Mathematicians have calculated this about Noah's Ark:
1.) Stacked from the ceiling of the Ark to the floor each animal would have had to have less than 1 cubic foot of space per animal.
2.) Even if every animal were miniature-sized like that there would have been no room for them to move around or even breath.
3.) Zero room for food, hay, etc.
4.) It would have taken centuries to gather up 2 of every animal in the world (if even possible) and those gathered up first would have been long dead.

It is strange, that some of the stuff is "not to be taken literally" and other is;
As concrete examples: the whole sex-issue, including homosexuality - but it is true for all isuues there.
The point is, that the bible does give NO ANSWER to which items are to be taken literally and which not. Therefore, they (believers) need leaders (Ted Haggard, Khomeini, Hitler...), to tell them what is good and what is bad.

Many of the early books of the The Old Testament were to put across a point, not try and prove to stubborn, moronic idiots nit picking and every little thing that isn't QUITE relavent anymore, disregarding the fact that it is 2000 years old, such as Adam and Eve. Well like I've said, the Bible, and that story in particular, are not deadicated to proving God's existance. They're just guidelines of how to live your life and such. If they wanted to prove it, they easily could have, but that wasn't the point. Christians are just informed and intelligent enough to realise that people woulden't write 60 books or so of encounters with Jesus for the fuck of it.

There's a great video on youtube, 'Bible is Bullshit' by the brilliant Penn and Teller, that says the Noah myth originated in Iraq, when some guy rode out a local flood with provisions and the rest is exaggeration as the story was adopted by successive religious groups. I'd like to know how xians explain how all those animals were supposed to find their ways back to their home countries afterwards.
