@djmixcha - flat packing will get you in trouble? how do aussies pack student gear? like 260+ sqft canopies? surely you can make money and be a better jumper by knowing your gear and learning to flatpack?
it is possible to do a flat pack standing up and a propack with the chute on the ground (so say riggers i have spoken to here in the UK), it's just about the method really.
to answer killkill999flipside, right up until 2:30ish where he lays it down back to front, this is a pretty standard packjob (PRO-pack not flat / side) ... after that it's really the bagjob (how you get it in the bag) which differs, probably seen in pt 2 ...
not a method for a rookie. you could pack it that way, but there is a danger that, when u want to put these thing into your pot, some parts slide into others. keep packing by a nice and clean propack. and remember, the most important thing is, that the air gets smooth into your parachute and that the lines are free.
F111 ripstop has a lower permeability, which is often mistakenly called porosity than regular ripstop... but is highter than zero-p (zero porosity) you can also factor in the holes of the stitching in the top and bottom skin...
I havnt learned how to flat pack yet! I want to learn because i know people that can show me.. but.. the reason i am waiting a while is because I dont want to learn how to flat pack just yet... I dont want to get funny ideas about jumping from places i shouldnt be :)
Base jumping is ilegal in Australia but if i learn how to flat pack im sure i will get into trouble haha :)
@djmixcha How does that make any sense?? hahahha. Flat packing is fun. On my last canopy, a PD 9 cell f111, it worked well! I have my rig unpacked on my living room floor right now, bout to give this a go. If I don't post back in a few days the opening killed me hahaha
Nice video but It would be nice to see someone pack a chute using the flat packing method all I see is the pro packing method. Also I am guess I am taught the old way and the flat pack is all they taught at the time.
and Pro packing is a lil confusing to me and seems very messy.
Could you do a flat packing video PLZZZZZZZZZZZ.. many thank
are you dead like seriously this video should be in the top one million things that can go wrong if you don't prep

Just dont DROP YOUR PACK, retard, LAY IT DOWN. may not have any adverse effects, but you never know!!!

Incomplete vid. This just shows flaking etc. The point about psycho packing is turning the canopy on its back and what you do with it after.

P.S. ahh... it's 1of2, but only 4 minutes long ... each segment :-/

Yup, pshcho pack is AKA roll pack and it's really shown in the second part. It starts with the canopy laid on it's back after flaking.

what is flat pack? is that like sidepack?
741741 3 years ago
From my understanding it just means you are packing the canopy laying on the ground, rather than hanging.

Yes AFAIK, canopy laid on side nose to one side tail to others and all line groups laid out separately & visible.
