  • That's so cute. :)

    Warms my heart.

    Never seen anything like that...

  • Thanks so much!

  • they must have some think feathers to be nesting in a Katya ouch. peace. gregg

  • They pad the nest pretty good to protect themselves from the cactus needles, but I'm sure the cactus needles do help keep the crawling predators away!

  • Bird watchers haven.

  • It really was - All right outside our door at the hotel.

  • Wow - what a beautiful little interlude in my or anyone's day. Thank you.

  • Thank you!

  • This is one seriously beautiful video... I could watch those doves -are they doves?- all day...

  • Thank you - Most of the commenters seem to think they're doves, so I'll agree. Frankly, I can't tell a dove from a cactus wren. I just watch them and wonder how they'll taste on the BBQ.

  • Very fine. I shared it with my friends at YSI (Youth Science Institute) by posting it on their FaceBook page. Thanks

  • Thanks! I hope they enjoy it!

  • Very nice

  • Thanks!

  • Great vid Ken!!! I film birds every time I get a good opportunity. It certainly ain't as easy getting good shots of them as most people might think. (Leastwise not around here) From reading the comments it looks like you filmed this over a pretty short period of time. It would take me a forever to get that much interesting footage. I really loved the momma feeding the two little ones at around :53

  • Thanks! This was shot over a period of about 4 or 5 days, and all right outside our hotel room. Each morning I'd get up and check out the nests with my camera before breakfast.

  • Great stuff! I have a project that will include some doves like the ones in your video that I've been putting off for a while. It's for a song called, "Cute Little Bird." Some of the clips are already shot, but there's still some stuff I need to shoot.

  • This was probably shot not too far from you - over in Desert Hot Springs. Maybe these birds are still hanging out there ... go get 'em!

  • Great video though when the three birds locked in together the first time i thought it might turn into birds gone wild.

  • Well... there was some birds gone wild footage, but I posted that elsewhere ;^)

  • Never seen a dove on nest.... They go south for such I suppose... Fantastic...

  • Well, it ain't a bad place to set up a nest. Thanks!

  • btw I abused you again today in new vid...

  • It is a truly magnificent bit of footage

  • Love those hummingbirds. I've never seen them IRL & would love to do so one day.

Great quality on this video too :)

  • No hummingbirds in England? Or just not in Hastings? Well, hopefully you'll get the opportunity to seem them sometime soon.

  • Only in a zoo i'm afraid & i don't recall seeing any there either.

Yes, seeing them in the wild sounds very inticing :)

  • Great footage!

  • Thanks!

  • Great stuff! I enjoyed watching the birds. Beautiful to watch and wonderful to think about spring right now. :)

  • I guess this was wishful vlogging? Longing for spring... Thanks!

  • so beautiful, thank you! i'm defrosting just watching this from northern climes.

  • Thanks - We've been pretty chilly in NorCal lately too - Maybe why I went back to find this footage from last spring and finally edit it up ;^)

  • What a beautiful video, Ken!

  • Thank you!

  • ★★★★★

  • Thanks!

  • Hummingbirds are hard to shoot! I notice the plants also: prickly pear, century plant, bird of paradise...as well as the desert quail! good job!

  • And all of this was just outside our hotel room in DHS. We didn't even have to leave the property.

  • Dead on camera work Kenrg, I'm not a huge fan of birds myself but great job non the less.

  • Personally, I most like birds when they're deep fried or barbequed, but it was a fun subject for a video anyway ;^)

  • Well said, comrade.

  • Being a bird lover, I loved this! 5 stars.

  • Thank you!

  • It was like a regular wildlife film. Is there no end to your talents? Nice one.

  • Nope, no end to them. In fact, next I'm doing an opera. ... Well... maybe there should be an end... LMAO, but thanks!

  • I forget the desert even has birds sometimes.

These really are terrific shots. How you held the camera steady enough to get the hummingbirds... wow!

  • Well, the trick is to get the hummingbirds first thing in the morning before you start drinking and and your hand starts shaking...

  • Drinking... you mean coffee, right?

  • Yeah... right... Coffee! That's the ticket! The caffeine gives me the jitters. We only drink herbal tea while out in the desert...

  • Some great footage Ken.

  • Thank you!
