  • i got a asus m3a mobo. one day i restarted the pc. boot to bios setup set everything back to default. it turned off then on then the screen said restoring system i waited till it hit %100 and the px restarted but now it wont post. any help would be appreciated

  • SWEET THIS WORKED !!! ^__^ I watched video and saw tweezers and used it on green and black wire connectors and it turned on. BTW I don't know why the computer won't turn on through the power button.

  • *psu

  • Hi I'm facing a similar problem video up on my channel. But that psi jumping thing you did, someone care to explain how to do it

  • Recently after playing battlefield 3 on ultra graphics for a few hours my computer shut down, My first thought was that my cpu had over heated but when I tried to power the system back on it would'nt start, there was no power going to the system at all no fans spinning ect. What could have caused this?

    System spec:

    Amd phenom II x6 1090T 3.5Ghz

Ati 6970 HD 2GB ( Installed. same day as the problem started!)

    Corsair 4GB DDR3 Ram

    620w Non-Modular PSU.

    ASRock N68C-S UCC Mobo.

  • @xtredxdudex

    Maybe GPU has overheated

But I think it's your PSU has overheated becose it has a lower Watage that needed.

Does your PSU is still working now?

According to the manufacturer "Power Supply Estimator" your configuration need at least 650 W of power.

.. if you have 2 harddisks you will need 700 Watts

You should take a look there support. asus. com/powersupply.aspx and specify your hardware, you will have a good estimation of what Wattage you need therically.

    Hope this help

  • @Cendar100 My PSU will not power on at all now about a week after it shut down.

I've used the PSU on another old intel mobo I have and it powered the green light but would'nt power any fans or make any beeps. I then tried an old 320w PSU that I had and that worked and every thing powered up on the old intel board. The 320w PSU I got won't fit on my old board it has really old connections for drives ects, so I ordered a 750W TX Corsair PSU but I'm afraid that my old PSU kiled my mobo/gpu/cpu/ram

  • @dxproductions100

Indeed it's my only ECS MoBo .. all others Asus and Asrock have no problem.

  • @Cendar100 and ASROCK is shit too, dont ever go with them. 3 of them order in my repair shop ALL DOA >:(

  • if you still have this board: all you have to do is check if the tiny Resistor in front of the (+) pin of the Power Switch is short. If not, find the single Mosfet near Southbridge or Power connector and check for leak. Or find shorted tiny resistor near Power Connector. Usually SIO Chip receives the signal from the Power Pin Panel. To check if its faulty, test the voltage of any Input socket such as PS2 Keyboard pin and should measure 5v, other than 5v you have a faulty SIO. replace faulties.

  • @vidz022 Message me once you fixed it... :-)

  • Just follow my previous post for instruction. For ACPI or what we call SIO Chip that is faulty, only same chip from same Mobo brand is suitable replacement.

  • @vidz022

Thank you I will try this as soon as possible

The MoBo is obsolete now, it's only for P4 cpu's :)

But I will try only for self experience.

    Thanks a lot for reply.

  • @Cendar100

have you tried the repair I suggested? lemme know =)

  • i put a new power supply on my computer and now nothing turns on the i went and hook up the factory one and still nothing turns on does any one know why lol?

  • @Garyhernandez

Have you double-chekc this in this order :

    - Outlet wall is ok, does it give current, can you connect another electrical device on it and power on it ? (like a lamp bulb)

    - Are you sure of your power cable ? Try another one.

    - Did you switch to "I", the rear I/O power switch behind computer?

    - All ATX connector are connected?

    - Does the front panel power bouton's wires arre well connected on the MoBo ?on the right pin?

    - Does your RAM, PCI/AGP card are well seated?

    not enuf char

  • Looks like a good "PC analyzer" card what are the detals, modle make etc.. Thanks :)

Thiere is a latching circuit that trips the power pulse on/off. This may be the issue here.

  • @Films4You

It's only a "PC analyzer" typed in eBay and bought at 1 $ from China

    In the bootlet :

    Model : KLP4

    Qi Guan Electronic Company

    61131568 . c0m

I'm sure the issue is the FET near the ACPI circuit.

  • inspect cmos jumpers sometimes its stops it from booting hope this helps :)

  • @Extremeish11

I've already clear the CMOS, upgrade BIOS, checked all jumper, disabled all feature etc ...

    My MoBo has burned.

  • O hai dere... My PC doesent start.... I press the power button and only da red light is on ... the green light stays off... Whut I can do?

  • @mariorulez244

Have you tried the PSU (Power Supply) alone ?

Maybe your PSU is dead or does'nt give enought current

  • @Cendar100 Yes the motherboard was dead. I bought two months ago.

  • i think i had a same problem...my motherboard led is blinking but no power on..before this i burn my cm 500w psu..i check my motherboard is ok..can boot normaly with power on manually..

  • Excellent video my computer power supply pretty cool but the power button led

becom dim than before and it connented to the main supply so what reason could be

plz reply and second things the extra fan with case could i connect with motherboard

system fan which gives 12 volt or to the main supply connections....thanks

  • @strangerlover11

1.) Looks like not enough Voltage, Current or Power (Watt, W), maybe your PSU is going bad or you have a new PCI-e that need more power.

2.) if the connector fit, it is made for, yes you can.

  • @Cendar100 Actually the Case led was not connented to the motherboard but directly connected to the power

supply and when I asked to the computer shop they told me may be the problems will be with the led and when I check out the power supply it was about 5 volts...........even than thanks for your reply.

  • just to be safe, is it cords [15] and [16(green)] or [16(green)] and [17]

  • I do that with mine but i have to hold it in to power it on but only the fans turns on, nothing else

  • @TomasMods watch?v=IVFY98ozefw&feature=related

  • @TomasMods try this, it seems to be easy

  • Two ways to try:

    1. if it's just the lines from ATX/pwr-on pins on the mbo, not the chip - maybe this trick will do: in the BIOS try to set a power on event (some key, anykey, combination, power on by LAN, mouse move etc)

    2. if that does not work, and mbo boots with ATX green and black wire connected, then the problem could be resolved with some kind of transistor switch, that will go on (shorting the gereen and black wire) and go off (picking the pwr-off signal from the mbo)-some bistable device?

  • @zeljac

    1. I've tryied all ACPI/APM WakeOn features available on BIOS. I think the ACPI chip has burned or some circuit that feed this chip.

    2. Yep I thought about that but on some forum/websites many people say that method is not good for MoBo and PSU life.

  • @ultragaming1993

I know that my English in my explaination is shitty ....

I'm not giving you a trick, I asked to everyone to find an another way to power-up the MoBo without the Black/Green trick.

Do you have another way to do this ?

    All constructive advice is welcome.

    Cheers

  • @Cendar100 no i don't realy have. And the only way it can it by the power button what is connected to the front pannel connecters what go's to an chip or something, actually a shortcut to the power supply, what will connect and dissconnect the green and black cable i think..

  • @Cendar100 And sorry for my shit english^^

  • Hi, I want to ask if is there a way to fix this problem and if you have a link to provide step by step how to do it, its an emergency :).

    Thanks for your video.

  • @djcoolito

Sorry I'm still waiting for an another way from the Youtube community.

I've also posted thread on some forums, unfortunately people on forum don't understand me, the most response was :

    - RMA it (send back to manufacturer)-> I can't because I bought it in second hand AND I made the mistake to put a bad Power Supply on it

    - Put in the trash-> I can't because the MoBo is working fine when I power-up with Black/Green cable.

    - Use ACPI (power on : Keyboard, Mouse)-> is dead on my MoBo

  • @Cendar100 - remove some of the insulation on the PSU Green and Black wires, and join the case power button directly to them, then cover with insulation (or heat shrink).

  • I'm sorry all you guys to reply lately.

  • hey i need help, i was using my computer normally, when all of sudden the processor just turned off, i tried turning it back on but it wont, also i tried unplugging the power cord and replugging it but still no luck. when i plug in the power there is a led light that turns off and when i press the power button the light turns off. i need help. i have a HP pavilion desktop and just bought it about a year ago. this shouldn't be happening!!

  • @roboduke1086891

I guess your problem is solved ? Was you able after a while to power upp your computer ?

HP User's guide is well documented, try find "Appendix" at the end of the booklet and seek for Troubleshooting"

  • @Cendar100

no my problem is not solved.

It's a ECS motherboard wich a elecronical component is burned

I see it, it seems to be a FET or maybe it's the ACPI chip was burned, becose none of APM/ACPI command works

I'll connect the Green/Black cables with a push button, I know that is really not advised by specialists (because it's a shortcut).

It is why I posted this video, to find sumeone to give me an alternative to powerup this computer in another way but non-lethal for the system.

  • @roboduke1086891

HP is a serious company that provide a good Support on their WebSite, you should also check on the User's manual the chapter : Appendix, Troubleshoot, Errors ....

If you bought it one year ago -> RMA it !

Bassically what you should test first :

    - Remove all periferals (except VGA and Power Cable) and try.

    - Try to reset the BIOS, and try

    - Change the power wall plug (maybe current is not enough) plug it alone (without other apparels)

    - Check if your VGA Card is well seated

  • hi bro my compaq laptop m2000 's motherboard wont start

    from charger and battery also

    no light in main board

  • @bhanoki

Did you try without the battery, but only with the charger ?

Maybe you DC connector on your laptop is defective ? Are you sure that your AC adapter is giving current ?

Did you try to remove peripheral like CD-rom, HDD, RAM ? (RAM is needed for minimal power up)

Have you tried to reset the BIOS ?

  • It starts, but the screen shows no signal input. I dont got a PCI Diagnostic Card. Sorry.

  • @RadicalFireCA

    It's typically :

    - VGA / DVI cable no set

    - Cable in the wrong output of Graphic Card (now most of Graphics Card have two output)

    - a pin on the connector cable (VGA or DVI) that is not straight

    - Graphic Card not well inserted on the AGP or PCI-e slot.

    - Graphic Card with not enough voltage (check your PSU wattage, and the wattage needed for your graph card)

    - Try your monitor on other computer to be sure id not the issue.

  • hey bro got a question,i have the same problem the only difference is any

mine doesnt turn on at all any suggestions??

  • @Treazurer Sorry to reply lately, ok did you try in this order :

    - Tried to power-up your PSU (Power Supply Unit) ? (unpluged from MoBo) Or does your PSU works alone whit the Black/Green ATX cable trick ?

    - Remove all connected Devices (USB, PCI, IDE, SATA) that is not necesary to Power-up the computer. So only : Motherboard, Processor (CPU), Memories (RAM), Video controller (VGA) and the Power Supply (PSU) on a table (plastic, wooden, NEVER ON METALIC OBJECTS) to made good test.

  • @Treazurer

Check Thermal Paste, Heatsink and FAN on CPU.

    Check CPU PIN's

Try with another RAM or even another Power Supply

Do the FAN spin for 1-2 seconds when doing Green/Black ATX cable trick ?

When the PSU connected on the MoBo (Rear Power Switch on) does have a Green steady LED on the MoBo ?

  • hi where i got one of those pci card because i recently bought a ecs and only turn the fans but not post no bios no video the mobo its A790GXM-AD3 help

  • @testdirver

    Hi,

What code do you have on you PCI card, what this code mean according the booklet given with the PCI card ?

No post, No bios, no video sounds like bad Bios, or during an upgrade flash Bios faillure.

May be try with the same Bios from another Mobo if you have the same.

If is still to warranty --> RMA it !

  • HI already send the mother but they say the mobo its ok so in pci card the code shows its "D5" so apparently its the ram the memory its already in waranty

  • Did you ever figure out what was causing this problem?

  • @urteknerd

    Thanks for posting comments.

Yes I did on the first sentence of my video infos at the right side --> :

"I burned my brand new MoBo ECS 945GZT M with a bad PSU."

    PSU : Power Supply Unit

  • I doubt anything is burned, make sure your case power button is working.

Also, try RMA the mobo. ECS isn't a great brand, so this problem might be caused by poor build quality.

I suggest taking this problem to the Ars Technica forum. They have quick responses and are useful.

  • @forumdude123

at 0:10 I'm shorting pin's where the case power button is pluged, I make a short circuit as power button do, I've already tested with different case power button from other computer.

I bought it in second hand, and I can't RMA it because I pluged a Power Supply which give faulty voltage. It my fault, I see a burned FET on the mobo near the F_Panel pin's

I'll will take a look to Ars Technica forum.

    Thank you a lot

  • @Cendar100 you are welcome :) Ars Technica will be a valuable source of help for all your tech needs, its the only forum I use!
