  • ERIC ADAMS

  • rob could sing anything freddy sang.....freddy would blow the goat try'n to front priest.....end of conversation.

  • It sounds like hes singing this with these notes: Vic (G5) tim (F#5) of (E5) chaan(F#5) the doubled voice comes in and says yaaoOooOooh(F#6) as hes hitting the end of the "changes" in (F#5)

    He is insane!!!!

I did this with a tone generator.

  • @TrueVideo I doubt that's an F#6. It is fucking high but not Robs highest note and yes I am pretty sure he has and can hit an F#6 it just didn't happend in this song.

  • @hermygagala He does hit it. I tone matched every note and that's what the super falsetto high part is. Its an crossfade overdub of him just hitting that F#6 before the crossfade into the F#5.

  • @TrueVideo So then what's his highest note cause I know he has hit a fair bit higher than that.

  • @hermygagala oh crap i confused my self hahaha I'm screwing up some place lol I'll get back to you cause i'm mixing my octaves here.

  • @TrueVideo Are you going to answer my inbox message?

  • @bobmarleyisgod1 Well said mate. People who lament over what's been lost and not what's still there, and can still be done, just don't get it. It's like being excited for Christmas morning and all the beautiful bows you're going to get... "...presents? Oh yeah them.. yeah but.."

  • @bobmarleyisgod1 well... thats pretty cool dude.

anyways... i just Love Rob the way he sings and express evrything with his voice

  • I WONDER HOW LOUD ROB WOULD SCREAM IF U KICK HIM IN THE BALLS!!!

  • ALL HAIL THE METAL GOD!!!!!!!

  • I was wondering: what is the note he hits on the Unleashed in the east version of Exciter?

  • He is the best one !!!!! Dio and Bruce are kings too, but this is the Metal God !!!!

  • One of the best voices in all of rock and roll. Even without his screams, he still is first class.

  • Bruce, Ronnie, rob are best. idk but imo bruce is best.

  • @jaagup117

    agreed.

  • I've listened to a lot of Halford, and honestly, I think his greatest screams are on Dissident Aggressor; and on a version of Victim Of Changes (which you can find under the name "Judas Priest - Victim Of Changes (rare 1975 recording)" at approx. 0.47 min).

  • i recommend listening to tony harnell (TNT), midnight (crimson glory) and jim gillette (nitro). they can hit high notes with ease, too

  • Freddie has nothin to do with Halford

    watch?v=8fJ-OOr7H_c

    or Dickinson

    watch?v=Rcw-J2QQjDo

09:34 u just wont believe your "ears"

  • suerte con bambera

  • IMO, freddie mercury has the best voice...

  • this is not about who has the best voice...Freddie Mercury own...thats other class...but i suggest you to hear some Bruce Dickinson,Halford,Eric Adams,Dio...they are great vocalist in the metal scene.

  • @MetalNeyth you have absolutely right my friend!!!!!!klaus meine is a metal god too.he is old but he still have rock/metal voice!

  • @pedong45 yeah you should see him cover zeppelin XD

  • @pedong45 in your opinion xD

  • @pedong45 in your opinion ... xD

  • @pedong45 Haha mercury. he's great but more than just an overrated vocalist. so completely blown out of proportion. It is absolutely ridiculous. Besides most of his notes are in falsetto.

  • @hermygagala Doesn't change the fact that Mercury was blessed with the greatest singing voice in the history of rock music, and the polls show as much. There's a difference between screaming like a tuneless banshee and embarrassing everyone, and having a great voice. Overrated my scrote.

  • @andross637 Haha mercury the greatest thats the funniest thing I've ever heard. Considering his voice doesn't pack that much punch, nor do I feel the passion like some other singers far superior that influenced him as well, like David Byron for one.

  • @hermygagala Starting your argument with "Haha" is an instant admission of defeat in all cases. Freddie Mercury is widely regarded as one of, if not the, greatest rock singers of all time. You know this, as does everyone.

  • @andross637 And trying to tell someone they have admitted defeat is a way of trying to make themselves look superior, in the eyes of the second hand perceiver. Yes everyone does know that he has that status; that doesn't mean it is so. Obviously you're not a vocalist. His stylistic technical ability to adapt to a wide variety of genres is far inferior to many of the vocalist I listen to. So is his power, full voice range, tone, and passion.

  • @hermygagala That's a bit much coming from someone whose opening salvo is "Haha". I'm not talking about "technical ability". I'm talking about singing voices regarded by the public as being among the greatest ever. How horrible it would be to live in a world where sustaining a high note makes you a great singer. Thankfully only a tasteless minority actually live by that rule.

  • @andross637 I would say that was a fairly arrogant, brash and ignorant statement on your part. I've come to realize that neither one of us has intention of changing our opinions so I refuse to continue in this infintile argument. I never meant to insult freddie, it just gets a little tiresome when people who aren't vocalists talk shit, and say he's the best, when they, themselves, aren't even qualified to make a comment.

  • @hermygagala I know quite a bit about singing and ranges, hence why I'm watching these videos. I'm saying that Mercury has one of, if not the, greatest voices in history. Nothing to do with technical vocal skill. There are millions more skilled vocalists than Mercury, and Halford for that matter. I'm talking about great voices, and Mercury consistently ranks high in public polls. I couldn't give two fucks about technicality if the guy has a shit voice. Look at James LaBrie.

  • @andross637 There's no doubt Freddie has one of the best voices, certainly not the best.Especially when you consider that Freddie took basically everything he know from Ronnie James Dio go listen to the song "Elf Driftin" by Ronnie. Released before Queen released a single album or single.Oh and if you think Rob halford isn't good go listen to "Judas Priest Epitaph" there are parts in that song that he could be mistaken for Freddie Mercury. Although his tone and technical albitily are far greater

  • @hermygagala I never said Rob Halford isn't good. I'm not a fan of the needless banshee stuff but he was great on the early work. Not a patch on Mercury, but damn good.

Yet again, I'm not talking about technical vocal ability, or originality, or anything else. I'm talking about having a god-given singing voice that elevates you to legendary status in the eyes of the music-buying public. Freddie Mercury is one of the greatest ever in that regard, and often ranks as *the* greatest.

  • @andross637 And by the way James Labrie is ok for technical ability but again he is far blown out of proportion. Also his tone is nothing to brag about. I would rate him as a slightly above average rock singer and nothing more. He isn't very versatile at all.

  • Bruce does a B5 in the song Gangand^^

    In falsetto ofc^^

  • Hmm...I like Dio and Halford in their prime more than Bruce, but now Id say he is better because he is a bit younger than them and hasn't lost his voice like they did.

  • Dio is a really great vocalist, but is a different kind of voice, but for sure hes on the top 5,i cant decide my top!!! is something like: Halford,Eric Adams,Dio,etc etc...theres a lot of really good singers from the old school, and from now i suggets you to check Daniel Heiman former singer of Lost Horizon,Sean Peck from Cage and Rob Tiranty from Labyrinth.

  • @TheGreatDuck halford can still hit the high notes....but kiske is the only one who's voice hasnt changed!!!

  • @qick07 Yeah,he's back in form now,but there was a time when he wasn't really good.

  • @TheGreatDuck I disagree. Rob and Dio kept their voices better than Bruce. Sure, Rob can't hit all the notes, but Bruce struggles a lot. It's very raspy ans you can tell it's very forced nowadays.

  • @TheGreatDuck I saw Ronnie James Dio twice in the last years of his life, and he had not lost a note... if anything, he aged very well vocally, maybe even sounded better than when I saw him in the early 90s... Halford, on the other hand, has lost most of his range, which is really sad, cuz he was so good

  • @VoxFromThePast halfords voice is still ass-kicking live though.

  • @VoxFromThePast There's a big difference between Halford and Dio which makes that argument pointless. Dio sang most of the time within a single octave, with the odd high or low note (not questioning that he had a great range - Just that he didn't use it as much). Halford has always been over the place and it's his higher register that has declined over the past decade.

  • @TheGreatDuck how you heard judas priest in their latest tour?if not your head will explode when you hear them, hes voice is more than fantastick for he's age

  • YEESS FUCKIN GREAT !!

  • Don't argue about vocalists we're all on the same side here guys. Bruce Dickinson, Dio they're all amazing, some of the best. But Rob Halford is something else, Dickinson and Dio are power vocalists like Power Metal. Halford is a range vocalist, different styles. Technically Rob is far better than both. He has the highest range in metal.

  • i'm not even much Judas Priest fan and i can agree with that... you could go off of high notes alone, or range in general, and he still wins. Dudes amazing, hitting notes that even Mark Slaughter's going "damn, that was high"

  • I like the fact ur repping 2pac and here in a metal video. Me too tho.

  • i enjoy the talents of all music man, and i may not've agreed with him as a man, but his ability with words was deep and talented

which is kinda why i had to interject on the subject, i believe theyre too many good artists; like Rob, that....well, used to bring magic like this, and for one to say whose the "best" would mean you'd have to define what makes one the best, and i don't think it can be done by notes alone. 3 cheers for stubborn Opinions !!!

  • I feel you

  • woo 10000th viewer!

  • holy shit

  • the fact is i believe that the sound of bruce's voice is much better than rob's voice.AND WHAT U SAY IS STUPID IF U PUT ROB SING HALLOWED BE THY NAME HE LL MURDER IT TOO SOO THIS DOESNT MEAN HE S NO GOOD SINGER

  • Just saw Priest last night. Best I heard Rob sound live in 20 years. Don't know if it is because the tour just kicked off, or what. Blown away by how tight they were.

  • Great F# here...the trill at the end gives a fantastic illusion that it goes even higher but I don't think it does. Regardless halford's a vocal god and a genius

  • for sure is a great note here, but halford can go higher in other songs,se the 4octva ewonder pt3 of rob halford of my friend jowox to see other high notes...also i guess Halford can hit notes higher, remember tht he hit that notes singing,i guess in study calm with halford just hitting high notes will be amazing, but now hes old and still good (he hit f5 in judas is rising from revolution album)...

  • Yea the B5 from Aggressor is just epic (too bad it's layered in). He's still really good as a singer for a man who's going on 60, was a heavy drinker and smoked like a chimney. Most people wouldn't be able to sing period after what he's done to his voice; he only lost about a half-octave so those are some tough vocal cords.

  • have you heard the unleashed in the east version of victim!!!! Great! Rob sang the notes exacly like in the studio!Evene better.Great Singer among my favorite one Michael Kiske

  • Bruce Dickinson is a great singer but he has also a huge dificincies.

The best is right here, On this Video!!1

  • To be honest I think Bruce has aged better....ohh please dont kill me!

  • I'm not gonna kill u, i'm gonna murder u!

    JUST KIDDING

  • Yea I think his voice is better preserved, but that's probably due to Rob's various drug addictions and his harsher musical stylings in the 90s and early 2000s

  • Yeah probably....

  • halford is almost 60...the real question is,you think Dickinson can sing good song like Painkiller,Ram It Down,Screaming for vengeance, sad wing of destiny (version alive),and many other??? i dont think so...

im a huge fan of dickinson, but my top favorite vocalist classical are rob halford and Eric Adams..now are a lot of singer that sing even higher that this guys, examples : Sean Peck from Cage,Daniel Heiman ex Lost Horizon,Rob Tyrant from Labyrinth, and theres a few more...But Halford FTW!!!

  • This record is live..lol..:-)

  • your a fucking idiot for saying he sucks live. this video is a live recording, how can you say he sucks??

  • Allright, this is good... you know, i just cant get it... Halford is my third best singer, after Dickinson and Gillan, he is amazing, JUDAS PRIEST is top 3 greatest metal bands of all time... But i will always hate one thing about them... its the PAINKILLER.... never good live...NEVER...

  • lol. dude halford ist in his prime anymore. when painkiller came out he was in his 40's. if he sang it when he was in his 20's it would sound fine

  • yeah dude, but i hate when someone says : "He is the best, listen to Painkiller..."

It would be MUCH MUCH better if they would say : "He is the best, listen to SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE"

  • Or if they said..."SAD WINGS OF DESTINY!"

    "SIN AFTER SIN!"

I love all of them :D

  • He is the best.. Listen to Painkiller.. off the album.

  • Name one vocalist who could match Rob Halfords studio vocals on Painkiller, but doing it live.

There is none. That is a purely wicked voice.

  • the bad thing in that is : He cant match Himself...

  • That's how bad ass the vocals were.

  • omfg... you are not getting the point... nevermind, have a great life..

  • I think I know what you're saying. he cant hit the highs of his past ??

  • No.. What i am saying is : HE COULD NEVER, EVER sing like he sang in studio on Painkiller.. That was Build up voice... If you give me 1 good performance of Painkiller LIVE, i will say that he is good... Btw, i love how he sings on Green Manalishi, he ROCKS there!! :D

  • dont worrie, dickinson cant sing live like he record the albums too...the problem is: people fee offendeed when they notice that other people love others vocalist...also many great singers cantsing ALL THE TIME and sound like the albums...

  • Bruce sings better than the album versions.. Check Rime Of The Ancient Mariner in 2008 and Hallowed Be Thy Name at Beast Over Hammersmith... etc etc.. Every song, Bruce sings it better live... Now dont be offended, Rob is my second favorite metal singer, i just pointed something.. I really like him...

  • i dont need to check anything,i already see him LIVE...and he cant hit a5 or g5 live this recent years...but halford hit b5 in the resurrection live...people must understand that both are great vocalist, but Halford hits HIGHER NOTES THAN BRUCE,also i dont think bruce can sing Ram It Down,PainKiller or screaming for vengeance...

  • Yeah, he couldnt, as Rob couldnt sing Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, Run To The Hills, and many many songs.. Btw, Bruce can sing 1.5 octave LOWER than Rob, and Rob can sing 1 octave higher that Bruce, so Bruce has more octaves... And, in my opinion, Bruce has the BEST voice EVER!! :)

  • @Uptheironsserbia666 wrong...Bruce sing a NOTE lower than Halford, not a octave...and halford hit A6 on backing vocals of the Ripper, also in wiki say he was able to hit g#6...so thats almost a octave higher than bruce...

  • Dude.. Youre just a maiden fan... Any sensible metal fan will admit 99.9 percent of the time Rob owned bruce..

  • Nope, you are just being a Priest fan... 100 people, 100 fucking opinions...in mine, Bruce is the best, in yours, Rob is the best...

  • theres a big flaw right there...you're using wikipedia

IMO bruce's best vocals are done when he's live.

rob's best performances are done when he's in the studio.

bruce's voice may not go that octave higher but that doesn't make him a worse singer by any means, his voice is much more powerful than robs imo, rob's good and all but he just doesn't match up, even if he can go higher...he can't get the sound better

btw i don't hate priest, ffs i have a cover of electric eye on my page

  • You gotta be fuckin kidding me. Having a cover of electric eye yet saying Bruce has more powerful vocals than Rob? Slap yourself man. Being able to go an octave higher, matter fact two octaves higher makes Rob better than Bruce. Rob had just about 4 octaves in the 70s. What did Bruce have? 2? The highest note Burce hit was i nthe 80s..When eagls dare.. Halford hitthat note for practice.. get outta here man.. wtf.. Use ur brain.. Speak with some sense..

  • there a difference between powerful and being able to go high

bruces vocals are filled with emotion and have more power behind them, rob can hit higher notes but his voice is no where near as trained or controlled as Bruce's voice

and besides, technical ability doesn't mean anything.

judas priests guitarist aren't as technical as necrophagist's guitarists but they're MUCH better

  • i covered electric eye because its an awesome song by an awesome band, but maiden are my favorite band of all time and are extremely persistent with the quality of their music

  • Halford is full of emotion in each voice he sings in

Priest is more persistent with the quality of their music

  • rob is good, but i dont hear a whole load of emotion through his songs

and no way, maiden have 3 perfect albums, and 2 edging on perfect. priest have good records but none would i consider perfect

  • Alright bro, what perfect albums do they have?

And man I gotta dispute that fact and Im sure many other metal fans would as well Priestheads or not.. I'll quote someone on one of these videos "Halford is pure emotion with 9 different voices"

Painkiller is THE perfect metal album. It's quintessential bro.

    I respect your opinion though.

  • ok i'll give you that, painkiller i would probably consider perfect, it is an amazing album with classic songs, and has a massive influence on one of my favorite bands and biggest influence - death.

IMO maiden's 3 perfect albums are powerslave, somewhere intime and seventh son. i'd say i've listened to each of those over a hundred times (definitely seventh son as i learned the full album on guitar and played it daily.)

  • i'm not nsaying rob has no emotion, he's got loads in his voice but i feel more emotion in bruces voice and performances, but i am biased when it comes to maiden, i will admit that and they are one of the reasons why i love music so much.#

ohh yeah also, i fully respect your opinion as well, i can understand all of your points i just tend to prefer bruce

  • Also real quick I'm taking back what I said about Bruce having 2 octaves I think he has about 3 octaves.

  • the vocal range is not really something important into whos the beast...see,King Diamond hit highers notes...but i hate him...that falsetto is just disgusting!!! of course from my personal viewpoint.

  • Best*

  • I agree.. I hate King's falsetto too. He uses his falsetto way too much (in my view). King Diamond can hit high notes only in studio. I have never seen that King hits same high notes in live.

But.. Halford can hits those high notes in studio and also in live. So I would say Halford has better range than Diamond has. Look at " The Ripper " cover by King Diamond. King Diamond made cool cover, but he cannot hits same notes what Halford do.

  • @Avneryful

Halford can hit shit live now

last I seen King Diamond he hit his High notes great when he hit "Moon" during the song Evil

  • @GHstrike

Indeed.. Halford cannot hit high notes in live anymore. He's over 60. You should look Judas Priest 80' live(s).

Those good old days, Halford pwned King Diamond!

Remember, King's one influence is Judas Priest.

  • @Avneryful

Yes Rob is the King of Metal

back in the Day his voice was unmatched

  • also almost every serious metal vocalist out there say that Halford is One of the best vocalist on the Metal scene...

  • @Avneryful

not even that, just check out Live in Chile 2001 or Live Insurrection

those were the highest notes of his career, after 2002 he started losing it so fast.. strange think

    check out resurrection chile 2001

  • @MetalNeyth

I know what you mean, I feel the same about K.D. I just never got off on him. I rather Halford A LOT more then Diamond.

  • But as I said in my other comment. Both Bruce Dickinson AND Rob Halford can sing as good live as they do in the studio. But it has to be when the album comes out. THATS when they sound divine live. Its just that as they age, they cant sing like they used to. Thats goes for both of them. They are the top two vocalists in metal. Period. So stop trying to side with one, and hate the other. I admire both. You guys should do the same. I have 9 Maiden albums and 8 Priest albums. Both are legends.

  • that is really nice, because noobs just use to listen Number Of The Beast and Painkiller...I Hate the Number of the Beast SONG,also theres a lots of good song from Maiden, same as Painkiller ( but i love painkiller)...people must listen Sad Wings of Destiny,Ram It Down and all the others!!! i suggest to stop listen Painkiller and The Number and enjoy the others albums!!! (this just talking about the music of the band, nothing to do with the vocals) xD...

  • Bruce sounds better on the Live After Death Album, but he was also 25 years younger too!

  • No, Bruce is MUCH, MUUUUUCH better now, on SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME he blew the shit out of Live After Death...

  • Are you joking? Bruce can sing live just like he can in the studio. Sure he cant sing songs from Number of The Beast like he used to, but when he could, he did a damn good job. And NOW Bruce can sing songs from Brave New World with extreme precision. Same as Rob Halford. He cant sing from the Stained Class album anymore but his newer songs, he sings them perfectly. Theres no point in bickering about this. The Dickinson vs Halford is an old argument. Just enjoy both. I love both equally.

  • I don't have video, but I can say that I saw Judas Priest live in 1990 on that tour and he nailed Painkiller. My friends and I were amazed, we thought that if he could even nail 75-80% of the song it would be impressive, be he was virtually flawless!

  • Oh yeah, you were 1 year old when that tour was going on, so I guess you missed that one Uptheironsserbia666! Just because you get on youtube and watch cellphone bootleg recordings, doesn't mean that you can make an assumption that Rob can't hit all of the notes. If I were to go on all of the shit recordings that are on youtube, then I could say the same for Bruce, however I have seen Maiden 11 times and I can say from experience that Bruce is very good live as well as Rob.

  • No, i didnt say that ROB HALFORD is NOT good... HE IS AMAZING, ONE OF MY FAVORITE SINGER, but he cant sing Painkiller so good... but he is FUCKING GREAT!!!

  • Who can sing Painkiller live so good? Name one person that can sing it in the octave Rob sang it in studio.

  • He has a Magic Voice.

  • Listen to the last verse in Tyrant. That I think is his best work. Such control at such a high range. Incredible.

  • omg *////*

  • the best vocals ever!

judas priest the best band ever!

    amazing !!

  • Is he the higher singer ?

  • Ok.. Listen to the intro of "Savage" from stained class.. THAT is freaky.. A Metal god at his best..

  • I heard bruce dickinson from iron maiden hit a f#5 from where eagles dare live in 83

  • lie

  • look in my favorites in my profile

  • what video? n.n

  • I just checked and his highest note is the scream at the beginning of Dissident Aggressor (listen to the backing vocal track). It's a B5

  • i think is the back vocal in The Ripper Original Song...

  • You might be right, i checked and it sounds like an A5 but it could be higher, it's hard to tell...

  • conchatumadre

  • That's a B6, definitely not B5, cuz this is an F#5 and the DA note is much higher (plus my highest note is between a B#6 and Db6 and singing that note was just about a note under that)

  • No Dissident agressor is a B5. B6 is like an extremely high note

  • I think the highest note on that album is either the one at the end of Dreamer Deceiver or in the last verse of Deceiver but I think his highest note is the last note in Unleashedin the East's The Ripper rendition

  • that song is incredible, also My friend jowox say that is a f5 and g5 in the finish, take a look to the videos of the user Jowox, are amazing...Hail Halford!!!

  • There's a g5 in exciter I know that and I think it's the same note in Deceiver and Ripper that's probably his peak note it's truly incredible but IDT he can do it anymore sadly I'd love to hear him sing Exciter live again

  • Trust me, you don't really want that wish to be fulfilled, I have bootlegs of that atrocity. Imagine the Exciter with the tone he has when singing Betrayal, only thinner. ;-)

  • yeah, exciter in 2003 and 2005 sucked really hard :)

  • the ripper is higher its actually an A5

  • SAVAGE!!!

  • I think he goes higher at the end of Blood Red Skies

  • is a A5,higher than this clip for sure...

  • wheres Savage, and The Ripper, Run of The Mill, soo many great songs by Rob

  • Cause' Rob's the man

  • i see C#7

  • well i use the chromatia tuner...and in the word chaaaaannn mark a c6#..and we finish the word and say geeeeeeeess mark f5...please take a good look...but i believe in You's comment xD...

  • it's probably just the distortion, but it's quite high anyway, theres higher notes later on the album

  • Yeah, not C#6, but definitely a great sound. Man, what a voice!

  • This is high SINGING...and there are a lot more from him.

  • no this is not a C#6. it´s a sung phrase at F#5 which is very impressive. exciter has a smiliar phrase which is at G5.

    classic rob halford singing!
