We're reading this book in school right now for my level 3 English class. And I have to say that while I understand why so many people hate it, I love it.
Granted, it's not the writing style that I love, nor whatever lesson the author is trying to preach. What I love about this book is Hagar. Not the present-day Hagar, but the Hagar of the past. The fiercely independent, stubborn, proud young woman. She's got her faults—probably everything about her—but I just can't help but love her spirit.
