God bless you brother, but you don't sound very 'independent' in your comments. Sound pretty far left conspiratorial, right wing hating finatic. Saying they had no basis for wire tapping is rediculous. Virtually all Americans were outraged at Abu Graib - naturally, but the outgoing admin protected us and that's what Americans want. There were no abuses of wire taps - if so, name them. Pummeled? More voted for McCain than for Clinton. Nearly half the country. Facts please.
My sentiments would be Leftist if they were on account of Bush and Co. being Republican. I do not use this reasoning.
I never said there was no basis for wiretapping. I am opposed to the kind of wiretapping that was done without regard to Constitutional rights. Name them? There are plenty. There is a book entitled "War on the Bill of RIghts" that documents many of them. My professor's friend is also one.
Pummeled. I was quoting Bush. Percentages mean little. Seats mean the world.
Yes, Americans want protection. But every defense report recently put out admits that we are in a very vulnerable position, and that a major attack is not unlikely. Jihadists have been emboldened. Their numbers in Afghanistan and Pakistan are on the rise. Our border, ports, and immigration laws have been largely overlooked and ignored.
Their not being an attack since 9-11 is no more a defense of Bush policies as their not being another WTC attack during Clinton's stay would defend his policies
1. I am being very critical of Obama. Most far left conspiracy theorists wouldn't advance such criticisms.
2. All I am calling for is an investigation. I simply want people to be held accountable for wrongdoing. If there was none, then nobody gets prosecuted. If there were, they will be brought to justice. This is law and order, not partisan politics.
3. You wrongfully presume that the Right is monolithic in their backing of Bush's war and the conduct of our soldiers.

Paleo,

Lastly, two points:
