@stratfirstlove what are you referring to when you say VC? whats it short for haha? cause i have a 96 jeep grand cherokee laredo and i ran it without the front driveshaft for a whole summer and it has the AWD quadratrac.
@myjeepcj5 Viscous Coupler. A lot of people do that (including me) because the viscous couple locks up. If you do it and your VC isn't shot, it will be real quick. If you don't, its like its in locking 4WD all the time and it makes it harder to turn in parking lots and stuff. I want to put a 242 in mine if I can find one, but its just 2WD for now.
ive got a 93 zj 5.2 with the vc, mine went bad and stayed locked all the time, took out the front driveshaft now it works great, only bad part you lose park. but my jeep will lay posi down all the time, check out the video shane having fun in s10 truck, youll see my jeep towards the end
if its either 4 high/N/4 low, then do NOT do it...you have the 249 tc. i have the same one. if you do it, you WILL damage it. mine is FRIED and i NEVER took it out. actually, im swapping to the 242 in the next week. 150k with an oil leak was enough to do it. i HATE the 249, but i got one of the first 1995's made (bought in 1994) so the 242 wasn't available yet.
...i have some research done on this, like what splines are used, and what years are interchangeable. only thing i dont have is the input shaft lengths....if anyone has that, PLEASE message me.
If you have a jeep like this, but a 5.9l grand cherokee that is 4wd or awd...i cant remember but im lookin to buy my friends off him but could i get a line lock for it and do sweet burnouts nd stuff or cant i because its 4wd or awd and i wouldnt wanna take the 4wd stuff out cause thats why id get a jeep lol but is it possible to do good burnouts and keep the 4wd stuff? thanks.
yeah well i deffinitly beat a mustang yesterday off the line.. also jeeps arnt for burn outs so i agree with you, they are for crawling up the side of a mountain,, i have one, i do crawl up mountains. ZJ all the way
well yeah thats kinda easy to beat him off the line when you got all wheels pulling so you dont spin...the mustang probly spun like crazy...to make it fair put some slicks on his car and he'd walk all over you...this is my brothers jeep in this video anyways, thats the only reason i commented was to bug him lol...he's all about jeeps and makes fun of my mustang so it only seemed right...
well jeeps are ok if you dont mind one wheel peels...but if you want serious power and lots more fun buy a mustang...thats what real men drive..i could kill that jeep in a burnout comp
hell yeah, thats what my truck is for...but the stang is still alot more fun...i'd take the hp in drag racing over rock crawling anyday...rock crawling and off roading is too slow paced and not as much fun...the adrenilin just doesnt build up as much as drag racing with power
I have a '97 Jeep Grande Cherokee Laredo 4x4 straight 6 4.0L 180,000 miles close to any who and I have had it for 3 years in January and I love it. Have taken her mudding a couple of times and she loves it :) and you can tell cause she never gives any problems. Love Jeep's, have had to fix a couple things on it but as long as you do the normal maintenance and take care of them they will take care of you. Mine is stock and in great condition.
they are supposed to have 220, but mine dynoed at 232 when i first got it stock, just with a glasspack muffler. That was also with 170,000 miles on it! I love jeeps haha.
Hey, the vc in my 249 is already fried, and I have a 231 already to swap in... But thanks for calling me a moron.... Asshat! Lol

moron. taking your front drive shaft out of an AWD transfer case is going to burn your VC!! swap it out with a 231

With the 95, it might not be a good idea to take out the front drive line, depending on what tc it has.
the tc has a vc in it, therefore its bad for one side to be open without anywhere for the power to go.
vc=viscous coupling
my jeep has the np249 tc, so its all time 4 wheel. 1995 5.2 zj
