@ragemanchoo82 He was actually 23 years old here - born on Christmas Day, 1907. Still just a pup, though. ;)
Now, if you wanna hear a YOUNG pup, check out my upload of a 'Swing Time' label 78 by Ray Charles called "Th' Ego Song" - recorded Friday, May 26, 1950, Ray was just 19 years of age on that beauty, his first solo record. :)
This is tune is veeery nice. Al that tunes with minor keys give lots of possibilities. And with these members playing.....stratospherical!!!! I enjoyed a lot with this one, Mark.
GREAT post again, man - I'm tellin' ya, yours is the best "radio station" on the net :-)
And I've heard you mention before about having donated records earlier to a charity auction, but had no idea it was for saving someone's LIFE - that's just freakin' AWESOME, man! Wish I could say that my records ever went to so noble a cause...
She was battling cervical cancer & this record part of a stack of 78's I gave that went for just under $900 in an auction to help raise funds for her treatment. By the end of 2001, she was (and is) cancer free.
I've actually donated my records 4 times to charity auctions like this.
Just bought this disc on a re-issue Brunswick label:-) I don't mind that it is not the original, though. My dad gave me a cassette of Cab Calloway that introduced me to this era of music. Finally got my wish of having this on 78rpm. The other disc was "Some Of These Days." :-)
@SwingMan1937 My goodness i just realized have you even seen the record player that uses a laser before??? I soooo want one. I will buy one for sure in the next coming years.
@SwingMan1937 They do.. its crazy expensive though... It will take me a few years to save up to get one, but the LP to transfer to CD will be much better.. etc and so on, Been an audiophile for years. I left my LPs in Rhode Island just to make sure they stayed safe before coming to NY state.
@SlimeTron5000 lol I am saving up. that is very expensive... I have no idea why they do that like that, you'd think there would be other companies doing the same thing.
Love it . One of the best song ever written and this is my favorite verson.

@newstart2009 I did just once back in the late 1980's - used a laser in place of a needle/stylus I believe, thus virtually eliminating record wear.

@SwingMan1937 They still have them.. not only does it do away with wear and tear, but it takes the noise away.. I was amazed at the demo...

@newstart2009 If they made 'em for 78rpm play, I'd be on it like flies on..... ;)
