@80sRockIsKing Yeah I wanna agree with you, but in some video interview Sting is half-laughing about a couple telling him that they got married to this song 'cause even Sting himself thinks it's kinda... "obsessive," for lack of a better term. Sry I can't remember in which video it's in.

@80sRockIsKing It seems Sting himself would've disagreed, as he's repeatedly stated that it reflects some of the unfortunate outcomes of losing someone (he got divorced not long before he wrote it), such as jealousy and obsession.. It COULD be interpreted the way you see it (except the lyrics do state that he's actually BEEN with the person he sings about in the past), but that isn't how Sting sees it.

Have you heard the song "Chaos" by Mutemath? Being a fan of The Police, you just might like that track too.
