswell as gaga co-produces them and gaga, bruno, the killers, black eyed peas can play instruments, so whatever

  • @lukegriffin1994 So, you're not keen then?

  • @lukegriffin1994

    you are an ace tosser!

with no taste and no life!

    Wanker!

  • @lukegriffin1994 hilarious. I don't usually respond to trolls. I know you say that just to piss people off so I went to your page to see what you like. And man (or whatever you are) you really shouldn't put down others, trolling or not, when you have a page that's basically a poster for the sappiest shit music there is. Lady Gaga?? michael jackson?? I give them their entertainment talent but only fags & little girls listen to them. If i were you, i wouldn't bring attention to it.

  • Agreed, what a fantastic place to live...I wish I could leave Texas and live there... :(

  • scotland must be a beautiful country,oh,how i wish to be there.

  • no expense spared on the film clip,McCartney payed the pipers 20 pound each,no wonder he's a billionare now

  • Paul McCartney Day on MTV? Awesome!

  • Love this song! Thanks for the upload!

  • Great video. Not many "celebs' would venture out into the public eye dressed as casually as Linda and the others in the video. Great song and brilliant video display.

  • i am the wee boy in the blue coat lol

  • good gets my baby sister asleep!

  • @CREEPYPERSONUDUNNO because is fkg boooooooooooooooooring!

  • Makes me wish I was there! I even tried singing this song at a Karaoke Show a couple weeks ago. I look forward to uploading a Karaoke Video of me singing that song soon. I have subscribed to the channel. Hope everyone checks out my Karaoke Videos. My apologies if the Videos look grainy or so dark to see me, but is more focused on my singing ability. I like this song, but is rare to find for Karaoke Singing. Some Scottish and English songs, I have not heard anyone sing at Karaoke shows.

  • HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY...FROM SCOTLAND.

  • sentimental dull vacuous tuneless dirge

  • mull of kintyre: aaaaah I love it

  • @cutandpaste1 NOPE

  • @cutandpaste1 I don't believe your statement could be more presumptuous.

  • simple / beautiful / warms my heart...........brings back memories of when i was a wee girl in my Scottish school's choir and we were practising this one for a concert...and our Scots music teacher said - ''s.t.o.p. !!!!! do NOT sing with the American accent Paul sings with"".....LOL

  • @cutandpaste1I don't know what to say to that. I'm Canadian and my family has some Scottish ancestry. This song pulls at the heartstrings. I guess I"m "retarded" ....my apologies.....

  • Ravi Shanker poopooed Mahler of all people with the same complaint that it was children's music. He just wasn't able to access it emotionally, not grasping that it's far more complex than high speed noodling in its effect, which is ultimately the only point. Petty rationalists lose out on deep feeling and turn their noses toward the ceiling, not realizing their own poverty. They want to chew on superficial cleverness and demand that we do similarly. Not everyone is capable of enchantment.

  • епа от наште гайди по убави нема...

  • @cutandpaste1 no Scottish ancestry? You're boring and you're bad.

  • Here come the pipes!

  • stand up and greet

  • City Ground, Oh mist rolling in from the Trent, My desire is always to be here, Oh City Ground; For I have travelled, And much have I seen, Goodison, Anfield, The places I've been, Maine Road, Old Trafford, Still echo to the sounds, Of the boys in the red shirts, At the City Ground; City Ground, Oh mist rolling in from the Trent, My desire is always to be here, Oh City Ground.

  • The biggest selling song EVER at the time.

  • @billyh88uk 4th best selling single actually. and it isn't that bad. actually it is quite good.

  • yehwritten by an englishmen angles and scots make great things together !!

  • @britnoteng I wish people would stop calling English Angles, As a Englishman of mostly Celtic blood I dont want to be called a saxon.

  • @PrestonNorthEndFan Paul McCartney has Irish blood in case you're mis-guided or anything, an 'Angle' as you call it would have Anglo-Saxon blood, n'est pas?

  • @TightfittingUnderpan OK... Why are you telling me this?

  • This could arguably the most beautiful song ever written!I've heard it since I was 5 years old, long before I had any idea who even the Beatles were, let alone that Paul McCartney was a former Beatle.

  • haRDLY anyone admits liking this yet it sold vast amounts

  • this song just makes me warm and fuzzy inside :) I love it!

  • One of my most favourite songs to play and sing. Also played the tenor and bass drum in pipe bands since I was a kid. Thanks Sir Paul.

  • Was this a charity song for Scotland? There should be more like this, for all the countries.

  • Love how this was number 1 in the UK, but thirty fricken three in the US. I guess we dont give two shits about Kintryre.

  • spot on fookin magic

  • caledonia aim coming home...

  • I love how this song makes me feel. Hey Americans do you realize the Mull of Kintyre looks like a scrotum and penis? as pointed out to me by a native of Scotland.

  • you could say that about lotsa things. why do people have such dirty minds?

  • Lovely! Amazing! Graceful!

  • This song is no.105 in the world-all-time-charts #wings

  • What a song.........

  • What a song - I love Scotland !

  • I love how Linda doesn't give a fig about what she looks like - she was rich in her own right before she married Paul but it didn't seem to matter - that's a strength of character I admire.

  • We had this at my grandfather's funeral ... when the first pipes and drums solo bridge started, the undertakers started to move the coffin out of the church ... this was his and my song to sing together - and when I sang it at the funeral, most of the congregation joined in, even though they didn't have the words printed.

  • why do we associate this song with christmas? lol

  • @TokoChan Because it was a christmas number 1 x x x

  • (2) i am forn the Brazil and I love it

  • 14 dislikes? awaynboilyerheeds

  • I wish the Corries had covered this one; they would have done a wonderful version of it.

  • Sad to say the Band is no more, and also sad to say the PM ,Tony, has also passed away. The Mad DM hasn't though!:O)

  • I am from the USA and I love it.

  • crappy video... but great song!

  • Now look up "Jet" by these guys. Another calssic! Funny that lots of you should mention the hair raising on you neck. Mine too!

  • Now look up "Jet" by these guys. Another calssic!

  • great song .really a great song

  • Its bad

  • Anyone know what a "mull" is? i know what a kintyre is but not to sure about this whole "mull" thing

  • @alexk307 A promontory. A large rock or cliff, jutting out from the land into the ocean. More common in British English than American English.

  • @alexk307 The name is an Anglicisation of the Gaelic 'Maol Chinn Tìre' or in English "The rounded [or bare] headland of Kintyre" - wikipedia quote of course lol

  • @alexk307 "Mull" is the name of the island, "Kintyre" is the name of the estuary

  • Why do some people hate this song . i think this song is so lovely especially the bagpipes.

  • @MsFanmail It may be because it is old-fashioned. But that, to me, is its charm. The song never caught on as much in America, but it was wildly popular in the UK.

  • McCartney is king of the ballads.

  • Linda was Pauls Heart and Soul -Mate for life..This song just justifies it.

  • Beautifullllllll!!!!!!

  • Paul can sing just about anything and make it beautiful.

  • most beautiful song i have ever heard.

  • Since I saw this vid on "Youtube" I listen to this wonderful song every evening before I go to bed - Paul is simply great - thanks !!

  • czy pale ssiesz, czy ssiesz moja pale?

  • forest fans sing it better :)

  • I heard Paul was selling this ranch.
