Ethics comes from the greek Ethos, which is the standard used by Aristotle to describe Virtue as proper conduct.

I think that there is such a thing as the right thing to do, rather than there just being a big mysterious haze of "maybe morality is absolute but I guess I'll never know so in the mean time I'll just sit in the mud and try not to think about it"
