What an hilarious video. Lincoln and MLK were Republicans simply because the GOP of their times was not the same party which is today's GOP (ditto regarding the Democratic Party). After the DEMOCRATIC LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act racist voters in the south and their elected officials defected en masse to the Republicans, and that why the Republicans always win those states in presidential elections. Jesse Helms is a good example of a southern racist who switched from Democrats to Republicans.

You do some amazing research for your other videos, please research the history with the south better. google "usa vs csa constitution" also the northern non-slave states laws were MUCH more draconian when it came to dealing with runaway slaves and generally letting them integrate.

Robert Byrd was extremely sorrowful and regretful for joining the KKK.

He is not representative of the Democrats, and he was more conservative back then.

He was also from the South.

I remember Senator Byrd for being the big spender in Congress. As a young voter in the '70s, I became convinced that we need term limits for all of Congress. If nothing else, we needed it just for him. Even in upheval years (like this one) we usually reelect 90% or more of these guys when they are in safe states or districts for their party. We need a way to inject some new thinkers into our political process and I think it has to be at least making Senators sit out a term after 2 terms.
