Yes, you're right tax rates were up into the 90%+ and things turned out okay... But there comes a point where it isn't even worth it for people to even go work or invest or create jobs when they're being raped so badly by taxes(39% doesn't include payroll (7.65%) or state taxes). My point is simply that taking money from these people and giving it to the "non-producers," combined with the INSANE amount of spending is a recipe for DISASTER. Depression #2 here we come!

You are right, you don't want the taxes to be so burdensome that it isn't worth moving up in the world. Practically speaking, I have a feeling that it is a small minority who let their fate be dictated by how much they would get taxed once they strike it rich/richer.
Separately, I do think there is a moral issue with taxing people just "because they can afford it." or because it is "good for the whole" in some way.
However, wealthy people also benefit disproportionately from lots of state sector spending(welfare programs aside), so it is a tricky issue.

They were much steeper than they are today (90% for the highest bracket under Eisenhouer compared to 39% under Obama) and the economy grew very quickly during most of that time.

But there comes a point where it isn't even worth it for people to even go work or invest or create jobs when they're being raped so badly by taxes(39% doesn't include payroll (7.65%) or state taxes). My point is simply that taking money from these people and giving it to the "non-producers," combined with the INSANE amount of spending is a recipe for DISASTER. Depression #2 here we come!

Good comment! Limbaugh has Balack O'Sambo running scared! He knows Rush has his number and has put his communist agenda under a microscope and exposing it for what it really is for all to see. If it weren't for people like Rush, Sean and Savage we'd be enjoying MILLIONS of taco benders and their relatives "come out of the shadows"(if I hear that phrase again I'll loose it). It was the likes of Rush that caused the White House phones to be jammed the day they were to vote on amnesty.

You're right about Rush's influence, Dale. Rush was also the biggest reason why Harriet Meiers did not make it to the Supreme Court.
Look at support for the stimulus - it's down to 37% approval. Give it about a week and the stimulus will have lower approval ratings than George Bush.
