  • Mmm sounds beau----OH GOD. OH. GOD!

  • lol.just makes you realise how hard they work and what natural talent they have.I recon she had a laugh

  • Aunque al mejor cazador se le va la paloma esta claro que el piano no tiene la mejor afinación.

  • Go listen to Victo Borge and Leonid Hambro massacre Tchaikovski. Its hilarious and so is this.

  • Martha was one hot totty back in the day.

Her looks have really gone into the toilet of late.

About ten years ago she could still qualify as a GILF, but now she's just, well, old.

    Her pianism remains exquisite however.

  • Absolutely hilarious. I had tears rolling down my cheeks and could hardly breath.

  • And the point of this stupid video is what?

  • @magnetiktrax Is your first name Marta by any chance?

  • Wonderful . This IS real . That was one of her major performance , but after an english dinner made by a japanese chef .

  • how can you do this? I mean to leave the orchestra but remove piano

  • @newFranzFerencLiszt I didn't really remove the piano, but I lowered the volume of the video than the volume of my piano, so when I played over it, you couldn't really hear the original piano. Around 0:52, I lowered the volume even more, since the orchestra is just pizzicato.

  • @OrangeSodaKing oh! I didn't notice it..

  • @OrangeSodaKing can you make another version with Horowitz play Carmen variations? :D

  • horrible

  • oh my god lol

  • HAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAAAA she sounds like me playing! You made me laugh.

The sad thing is that there are some people who couldn't tell the difference between this performance and the real one.

  • i almost died laughing, and that's after reading the comments in advance and KNOWING it was a joke

  • you're stupid, but in a good way

  • xDDD qué joputas jajaaj

  • Wonderful. Just as much fun is to be had from the comments of the ever-present YouTube idiots who take this kind of fun seriously.

  • OMFG, hilarious!

  • The mere assumption her piano playing could be sooo bad is ravishing, absolutely hilarious!

  • What is this BS?

  • Loved it lolololol

  • I CAN'T BELIEVE HER PLAYING IS THIS BAD!

  • @OnlineEgoFTW - Are you trying to prove my point?

  • This cracked me up. Thanks.

  • Oh come on! I love Martha's playing and found this hilarious! It's a joke guys!

  • This is very disrespectful to a pianist who dedicated her entire life to classical music. This is not funny and should be reported to YouTube to take it down. If this were done to your own playing, how will you feel? Even if you don't like Martha, please respect her as an individual just like you would like others to respect you. Whoever has uploaded this, please take corrective action.

  • @lilyjubilee Thank you.

  • @lilyjubilee WooooooooooooooooW.

  • @lilyjubilee Oh, shut up.

  • @lilyjubilee shut up , you idiot , hahahahah ......

  • So much uproar! Y u mad YouTube? A good shred has me dying of laughter, and I'm a composer and pianist.

  • @crunchbite22 Are you also a teacher?

  • @chrissamm I am. More importantly, why are you still coming back to this video to argue with people? Do you like fueling the fire, adding to the video's view count, or do you honestly think that you'll "win" an internet argument? Let those of us who get a kick out of "shredding" watch what we watch, and you can watch what you watch.

  • @crunchbite22 I have a right to argue my point, which I feel is a valid one. I'm not doing it because I win an argument, and besides anyone who reads our exchange can decide for themselves who "won" the argument. I want make sure that everyone knows that Martha Argerich doesn't play this way, and that you are not "stupid" (like @Fucklesticks says) if you think this way after watching this video.

  • @chrissamm Oh noes, someone is wrong on the internet! Yeah who cares if someone thought this was real? What are the consequences? If they actually gave a shit they would watch the related videos and realize this is a joke, as if it wasn't obvious enough already. Also, no offense but you sound like a bitter old woman having her period.

  • @Fucklesticks Okay who is fueling the fire here (old woman with period etc.)? in any case, naive people don't realize this is a joke, and honest students (who are by definition naive) do give a shit whether they get the truth. Okay, maybe this is what's wrong with the internet, I realized this long ago and this is why I don't let my kids go on the internet at all (until they are old enough). But let's not be part of the problem, okay?

  • @chrissamm Ironically, you talk about naive people, but that's exactly what your children are going to be if you deprive them of internet access, they'll be the future idiots thinking these are real...

  • @chrissamm But no wonder, you're naive too! So naive, in fact, that you assume all those young students are so innocent and ignorant about the Internet (which they probably grew up with) that you think you have to step in and babysit them, completely underestimating their intelligence. You are part of the problem, indeed!

  • @Fucklesticks Children are children, they need to be told things. Once they are old enough to spot things on the internet that are problematic (like stupid "shred" videos) and ask us about them, they are allowed on the internet. And now I need to tell you that I will not engage in further dialog with you since you are not capable of having an intelligent and respectful discussion since you did not grow up respecting others including differing point of views.

  • @chrissamm Blablablabla ..... you old pot !

  • @crunchbite22 If you are a teacher you know that misleading your pupils is a bad thing. I think saying 2+2=5 is not particularly funny especially in a culture where kids' math skills are lagging behind more and more and everyone is scratching their head why this is so. Maybe it is because the culture tends more and more support getting a kick out of mocking honest people who try to do things correctly and in particular succeed in doing so.

  • i don't get the humor in this kind of thing.

  • @chrissamm Your life must be boring then

  • @Fucklesticks not really, I don't find Martha's actual interpretation of this piece boring. Do you?

  • @chrissamm If you don't get a laugh out of a "shreds" video then there's something wrong with you < that's what i'm trying to say.

  • @Fucklesticks I heard you. I didn't know what a "shred" video was until I saw yours. I thought "Martha shreds Tchaikovsky" just meant she plays him very well.

  • @Fucklesticks What bothers me is that this kind of thing passes for humour. You can say all day I don't have a "sense of humour" but I find "shred" videos disrespectful to the artists and their hard work. Besides, from some of the comments I see there are people that don't realize Martha Argerich doesn't actually plays Tchaikovsky this way. It gives raise to people who say "those famous people don't really know that well either".

  • @chrissamm I think most artists would actually enjoy these videos, Korn and John Petrucci from Dream Theater really liked YT parodies of them, and i think most artists would react the same way unless they're full of themselves. And honestly the people who didn't realize it's fake, are either trolls or really, REALLY stupid.

  • @Fucklesticks Any good "parody" has a grain of truth, which makes the *humour* of the parody. Martha Argerich hardly plays any wrong notes, certainly not any I can hear. Hence a video that shows Martha Argerich playing all notes wrong is not a "parody", the word "parody" flatters the whole idea of a "shred" video. I don't know if Martha likes this kind of video, but if she didn't I wouldn't call her "full of herself".

  • @chrissamm Well who cares what she thinks anyway, this IS funny. She had her chance to take the video down, it's still here. Don't like it? Dislike it and move on.

  • @Fucklesticks Besides the fact that she probably doesn't spend time on YT to look for stupid videos, what makes you say she has the chance to take the video down? Do I have the chance to take it down, or did you give her special privileges?

  • @Fucklesticks This example shows that a lot of what passes for "humour" these days is really sick and shows just how sick we as a culture have become.

  • This is right up there with the Creed shredd. Well Done. Like.

  • oooh I see lol.

  • Wtf is this real?!!?!?

  • She is still the best world piano player so....its a joke ...she can play wrong as much as she want..

  • Ouch!!! It just shredded my eardrums! :-))

  • ce trucage est honteux et ridicule !

  • Ever watched Victor Borge massacre this very same piece of music ? Its hilarious, He plays it with the late Leonid Hambro

  • HYSTERICAL HYSTERICAL HYSTERICAL HYSTERICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best enjoyed drunk or high.

  • HAhahaha Dude, you're a champion, don't worry about the negative comments. This is my kind of comedy!!!

  • LMAO. I am sure she would laugh at this.

  • This is HILARIOUS XD

I bet if Martha saw this she would burst out laughing (or crying, I don't know) :)

  • hahahaha love this!!!!

  • for a moment I was in total shock! Then I understood its a farse and laughed till the end

  • This is hilarious

  • hahahahaaa funny! Had me going there for a sec.

  • What is this stupidity?

  • What a fake!

  • At last, the corrected version of Tchaikovsky's first piano concerto. Now I understand what the composer really meant. But revealing this to mankind was a task only a genius like Martha Argerich could fulfil to this degree of utter brilliance and logical concision. Brava! All the more it is a pity the recording is incomplete.

  • Comments such as "Did people pay money to hear this??" do make me laugh... people really need to learn how the internet works...

  • @thelizzyfrom461 How about this then: 'Back to music shool, Martha !!!!'

  • Classical music nowadays isn't what it once used to be !

  • @fazzol

    You say it - hahaha

  • Did people pay money to hear this ??

  • All of you idiots that are shouting "this isn't real, it's overdubbed" - come on she was JUST PRACTISING!

  • This is a hoot. It reminds me of the singer(?) Florence Foster Jenkins. If you haven't heard of her, find some of her recordings. The difference, of course, is that Jenkins actually performed the way you hear her, and believed that she was great! Incredible.

  • Genial!!!!

  • Obviously fake, original and complete video is this .- watch?v=VfkSFb3ABUk

  • hahaha!! what a CLEVER upload you made ORANGESODAKING!! of course that's not martha ...but I recall my own days long ago of playing these works with friends as conservatory students and we'd purposely do exactly that kind of kidding around ! just our way of giving ourselves a "break" from all the hours of practicing "properly"...hehehe....Thanks for ":the memories" (for me) ...haha!

  • Obiously this wasn't her. It was DUBBED!!!

  • Argerich never plays the piano this! that aren´t Martha! that are a estupid!

  • Wouldn't it have been fun to be there when Horowitz scared everyone to death in the early 20s?

  • Oh...hahahahahahaha.

Similar to the Jonathan and darlene Edwards records of long ago.

    (PaulWeston/Jo Stafford)

Thanks, I REALLY needed a belly laugh!

  • @IMAWriterRobJ ME TOO!!! it brings me back old fun memories of my old conservatory days and my friends and I would "challenge" each other who could do the most outrageous versions ...it's actually quite DIFFICULT to do it played at the actual tempo because you do have to keep thinking very quickly but avoid making the "mistakes" sound too predictable....haha!! doing these with Mozart and Bach sonatas , concertos and fugues is really fun!

  • @tedly10027 It's fun to shred everything to pieces every once in a while. We need to de-stress ourselves and laugh at ourselves sometimes.

  • saca este video por favor ,!!!

  • this is funnier with guitarist LOL

  • Straight from the DVD "Helen Keller Plays the Classics"

  • Liberace does this about... maybe 50 times better. AND, with his eyes shut

  • i cannot stop watching this, it is so freakin' hilarious.

  • is this a joke?

  • She is taking the piss out of this !!!!! Same as Victor Borge does !!! I`ve seen her live in concert playing the concerto and its nothing like this. She is just having a bit of fun

  • Something very wrong with this video. This can't be martha's performence.

  • this is HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • awesome :-)

  • !?!?!

  • this is HILARIOUS!

  • What is this trash?

  • this gave me a massive headache... but it's also really funny

  • lol hahahaha xD

  • 0:47 !!!!!!

  • I like the way she puts the "schmaltz" into this gorgeous piece. I can already play violin like this - and now I will take up piano I now have a goal in life!

  • haha!!! I love this! You are so funny! I love how it sounds like you play very well yet you mess up for the very fun of it! This has made my day. Now I'm going to go practice lol

  • brilliant

    LMFAO

  • Ha ha. Genius. How did you do that?

  • This sounds like me attempting it fast.

  • hahaha amazing....sublime.....brings tears to my eyes

  • LMFAO!

  • @OrangeSodaKing

she's THE best, not one of the "very" best.

  • BULLSHIT

  • Comment removed

  • OSK, you nasty boy. ;)

  • 0:49 LMFO

  • ahahah very nice video =) W martha especially in 0:49 ahahahahah!!!

  • hilarious

  • Everytime I hear the actual one, I expect to hear this now. What have you done?!

  • @iamshopan

    it's called disrespect. f.y.i.

  • @yohbyo Huh? It's called humour. Argerich is one of my most favourite pianists, I'm not disrespecting her.

  • @iamshopan

-.- can't believe you found a recording of somebody who plays like shit...lol...i kinda laughed too actually =p

  • esta genial que risa!

  • flagged this video as inappropriate.

  • @yohbyo You must be very sensitive.

  • ahaha I cant believe how funny this is

  • Que mentira.

  • @Spiritakis Some people just really have no sense of humor.

  • ahahahhahahahahahahahah

  • HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

  • Sooo funny! ì love it! In 1:26 she did more mistakes than she ever did in her whole life!

  • @Spiritakis this video is very well edited--if I didn't know it was an edited video I would have thought that Martha really did screw it up. It was very convincing

    Well done OrangeSodaKing

  • aouehaouehauehauehuaheuahueha

  • Haha, é a martha mesmo??

    kkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Take this piece of S*&% video DOWN!!!!

  • @Spiritakis have you heard of the word Gullible?

  • @ulyssesjj

Yes, I have. Have you heard the word Perverse?

  • @Spiritakis hahahah, you owned that guy :P

  • @OrangeSodaKing She IS the best pianist ever:-)

  • I dont know who you are.... But your're AMAZING!!!!! LOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!

  • @OrangeSodaKing Brilliant I must say!!!! It would be so nice if you could do Olga Kern. She has a tendency to be ultra serious and stiff. (I should know, I've played with her.)

  • LMAO! hahaha.

  • A realmusic maestro like Martha Argerich does not deserve a joke like this. This may be misleading for those who don't know her. Kindly remove.

  • @jjg7

    Ass.

  • Love Argerich, but I love this too!

  • @bourdour christ, im glad someone finally has a sense of humor here. martha is amazing, absolutely amazing, cant say the same about this concerto though, but to each their own i guess

  • @rigerouspokemon Chill, rig, jeez! Haha. :)

  • Hmm...this sounds like what I would sound like If I played the Tchaikovsky concerto.

  • @chobeethaninov It actually is what I sound like when I play it, as you can tell. ;)

  • May be I didn't explain myself at all...

I Know what a "shredding" video is...

That I cannot understand is what people do it for...

I cannot find humour here, and cannot understand the joke...I'm sorry...

I think that people could aproach the modern technology to make their own videos, being creative and originals, instead utilize videos already done.-

I'm sorry if I couldn't explain my ideas at all...

And thank's a lot for answer...

  • @Thormagnus09 I did it just because I wanted to hear splatted opening chords with the orchestra, and I just picked Argerich because she is famous for playing this concerto (very well, I may add). And it's more convincing with a video, not just hearing the audio. I think the Prokofiev video is better than this one, anyway.

  • @Thormagnus09

Um what? Comedy, entertainment, art etc., is very often based on something else. Comedic film reviews. PARODIES. Imitations, actor impersonations. Takes on political issues. VOICE-OVERS. Piano arrangements. You have material to WORK WITH, and you DO SOMETHING OUT OF IT. Simple as that.

The "humor" here comes from the obvious juxtapposition of an excellent musician's well-known performance with a really shitty, drunk sounding sound that parodies the original or looks completely...

  • @Thormagnus09

... matched with what you see in the video while being COMPLETELY off. For example, the camera turns away, and suddenly utter nonsense is played. Back to the hands, and it resembles the original piece somehow.

The rest is a matter of execution and details. Why is this video funny? Why do people find John Cleese's face expressions funny?

  • dumb.

  • Is this supposed to be funny? It's MARTHA!!

  • @whorace3 Watch the other shredding videos on YouTube and you will get it.

  • I would like to know the reasons to do such a stupid thing like this...

    ¿Do you envy Martha Argerich?

May she like your "job"...Her sense of humour is astonishing imprevisible, but I don't think that she would find any diversion watching these video...

    Sorrowful!!!

  • @Thormagnus09 sorrowful? envy? read his video description. do you not know what a "shredding" video is? there are many, many of them on youtube and its sorrowful that you have missed the obvious running joke before posting a comment. he's just finding humor with what it sounds like to plunk wrong notes in the tchaikovsky concerto, kind of like the zimerman shredding chopin ballade 4, brendel shredding beethoven sonata, hamelin shredding alkan's le festin d'esope and concerto for solo piano, etc.

  • is that the real soundtrack or just a fun mixture you made up ?

  • @lola020202 It's definitely not the real sound track... There are many videos on YouTube of very gifted musicians overdubbed by purposeful bad playing, and they are called "shredding" videos (Krystian Zimerman, Alfred Brendel, Marc-Andre Hamelin, Yo Yo Ma, John Williams, and plenty of guitarists, rock bands, and almost any other instrument you can think of) and they're just made in good fun. Watch the one of Argerich "shredding" Prokofiev... It's REALLY funny! :)

  • Epic Fail....lol

  • It was a dress rehearsal. No audience.
