these offensive linemen have awful technique. no kickstep, no punch, they stand straight up and lunge, they all open up their hips and give the defensive linemen a straight shot at the qb. ill be shocked if any get division 1 offers.
I play left tackle, and when i know the d-linemen is that much quicker than me off the ball, what i try to do is post or "back-peddal" a little bit faster than normal so i can get framed up and intercept him at the point of impact to turn his body away from the target. As you can see a lot of these linemen just over-commit at the beggining of the drill, or get beat around the corner.
i play left tackle o-line and when we do this pass setting drill, and i know the d-linemen is this that much faster than me, what i try to do is back-peddal twice as fast, so then at the point of impact i'm framed up and can turn his body away from the target.
its so much easier being a d line i swear, all you have to do is lean forward and give more pressure, o line you have so much technique and stepping.
(im exaggerating on the d line part but thats just summing it all up)

Corey May "lunges" to much towards the d-lineman at the start of the drill. He needs to get his back strait and deliver a punching blow...
