Like others, I prefer the "Drakensberg" rendering. But this was sweet, and was different. It has encouraged me to look them up on the web. It was sung by Zulus in Natal before they travelled on the trains for their stints in the Gold Mines. The miners tried to get more local tribes but the work was hard so they had to move further afield and ship in the Zulus.

Why South African whites are singing Shosholosa is beyond me. It's a black African song. I'll stick with the Drankensberg Boy's Choir -- all the beautiful races together!

Actually, VOENA is made up of children representing over 35 races and cultures, and diversity is what they're all about, so I agree that it's a beautiful song for all cultures and ethnicities to share. Peace is open to everyone!

This arrangement was created by the world renowned Drakensberg Boys Choir of South Africa. It was featured on their 2006 native songs DVD. They've been performing it for many years. The DVD was recorded a week after recording a Carmina Burana DVD - the DBC is far better known for its classical works. Songs from both DVDs are found on You Tube. More than 100 boys between 8 and 15 years old live at the choir school in the Drakensberg Mountains (Dragon Mountains).

The song is South African - obviously! - but the choir is a multi-ethnic choir from California. They sing in over 20 different languages!
