  • amazing!! you draw stewie?? wth!!! i only hear voices not art

  • @MagicalLouigi You might want to click on part 2.

  • Title speaks the truth

  • @CheeseWedgie If you ever want to do a draw-off, let me know.

  • Question, why does litterally everyone draw their comics on A4 paper instead of not just use photoshop to create the entire comic?. Im not saying photoshop is the correct way, ive never made a comic before but i am a digital artist that uses PS everyday, im just wondering why its only used to colour the art, or not used at all

  • @SamHain1031666 Not everyone does it that way. Some do digital comics. I know that some PROFESSIONAL comic artists do all digital comics. Most who draw comics on paper use 11x17 comic book paper. I use CHEAP computer paper because it's cheaper, and it takes WAY too long for me to draw digitally. I am much faster on paper, but that's just me. To each their own. It doesn't matter how the art gets there, as long as it gets there. Whatever tells the story and keeps the story moving.

  • Totally, i wasnt knocking your work ethic, i just noticed that every single comic making tutorial ive seen online consists of someone taking an A4 sheet of paper and drawing the entire thing, so naturally it made me question whether they do it that way coz its better. Im trying to get my first comic started right now but i already know i could never create it on paper, mostly due to the inclusion of speech bubbles which are easy to make space for in photoshop, thanks for responding

  • @SamHain1031666 I know. Just letting you know that's not what everyone does. If you can finish it all digitally, more power to ya. I know that's what the MyExtraLife dude does. I think Brian Bolland also went totally digital.

  • @SamHain1031666 I do all my my work now on Photoshop. i did start with paper like all should. but yes some of us do it all in photoshop.

  • @julianaguilera Thanks, i just recently stopped using photoshop, corel painter 12 is better, both practically the same but corel is more built for artists, photoshops for photo editors

  • @SamHain1031666 they use the A4 paper because its formatted for publication. A4 deleter paper also has blue guidelines so the art doesnt get cut off when they go to print it (the center spine of the book). The quality of the paper is amazing too from personal experience. Its like a piece of poster board and pencil marks are very easy to erase on it. It's also thick enough for coloring, not sure how watercolor would be on it but copic markers work fine on it.

  • I would read this! Where may I find it????? and stop saying crappy art work man, totally not! Love revege too......................

  • i have tht exact same mug

  • @monee2fly Cool. I got mine a few years ago in some marvel mug pack at target or something.

  • @eddiechinglives I have it, too.

  • lol I like you XD

millimeters or whatever... that's funny. All the other tutorials just either have music, or some dude with a really boring ass voice. And the already ready paper thing was smart.. lol and here I am measuring with my ruler and pulling my hair out when a line comes out crooked XD

  • @BlackRose2354 Thank you very much, Black Rose.

  • where do i get ur comic? cause you have got very great dialogue, art, and confidence. these look really great. :D

  • are u married or is that a purity ring?

  • @cartoonmaniac13kid You've got crazy observation skills. Married fyi.

  • @eddiechinglives well i didnt actually watch it ui suck dude

  • @cartoonmaniac13kid Want to do a draw off? You pick the character. I'll do mine on mspaint next week. If not, thanks for your valuable critique and taking the time to comment.

  • @eddiechinglives NO ILL PASS I DONT WASTE MY TIME ON CHALLENGES ANYWAY

  • @cartoonmaniac13kid I kind of figured that much from negative commenters like you. All talk, and they can't back anything up. I really value your opinion. Thanks for the comment.

  • are you married or is that a purity ?

  • You sound so high

  • @TheStapleZ It's most likely sleep deprivation....unfortunately. I have a job that does randoms, so alcohol is my lonely friend on the weekends. Keep drawing everybody!

  • @eddiechinglives now I feel guilty, your AWSOME DUDE!

  • Wow, that's actually a really good idea. Glad you thought of it.

  • @flailingwings I stole it from the guy that draws that ZITS comic strip.

  • the end there you sounded like Jack Black lol

  • No. Bam. Done.

haha great video, very inspiring. I haven't made a comic book in too long.

  • what the....

  • this IS stupid!

  • Isn't it, though?

  • im ten im making a comic with my friends

  • @goawayzoo me 2 but we copy our comics on a copy machine and sell them

  • @cakesofffire i made about 100 comic issues then i animated them now all i need is voice overs and its done

  • I'm working on a comic too, this helped a bunch Mr. Eddie, thank you!

  • I am making a comic too,a anime one with spiderman and the hulk,lol....once I get past this artist's block, video is good btw.

  • Do you draw or write comics professionaly?

  • Not yet. My day job and lack of talent and laziness is getting in the way of that. Just trying to spread inspiration, to let people know you don't have to wait to BREAK IN to make comics. In fact, most comic artists didn't wait until they broke in either. They were making comics since the 5th grade.

  • Sweet, I've been drawing/writing comics since I was little, and recently realized it's something I want to do professionally. Just want to let you know those videos help man.

  • @eddiechinglives i made comics since 2nd :D lol

  • im makeing a star wars comic

  • Rock on!

  • hiya Joe good luck with that but you may want to get ask George Lucas first!

then again , i've seen a doctor who comic that has been published without permission from the BBC

  • ye i love his personality too, anyone got any tips for creating a superhero cos mine come out all crappy

  • Keep trying. Find what you like about super heroes and do your take on that. You learn something new with each new drawing you do. Dave Sim says it takes 2000 bad pages to figure out how to do it right, so keep at it. Never stop learning and drawing.

  • yeh I have to do like 100 sketches for the drawing class, so don't study design if you don't like to draw lol. Seriously, practice often ;)

  • give them a proud pose, no average joe shit :)

  • Haha I love your personality. Great tutorial~

  • YOUR SO GOOD IM YOUR NUMBER ONE FAN :D

  • no im his number 1 fan! im jk i can settle for being his 2nd!

    Helped A LOT!

    I mean it

  • Thanks for all the nice comments. I really do appreciate them, and glad I can help.

  • Your sooo fricken' lazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    good tutorial though!

  • I plan on giving you a hateful witty response when I get around to it someday. Glad you thought it was a good tutorial. I'm trying to inspire the actually talented people on youtube to do some vids like these. It's one thing to do a vid on how to draw. But it's another to show WHY. What the thought process is when you go into a page. So far, it hasn't worked out, so you guys have to settle for me out of default.

  • I am eventually gonna make one but for now I only have a how to draw sonic and comic makint tools vid. its cuz....my camera is messed up nooo!!!!

  • you are funny

  • Thanks.

  • Lolll mm XD!!!!! ahaha righteous !

  • ahem 16 cm's

  • Thanks.

  • Dude I love you. Thanks for this.

  • man u talk so fast i mean really fast

  • wow this video was EXTREMELY helpful and it actually motivated me to start my own. the only problem is im not that good of an artist. anyway ur probably a busy person but i hope one day u can make detailed video on how to use photoshop or paint shop pro because i tried using it once and went blank lol

  • What kind of markers does he use

  • The only REAL marker I use is that Micron #5, because it doesn't bleed when writing on the crappy computer paper. All other markers are either sharpies or generic dollar store markers. I have thick square point markers that I rarely use, some regular magic markers, and some thinner markers. Basically, a variety of sizes so I can grab a big fat marker for blacking out, or I can grab a thin tip to do outlines of clothes and figures. It doesn't matter what brand, except for that Micron for letters.

  • i cant count how many times i heard the word "thing" xD

  • ya i no

  • wuahaha i liked this one

  • Whats up Eddie, It's Spidey from Penciljack. I always wanted to make one of these videos (and probably still will), because I never seen any decent ones around youtube. I just gotta say you did a pretty good job on this though. You might wanna work on your tool lingo though. Ruler thingy"? Haha, kudos.

  • the tip with using bristol board for a template for page sizes has really helped me. Thanks!

  • centemeters?

  • Bingo!

  • rotfl at " Supplies! - a mug full of pens and crap"

  • Haha this is funny. I'll be watching your other vids!

  • Thanks!

  • This helped me a lot with my comics cause all i have been doin is makin like practice comics or precomics about my stuff and they sucked. But this tutorial helped me so much. EDDIECHINGLIVES YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you. Glad I could help.

  • i get tired of hearing things to, but when you can draw better then the next man who has a fully colored and lettered book with a publishing deal you start to feel different. as artist we most be flexible to survive, or you become a victum of the times. Those who refused to change in an ever changing environment seem to become fosuls of what once was, but "if you over specialize u will breed in weakness...its slow death" (major kusanogi of ghost n da shell)programs are nothing more then tools.

  • Oh, tell me someone who don't have heard about photoshop these days.

Not that I want to start a battle out of this, but plz, let people coice themself when they want to get digitalized.

It's just irritating to hear folks' push others to use something they think is better.

He does his work his way, and you does it your way.

  • whats better 4 a person depends upon the artist. i meat a lot of artist who want to inquire about comics like myself at one point. the better tools, the better my work on top of the talent. going digital saves alot of money, (bristol boards, inks etc)and ur work is industrie quality (or higher). inks, letters and color, can all be done by one person who can use photoshop (and painter). these programs are nothing more then tools. if its not 4 u then its not.

  • I'm kidding, jesus christ.

  • by the way...eddiechinglives ur dope, i think ur shit iz awsome!

  • Thanks!

  • welcome, looking forward to seeing more of ur vids, im stuck at the art table myself. where were u like ten years ago, i could of used it. most artist dont sure information.

  • TOO ALL...forget microns, forget bristol boreds. get ah

    1)tech pencil

    2)copy paper

    3)scanner, wacom

4)abobe photoshop.(no more inking, use levels)

    5)lite box, rular, eraser.

you know all the tools now, art is ever changing, we as artist are always looking for faster and more accurate resalts. who has the skill and the technical know how are the ones that will b ahead of the game.

P.S down with marvel, no more super heros in tights!! more laptop guns and remote nukes.

  • I had to remove a couple of posts. I don't want it to get too negative on here. Lets keep it friendly and try to avoid the F word if we can. I appreciate the comments and the debate. Sorry about removing some posts. Just trying to keep it friendly around here.

  • Seriously, I love making problems.

But the problem is, when you draw it accurately it's hard to draw same pic in everyframe, gets really anoying.

  • Some artists use tracing paper and put the characters underneath their drawings to keep the proportions correct. If you do it online, you can copy and paste on a new layer. I struggle with consistency as well, so you might not want to take my word for it.

  • try ah porta trace lite box.

  • THANKS THAT HELPED ALOT!!!! i WATCHED YOUR VIDEO LIKE 30 TIMES

  • "The great will always soar above the mediocre. They create while others destroy."

  • This is so great! I have been practicing creating comics for a while, but I don't really know how. Thanks 4 the awsome vid and I can learn now!

  • This isn't the best way, but it's the No Excuses way of how to make comics.

  • Thankyou SO SO SO MUCH

Im just starting to help someone with a comic when I realised "waaait..I dunno how to do those!" but I CAN draw :B Thanks again.

    I love you.

    You read?

    I love you D:<

  • Thank you! Glad these vids are helping people out! I aim to inspire.

  • where did you get your tools from

  • The micron I got at Michaels. The rest can be found at any grocery store or office supply star. Basically Walmart and Dollar Stores for my markers and pencils.

  • is it cm or mm?

  • cm. thanks.

  • You are right about the centemeter. One of many mistakes in this video series. I guess I should have PLANNED. Thanks guys!

  • lol 16 mm by 24 mm this sentence is bigger.

  • I think you were talking about cm not mm

  • Hey! Thanks! Glad I am of some use to you guys!

  • Thnx for making these vids. I make comics with stuff laying around the house too, and your vids really helped. Keep it up!

  • nice man, you really did get to the point XD

  • learned so much already...lol =D

  • wow i really like that you get straight to the point. awesome! ima go on and continue with this tutorial!

  • u kept it interesting :D thanks for not making it so boring xD im ganna watch part 2 now! xD

  • This is really good, thank you. :D

  • No problem. Thanks for the kind words!

  • straight to the point as an arrow!

    thats what we want.

    thanks mate!

  • Thank you!

  • can i use a v signpen to take black on there haire and pants ...

how pen do i use in the start hven i shud make the strips? and must i use a hb pensil first??

  • The cool thing about comics is that you can make them however you want. By all means, experiment with various pens until you find some that work for you. A pen I might like, might be miserable for another person. You don't have to use a pencil to rough out, but it does help!

  • I use cheap sharpie pens and markers, and a micron for lettering that won't bleed on my cheap computer paper. But others use crow quills and microns and radiograph pens and bristol board. Use whatever is affordable or comfortable to you.

  • where do you get the paper for it cuz i cant find anywhere in times square im gonna check manhattan over the weekend

  • I just use cheap computer paper. Most comic artist use a thicker bristol board, or thicker paper, 11x17 with a 10x15 image area. You can find computer paper at Walmart, Staples, maybe Kinkos or Walgreens maybe. The brighter the paper, the better, but if you want to go cheap, you can find a big pack for 5 bucks or under. You can buy bristol board at Michaels. It's expensive. There is thick 11x17 computer paper at staples. It's like 10 bucks for a pack of 100 or so.

  • They have blue line boards for sale, but that can get expensive. It averages out to like a buck a page, so I get intimidated drawing on that stuff, so I prefer computer paper. NOT THE NORM. Just what I do. I wish I was in Time Square. I heard theres a few good comic shops there.

  • best ones are the ones that you cant see

  • What is your story called

  • your comic tutorials ROCK!!!

  • Hey, thanks!

  • no prob thay help alot!!

  • Centimeter,

  • Thanks. I'm an idiot.

  • i have a cramp cause i can't think of a idea for my comic?

  • Don't get too frustrated. The writing phase is the hardest. Keep an idea journal. People come up with ideas all the time. It's called playing what-if. Or wouldn't it be funny if... but many, me included, don't jot these wonderful ideas down.

  • I do jot some down. And if you still don't have any ideas, you can do a comic about yourself. And if, like me, your life isn't that interesting, exaggerate and make-up situations for comic effect. Figure out how many pages you want to make your comic. 4...8...12...16...22, and make a list going 1-thru-whatever and try to fit your story into that structure.

  • what if . . . my life was more interesting

    xDDD

  • thanks that helped me alot

  • Thank You SO MUCH!!!! I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS SINCE LAST WEEK!!! THNX FOR UPLOADING!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, I forgot to mention munchie supplies. Generik munchie supplies at that.

  • Lol! I saw nilla wafers... those things are AWESOME!

  • It's just the cheap printer paper that you put in your printer. It's like 500 sheets for like 3-5 bucks. There's no such thing as stupid questions. At least that's the arguement I keep telling my wife.

  • Stupid question- what is "computer paper"? Is that the graphing paper w/ the light blue square pattern? Hard to make out in the vid.

  • normal 8.5" x 11" white paper

  • The great mystery has been solved. JAJA!

  • The cardstock template is a cool idea.
