A couple of things to note:
- Humans are not made of corn. This phenomenon is almost exclusively an American phenomenon, since other countries do not have corn subsidies and incentives for corn derivatives like High Fructose Corn Syrup. (This is beginning to change, though, as the US exports more corn)
- While the corn they were growing--field corn--had little taste, corn on the cob that you find in grocery stores--sweet corn--tastes like you'd expect.
