Darwin believed the different races were at different levels of evolution. Savage races would be replaced by superior races. Only the stronger races survive. Darwinism makes racism scientifically acceptable.
Eugenics is something that humans have been practicing for thousands of years, it just didn't have a name until the 19th century.
Lots of people are unaware of the fact that Jews have been practitioners of eugenics for thousands of years, its one of the reasons Ashkenazi Jews have the highest average IQ of any people on earth.
Actually a number of the modern white supremicists I've seen use the bible more often than Darwin. With the whole "mud people" arguement which is from the bible's first mention of God creating man and then doing it again with Adam and Eve (who they claim were white.) They also say that the Jews are the children of Eve and Satan since she "swallowed his seed" or something.
after charles darwin published the origin of the species...this gave way to a whole science about the differences between races. regardless of your cursing and ranting while unintentional charles darwin had a part to play with modern racism
charles darwin was not a racist but he definitly opened the door for scientist to mix up race and species with his theory...look into it...there was whole science on differences of race that occured during the enlightenment after the orgin of species was published.
Glenn Beck is a very scary man, and a danger to this nation, where we have so many people willing to listen and follow him. Very scary that so many people eat his shit up like candy and fill their lazy brains with so much bullshit. Beck is regrettably a major voice in today's anti-science anti-evolution anti-climate change anti-intellectual movement, aligned with religious young earth creationist nonsense. Shame that in our country the only two people gathering big crowds are Beck and Palin.
why don't you read Charles Darwin's autobiography before defending Darwin. It shows how much you know. Darwin was a Freemason, like his Grandfather. His grandfather was a 33rd degree Mason, and Freemasons supported and propagated this lame Theory with no proof. Darwin was a racist pig. Read Karl Marx, and most all communist leaders, Nazi's etc...... They all espouse Darwinsim. Your education level is lame. You haven't researched crap.
first off, evolution is not racist at all, darwin was anti-racist as could be, especially for his time but even if it was racist, it is still a fact, full of millions of observed FACTS, E=MC2 was used to make atom bombs but eistein is not responsible and glen beck is a fucking mormon, they beleive that black people can only get into heaven as a slave, not even joking
It is not that I am uncomfortable with the F-Bomb It just reduces the validity of what you are trying to say which is a good point Darwin was NOT a racist the fact that evolution was later used to justify Eugenics dose not in any was tarnish Darwin's legacy in the slightest
Just to finish up, it isn't G.Beck who got this wrong, but you. You were refering to C.Darwin's views on the subject. In fact, that isn't were you should look to learn where the ideas were taken after C.Darwin. You should look to how those ideas were twisted.
I hope this helps you realize your error. Thank you for your time.
I see some Dyslexia in your rant (no harm, nothing to be ashamed of).
It looks like you claim G.Beck said C.Darwin was racist and came to his conclusions because of those beliefs. But the visoe you showed didn't show that, it showed the other way around: C.Darwin theorized evolution & natural selection. The formed the basis of the theory of social darwinism and "survival of the fittest". SOTF was the basis for Eugenics. The use of evolution (calling a person less evolved) also played a part.
@bsabruzzo Darwin did not theorize evolution and natural selection, he just translated it for the layman. But that's not important.
The people who use evolution, or simply see evolution as proof of their racist beliefs are just racist people. Darwin did not make them that way.
How bout this - Some southerners lynched black men in the south for flirting with white women and said they did it because of exodus 22:19. They were racist. Did the bible plant the seed?
@notaperson2012 And, yes, C.Darwin took the ideas of Jean-Baptiste Lamarck's theories of evolution as a spontaneous change based on geography and need and he added the natural selection part, where it happens through selective mating and offspring. In his Red Notebook (1837), C.Darwin worked out his theory. His cousin, Sir Francis Galton, took those ideas and formed the "science" of eugenics.
It's up to interpretation which came first, Galton's chicken or Darwin's egg.
@bsabruzzo I don't know where you get your info from dude. Lamarck's theory of acquired characteristics was never given a lot of respect from Darwin. What Darwin did for evolution was similar to what Columbus did for the round Earth.
Inheritance of traits was a known concept then. Any animal breeder understood that. Do you think Darwin was the only person who figured out that nature is competitive? He found empirical evidence for evolution
@notaperson2012 Yes, animal husbandry was understood for centuries. The theory that a one species becomes another or changes on it own was not a formalized theiry until Lamarck. No Darwin didn't think much of Lamarck's theory until he moved to London in 1837 and he and John Gould had a number of discussions about the Galápagos finches.
It doesn't matter if Darwin gave a flying hoot to Lamarck's work, he heard about it from his time at the Plinian Society and from his granfather's writings.
@notaperson2012 My point is that one idea, like animal and plant life, evolves. What people "knew" wasn't the theory. The concept Lamarck set as a comprehensive concept became, through many steps, Darwin's Finches and natural selection. That theory became, through an evolution of theory, the basis for Galton's Eugenics.
As for where one draws the line at who's idea was the conceptual foundation for racism, I put it ad Neanderthal vs Homo Sapien, but moder theory is pinned on Darwin.
@bsabruzzo Ideas don't make people racist. The conceptual foundation for racism comes from one person's need to believe they are better and entitled to more than others. Before Darwin, it was manifest destiny. Racist people will interpret the ideas they are given to justify what they need to believe. God or science, it doesn't matter. To call Darwin the father of modern racism is to out yourself as someone who cannot interpret his theories any other way. Or, an obvious non secular motive.
@notaperson2012 "Ideas don't make people racist" I agree. Just as calling Dr. Tiller a "baby killer" didn't make anybody at FoxNews guilty for the nut-job who killed Tiller, Darwin didn't make anybody a racist. But to think that G.Beck was saying that means you "out yourself as someone who cannot interpret his theories any other way".
A person is not responsible for the actions of their father, nor the father the actions of their son. A hope you grasp that concept.
@bsabruzzo I never said that Beck meant that. I am saying that. I am saying that about Beck
As far as Dr Tiller, I don't know if Fox News should bear any responsibility but there is a big difference between a book written to describe a scientific theory and the manipulative methods onFox . Fox doesn't look or read like the news. BBC, CNN ABC Al-jazerra, NBC give news. Fox is like Xinhua, commentary, patriotism and the repeated assurance that everyone else is lying but them.
@notaperson2012 "I never said that Beck meant that. I am saying that. I am saying that about Beck" Too many pronouns and nothing to connect them to. Please elaborate what you are saying.
Are you saying
1) Beck thinks others took C.Darwin's ideas and used them for evil?
@bsabruzzo Beck understands how a person can intepret the theory of evolution as proof of racist beliefs. I believe that. Based on other things he has said. I believe he can speak to those people because he is like minded.
@notaperson2012 " I believe he can speak to those people because he is like minded." So, to infer, you believe that only a person who thinks a certain way can understand and explain that way to others. Hence, you can't understand or explain anything about G.Beck unless you though like him.
There is a flaw in your logic. But you knew that already.
I suppose now I have to believe, based on your comments, that teachers can never teach their students, unless they are already taught.
@notaperson2012 This is a bit confusing as I have been taught by people from multiple view points and beliefs and learned from them. Does this mean they believed in Hitler's meathods (oh no, high school teachers ARE Nazis)? Does this mean that my college classes in comparative philosophy was taught by a schizophrenic ?
@notaperson2012 As for "manifest festiny", it sounds like you don't like it. Good because it is a coruption of devine providence (or as the secular community would say: greed is the coruption of luck). You agree with G.Beck about manifest destiny, how about that?
In fact, it might come as a surprize that you seem to agree with Beck about a number of things.
@bsabruzzo I am sure I agree with what he may have said on the subject at one time. I imagine we both think slavery was immoral.
Thing about Beck is he has no integrity. His "beliefs" change, he contradicts himself. Just look at the 180 he did on the 9/11 mosque.
Watch, now that a significant chunk of newscorp is owned by an uber rich muslim we will see if Beck changes yet again. He will probably have to leave fox if he doesn't .
@notaperson2012 "Just look at the 180 he [Beck] did on the 9/11 mosque." Let's see, he did and still does believe that freedom of religion and property are constitutionally firm, thus he is okay that the Cardoba Center/Park One/GZMosque is okay to build. He also says that, like Justice Keegan, that a person with terrorist ties and terrorist funding should be fully investigated and brought to justice.
Nothing has changed here. No contradiction. Do you have an example where Beck did?
@bsabruzzo Other than the fact that he calls it a victory mosque and attempts to link its contributors to terrorists? Kind of like the way that Fox linked Obama to Ayres. He is now saying that we are just too tolerant. He does not appear to have an issue with the way that people simply link all muslims together with the ones who crashed into the twin towers. The muslims who want to build Cordoba consider it an affront to what those muslims stand for.
@notaperson2012 Yes, other that naming the community center after the site where the Moors destroyed a church to build a mosque, the fact that Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf will not denouce the terrorist group Hammas, Rauf has received the money from an undisclosed source in the Middle East (something Pres. Obama said he'd crack down on) and that there not only is another mosque nearby but that a church has not been approved for years and Park51 was fasttracked.
@notaperson2012 But Beck has had a problem with "the way that people simply link all muslims together with the ones who crashed into the twin towers". In fact Media Matters (those who hate Beck) dug up a video that shows Beck in the past siding with moderate muslims and just a week or so ago Beck said he has no problem is muslims like Raheel Raza built mosques anywhere.
But, he said, if the gov't is serious about checking for bad actors (as they said they were), the can't avoid looking.
@bsabruzzo Exactly my point, He says one thing and then something else. Those moderate views have changed. Defend him all you want he is on television and radio too much for you to cover up all of his hatred
@notaperson2012 But Beck hasn't said anything that contradicts his previous statements... not without sitting and reseaching and learning (I though that's what one does when one reflects on the turth and discovers new facts?).
Maybe if you could show where Beck has " one thing and then something else" without gaining new facts you could enlighten me.
@notaperson2012 Going over the being fine with a mosque (not changed) and moderate muslims (not changed), against terrorists (not changed) and coruption (not changed), I am still trying to find the place where you say he changed. He is consistant on the Constitutional points (hey, like Pres. Obama) and consistant with the national security points (hey like Pres. Obama said he was...).
Beck has even said he understands about people hating a religion building a new church (CLDS).
@bsabruzzo No. You believe in Beck. The Mosque stuff is pretty blatant and its there. He changes a lot and his defense up to now has been that he is a comedian. He is a liar. He obviously offers you some hope for a better tomorrow. Hope for the future you are entitled too? Not so much for non white people though.
I know about the CLDS. I think that conversion of his shows his true colors. Have a nice life BS
@notaperson2012 Actually I get my inspiration from those people who don't hide behind right/left politics and those who actually inspire for equality. I wish there were more people who didn't think that the US Constitution and the basic principles of equality for all was racist. I an not entitled to a thing except what the "god of nature" has given all people, white. black, brown, yellow, red, blue, green and so on.
Oh and Beck hasn't changed in his position except when facts are presented.
@notaperson2012 Still, you say it is "blatant" but can't point to a specific thing, so I can only guess you over generalized to make your point. That's the same reaction I get from everybody who love to merely attack.: Ignore, dismiss, insult, attack, avoid.
I will take your well wishes as sincere, as I have no actual proof of any other motive. You have a good life too Notap.
@bsabruzzo Blatant was a reference to the 180 regarding the 911 mosque. And calling it a victory mosque and attempting to conspiracy theorize the contributors and terrorists is an about face from his earlier comments, the one that media matters pointed out.
/blog/201008230004
Thanks for pointing out media matters to me. I didn't really pay aattention to them before. Their site has a lot of good info. I have a lot of reading to do.
@notaperson2012 You're welcome. Sending people to places where they feel comfortable without having to research of think about things is what I'm about.
No, wait, sending people who don't want to think about facts and will never actually look at reality should find friends.
And 180 (degrees) means turning to the opposite direction. As the being for freedom of religion, but about national defence is not contradictory and when facts invove real questions, nothing contradictory about that.
@bsabruzzo Whatever dude. Beck is a tool that newscorp uses. He is offensive to most people who are not white. That should tell you something, unless of course that perspective is simply not important in your mind.
As far as 180 degrees, what did you think I meant? I said he was contradicting himself, as in going in the other direction, as in 180 degrees, as in "about face". Do you desire condescension so much that you lie to yourself to get a jab in?
@notaperson2012 And, if you like Media Matters, George Soros has other front companies you should look up. But not knowing about that means you haven't been paying attention, as Beck, Clinton and MSNBC have been using them for at least a decade.
You should check out the Young Turks, they'll be right up your alley.
@bsabruzzo I prefer to read the news. AV based news tends to infuse ideas into its message. Words are much more transparent when they contain ulterior motives or inflammatory messages. Young Turks have an agenda. From what I can tell though, its not about claiming that the people in this country need to "Turn back to God" or "restore Honor" or any of the semi fascist ideas Glenn Beck puts out.
Yes, fascist. Beck uses the methods of past fascist regimes to get ratings. And it works!
...the civilized races of man will almost certainly exterminate, and replace, the savage races throughout the world...the break between man and his nearest allies will then be wider, for it will intervene between man in a more civilized state, as we may hope, even than the Caucasian, and some ape as low as a baboon, instead of as now between the Negro or Australian and the gorilla." -Charles Darwin, 'The Descent of Man and Selection in Relation to Sex.
Hey jimbo nothing intelligent to say? so you drop a bunch of F-Bombs dose that make you cool? whould you like to heir a better argument that doesn't sound like some gansta getto/trailerpark thug listen to this search you tube for Cameron and Comfort dissing Darwin and listen to how the grownups explain their arguments
@jwarphen The grown ups don't let me hang out with them.
If the "F" bomb makes you feel uncomfortable I suggest you avoid watching the majority of my videos, PG-13 to R rated movies, HBO, Showtime or any other pay channel and many many websites and destinations found throughout the internet.
I do have a few videos responding directly to Priests or other men of the cloth that are curse word free, if you would like, I will send you the links to some of them.
Hey jimbo nothing intelligent to say? so you drop a bunch of F-Bombs dose that make you cool? whould you like to heir a better argument that doesn't sound like some gansta getto/trailerpark thug listen to this
jimbo, I do wonder why you get all worked up when we both know that Beck is too damn ignorant to know better. I really don't think it would be unreasonable to argue that Glenn does not understand half the words he uses. He's not a bright guy, you know that. Chilll yo!
Glenn Beck is a vile racist and when he says things like "Darwin, the father of modern racism" he is just outing himself as a racist. He obviously knows how evolution works and his mind has reached the only conclusion it can, that his race is superior and that is what Charles Darwin meant. I think that is how a lot or racists see the world.
If a racist reads the bible they interpret it to mean that their race is superior and that is what God meant.
@notaperson2012 So G.Beck disagrees with C.Darwin and to you that shows that he is agreeing?
Something has been bothering me throughout this entire debate about G.Beck...
How is "treat everybody equally" and "love your brother" racist? How is "judge people on the content of their character and not the color of their skin" racist? How is " equal justice and equal rights" racist?
@bsabruzzo Not what I am saying at all. Charles Darwin was as racist as anyone else in his day. Beck is referring to the current eugenics argument from the mouths an neo-nazis. When they state blacks are less evolved than whites. Nonsense like that. That makes no sense to anyone who understands just the basics evolution.
None of that stuff is racist. What is racist is the belief that one race is better than another, that one is entitled to more. This does not describe Beck?
@notaperson2012 "that one race is better than another, that one is entitled to more. This does not describe Beck?" Based on what G.Beck has said and done, no it doesn't describe him at all. Quite the opposite.
What I typed in my comment is what he says and shows to believe. That is the antithesis to what you said.
@chattiestspike2 some things need to be repeated. someone should make this point that evolution and abiogenesis are not the same. i feel that point hasnt been made in the last few seconds and the creationists are starting to forget again XD.
public and the scientific communities have associated eugenics with Nazi abuses, such as enforced racial hygiene, human experimentation, and the extermination of "undesired" population groups. However, developments in genetic, genomic, and reproductive technologies at the end of the 20th century have raised many new questions and concerns about the meaning of eugenics and its ethical and moral status in the modern era.
Eugenics is the study and practice of selective breeding applied to humans, with the aim of improving the species. In a historical and broader sense, eugenics can also be a study of "improving human genetic qualities." Eugenics was widely popular in the early decades of the 20th century, but has fallen into disrepute after having become associated with Nazi Germany. Since the postwar period, both the
Eugenics is the study and practice of selective breeding applied to humans, with the aim of improving the species. or "manually" selection genetic traits to evolve humanity the way thy wanted and when you curs all the time it makes you sound like ignorant trailer trash who doesn't know what he is talking about even if you do know what your talking about
2 NEphi 5:22 And thus saith the Lord God: I will cause that they shall be loathsome unto thy people, save they shall repent of their iniquities. 23 And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed; for they shall be cursed even with the same cursing. And the Lord spake it, and it was done. 24 And because of their cursing which was upon them they did become an idle people, full of mischief and subtlety, and did seek in the wilderness for beasts of prey.
2 NEphi 5:21 And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.
History shows that religion is the basis of Racism. In Beck's own Book of Mormon the Sainted white Levites are murdered by the Satan worshiping Lamanites! And Beck talks about racism?
Eugenics actually existed back in ancient Greece, but it wasn't known by that pseudo-scientific term and attributed inherited traits from the gods and not genes. They also noticed differences passed down through the generations between patricians and slaves. Christianity then came along and said everyone is an equal brother of God. Then, Christianity exacerbated elitism by promoting a "divine" order, which motivated slavery and serfdom.
You think only half his audience will eat it right up? You're either incredibly optimistic, or assume half his audience are watching him for the laughs. Did you read the latest pew poll where 1 in 5 Americans believe Obama is a Muslim? 37% of republicans believe he's a Muslim, and only 31% believe he's a Christian, the rest are unsure. Among those who believe he's a Muslim 60% said they found out he was a Muslim through the News media. I wonder what news media that might be? :p
Have "they" already started deporting "uncomfortable, genetically and mentally inferior individuals" over to Alaskan camps? Not yet? Maybe tomorrow? Or the day after tomorrow? (Was it Back or his platonic love, Jones?)
Glenn Beck says Darwin "sows the seeds of modern racism." Jebus Krist, I can't stand Beck, basically his Mormon ass just wants to demonize Darwin because evolution scares the hell out of Christers. Even if it were proven that Darwin was racist (given the time he lived in not huge news), this would in no way lessen the incredible contributions he has to our understanding of our origins. Beck disgusts me.
@Taylor255 Running around repeating things you've learned from idiots is not very impressive.
Certainly Darwin looked into the idea that some folks of certain skin color were more or less evolved than others, however if you did some reading you would discover that Darwin concluded that this was not the case.
@OGjimbo Please don't talk down to me sir. I heard this in interviews with Richard Dawkins where the interviewer is trying to discredit evolution and Dawkins confirms it.
I'm certainly not agreeing with Beck, that would be stupid.
@Taylor255 Well, your statement was misleading and in the over all sense a falsehood. As I said, Darwin wondered if one race of man was more or less evolved than any other and it would be quite normal for a person in that time frame after having made one of the most ground breaking scientific discoveries in the history of mankind to wonder such a thing.
It is my understanding that in the end, Darwin concluded that all the races of men were equally evolved.
I remember on Fox News how they tried to "prove" Obama was dumb because his speech had a 10th grade reading level. Obviously, someone who made Law Review at Harvard Law could easily reach roughly a 0 to a -5 on the Flesch-Kinkaid reading ease (higher numbers are easier to read.)
Too Bad that Darwin did not have any golden plates to translate,or he would had found as the book of Mormon states that black skin is a curse from god, (2 Nephi verse 21.) I wounder if Glen Beck will do a show on Brigham Young the very ideal of spiritual equality. What did the Mormon church have revealed to them in the early June 1978? Confirmation of their lack of discriminatory policies? And what was it about the evil Lamanites that was visible different from the righteous Nephites?
Glenn Beck: Father of Modern Day Fear-Mongering bullshit...
To use a similarly mangled string of claims that Beck would consider logic: Noah is the father of "original" racism by issuing the Curse of Ham. Beck is a right-wing Christian that thinks the Bible is true. Therefore, Beck is racist!
Not to mention following strict evolutionary logic (e.g: genetics) counters claims about blacks being a different species, so to claim that Evolution leads to racism is a long-refuted chunk of bullshit.
If I may interject something here. Whether or not Darwin was a racist or not is irrelevant to his theory. Glenn Beck is really tapping into a red herring here. It's Darwin's theory that is important. Whether he was a racist does not diminish or do away with his page. And, Glenn Beck is a Mormon, need we talk about the Mormon's belief about Black People?
@Stitchman3875 It's crazy but I made a video a long ass time ago making exactly that point, I think I'm even going to throw an annotation up with a link to it in the video but here it is anyway... watch?v=jZTKrgCQALE Check it out, it makes exactly that same point in a rather brutal fashion.
@OGjimbo I'll definitely check into it. One thing that annoys both as a Catholic and as someone who accepts Evolution is when Glenn Beck uses back door arguments to tear down the theory. It's one thing to try to debunk, but it's another to attack it with irrelevant issues. And Beck becomes especially hypocritical when he calls racism without acknowledging what Mormons originally said about Blacks.
@Stitchman3875 Indeed! I actually agree with some of Glen Beck's views and I respect his passion... but god, he needs to keep his big trap shut on anything touching on religion.
I hate not having a political party. Dual party system sucks. We need a poly-party system.
@JuryDutySummons That would be nice to have a multiple party system. There is always another side of the story. I haven't heard much of Glenn Beck speak, but what i have heard is not too impressive. He needs to stick with what he knows.
@mastaODI56 Racism goes to varying degrees. So Darwin may not have been a racist in the sense of the KKK or anything, but everyone has a certain level of racism within them. But that's not my point. The point is that creationists like to use racism as a catalyst to disregard his theory. Racism or lack thereof has nothing to do with the credibility of Evolution. The theory stands apart from it. Whether he was or wasn't does not diminish nor discredit his work. That's my point.
@mastaODI56 The other point if any is that Glenn Beck is a Mormon. Considering the teachings of the Mormon Church in regard to African Americans, I would say that it is very hypocritical to point fingers at racism when you are part of a worldview that had seemingly low things to say about Black People.
Rant On Bro! BTW: Beck asserts Darwin was a Wedgwood! STUPID! Darwin married a Wedgwood. Beck couldn't pass a high school proficiency exam in history. But then we have the stupid leading the stupid...the surprise phenomenon of the 21st century.
Charles Darwin was a Darwin indeed, but his mother was Susannah Wedgwood, she was his first cousin. Commbine this with his shootin' and huntin' an' the interest he took in the US Civil War (though a supporter on the NORTHERN side, Darwin REALLY HATED slavery) and we have discovered the English equivalent of the Hillbilly. Are we talking here about paralel or convergent evolution?
"Deear Cusin Charles,
we have shot ourselves a nice bag of slave owners.
@adrenacrumb "The United States was the first country to concertedly undertake compulsory sterilization programs for the purpose of eugenics." I knew that; it was part of the class warfare that the rich have been waging on the poor, in this country, for the last couple centuries. That's real capitalism at its heart.
Who listens to someone who wears 'special' Mormon underwear, cries when the Mormon leader passed, abused alcohol, supports Palin, calls Obama a Muslim? Slap this guy and Rush inbetween two pieces of bread and we have an idiot sandwich.
Funny that most of the racist people I've met have been rather religious. And seems to me the less religious people are the less likely they are to be racist.
@frednoname1 Well you appear to be a troll so I don't know why I really give a shit what your opinions are but I am not a part of any "left wing" or "right wing" group. This has nothing to do with left or right and everything to do with actual facts.
I love shooting guns, I don't hate gay people, I do believe that the government is way over inflated, I do think we should spend less money and I do believe that one way to do that is by reducing our forces abroad. So call me what you will.
What a moron Beck is, it was the Progressives in New England who forced the issue of slavery and precipitated the US Civil War!
Beck is a Mormon, they still believe that black skin is a curse from God. They did not even allow people on color to be full church members until 1978! The Mormons ARE modern day racists.
@frednoname1 then there appears to be a rebranding of the word progressive, don't know why anyone would choose to call them selves a progressive over liberal.
How the fuck do people like this get away with saying such disingenuous crap? . . . Fuckers like glen beck would never be able to say things like that in the UK as we have Laws against the media spewing bullshit.
Then I'm sorry, but then you know nothing of Darwin. He in fact used his theory to show that we were the same race while other people (the Christian right) kept pushing the idea that black people were somehow impure and lesser.
Don't believe me?. . . Go read some biographies and some of his works.
But let me guess, you won't do it because you people don't care for facts when they disagree with what you want.
Well you're lying, because I actually have read plenty of darwins works. Just look at his time on the beagle, while the other Europeans wanted to be treated as superior darwin lived with the tribes absorbing the culture and learning the customs. . . Darwin didn't feel superior to anyone.
If anything Darwin pushed for a less racist world. if you actually read his works you would know this.
@manhunt48 I have read his works. You obviously have not. He quite specificaly stated blacks are not as evolved as whites. In fact he based that off the whites evolving out to the city states of Greece.
It doesn't invalidate the base theories but the guy was racist. He also talked about the destruction of whole races.
haha, way to misrepresent darwin. . . The decent of man, he argues that very point, for and against. Now if you were intellectually honest enough you wouldn't such a coward as misrepresent what position he comes out on.
Liberal hate sites?. . What the fuck are you talking about?
You see this is exactly what i mean, You've called out on your bullshit and you are far to intellectually dishonest to acknowledge this, now all you can do is try to call darwins book (which i have in my hand now) a "liberal hate site". . . How pathetic are you?
@manhunt48 Liberal hate sites like media matters post stuff out of context, or just lie all the time. Darwins writings clearly show he was a racist, WHICH YOU WOULD KNOW IF YOU READ THEM.
Well that would be great if i even heard of media matters. In fact, clearly unlike you I i don't go to second hand sources. I went right to darwins book for these quotes. So unlike what you've read they aren't out of context.
Amazing, do you actually read what you're typing?. . . Pot met kettle much?
The Decent of man - "This diversity of judgment does not prove that the races ought not to be ranked as species, but it shews that they graduate into each other, and that it is hardly possible to discover clear distinctive characters between them."
Just one of many quotes which show you to be full of shit when it comes to darwin, you sir are a liar.
It's truly sad to watch how people have twist and corrupt darwin in order to make him appear as pathetic as you.
I see no point in posting other quotes as you'll simply ignore them like you did the last . . . However just for other people who may read these comment here's another one
"I was incessantly struck, whilst living with the Feugians on board the "Beagle," with the many little traits of character, shewing how similar their minds were to ours"
Yes well his point was that their were sub-species of men, some more advanced than others. Feugians and other lower species were basicaly like cute cuddly pets to him.
@manhunt48 Dude, he's getting all his information from some biased, Creationist website or some extreme right wing rag of some type or another and he's accusing you of what he himself is guilty of.
In other words, he's a troll that will not actually look into it for himself no matter what you say or how many direct quotes you pull up proving him wrong.
If you're having fun, by all means continue destroying his argument, I'm just pointing out the troll factor.

Very scary that so many people eat his shit up like candy and fill their lazy brains with so much bullshit. Shame that in our country the only two people gathering big crowds are Beck and Palin.

why don't you read Charles Darwin's autobiography before defending Darwin. It shows how much you know. Darwin was a Freemason, like his Grandfather.
Thank you for your time.
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
I see some Dyslexia in your rant (no harm, nothing to be ashamed of).
It looks like you claim G.Beck said C.Darwin was racist and came to his conclusions because of those beliefs. But the visoe you showed didn't show that, it showed the other way around: C.Darwin theorized evolution & natural selection. The formed the basis of the theory of social darwinism and "survival of the fittest". SOTF was the basis for Eugenics. The use of evolution (calling a person less evolved) also played a part.
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@bsabruzzo Darwin did not theorize evolution and natural selection, he just translated it for the layman. But that's not important.
The people who use evolution, or simply see evolution as proof of their racist beliefs are just racist people. Darwin did not make them that way.
How bout this - Some southerners lynched black men in the south for flirting with white women and said they did it because of exodus 22:19. They were racist. Did the bible plant the seed?
notaperson2012 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 How does "Whoever sacrifices to any god, except to the Lord alone, shall be doomed" apply to your example?
Maybe you were thinking of Exodux 20:18? But that would mean they should kill their women for sleeping with black men, so that doesn't apply either.
But to the point, If the Bible said to kill people for a certain reason and people do, yes, the Bible planted the seed.
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 And, yes, C.Darwin took the ideas of Jean-Baptiste Lamarck's theories of evolution as a spontaneous change based on geography and need and he added the natural selection part, where it happens through selective mating and offspring. In his Red Notebook (1837), C.Darwin worked out his theory. His cousin, Sir Francis Galton, took those ideas and formed the "science" of eugenics.
It's up to interpretation which came first, Galton's chicken or Darwin's egg.
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@bsabruzzo I don't know where you get your info from dude. Lamarck's theory of acquired characteristics was never given a lot of respect from Darwin. What Darwin did for evolution was similar to what Columbus did for the round Earth.
Inheritance of traits was a known concept then. Any animal breeder understood that. Do you think Darwin was the only person who figured out that nature is competitive? He found empirical evidence for evolution
Galton argued for intrinsic superiority.
notaperson2012 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 Yes, animal husbandry was understood for centuries. The theory that a one species becomes another or changes on it own was not a formalized theiry until Lamarck. No Darwin didn't think much of Lamarck's theory until he moved to London in 1837 and he and John Gould had a number of discussions about the Galápagos finches.
It doesn't matter if Darwin gave a flying hoot to Lamarck's work, he heard about it from his time at the Plinian Society and from his granfather's writings.
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 My point is that one idea, like animal and plant life, evolves. What people "knew" wasn't the theory. The concept Lamarck set as a comprehensive concept became, through many steps, Darwin's Finches and natural selection. That theory became, through an evolution of theory, the basis for Galton's Eugenics.
As for where one draws the line at who's idea was the conceptual foundation for racism, I put it ad Neanderthal vs Homo Sapien, but moder theory is pinned on Darwin.
bsabruzzo 1 year ago

notaperson2012 1 year ago
@bsabruzzo Ideas don't make people racist. The conceptual foundation for racism comes from one person's need to believe they are better and entitled to more than others. Before Darwin, it was manifest destiny. Racist people will interpret the ideas they are given to justify what they need to believe. God or science, it doesn't matter. To call Darwin the father of modern racism is to out yourself as someone who cannot interpret his theories any other way. Or, an obvious non secular motive.
notaperson2012 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 "Ideas don't make people racist" I agree. Just as calling Dr. Tiller a "baby killer" didn't make anybody at FoxNews guilty for the nut-job who killed Tiller, Darwin didn't make anybody a racist. But to think that G.Beck was saying that means you "out yourself as someone who cannot interpret his theories any other way".
A person is not responsible for the actions of their father, nor the father the actions of their son. A hope you grasp that concept.
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@bsabruzzo I never said that Beck meant that. I am saying that. I am saying that about Beck
As far as Dr Tiller, I don't know if Fox News should bear any responsibility but there is a big difference between a book written to describe a scientific theory and the manipulative methods onFox . Fox doesn't look or read like the news. BBC, CNN ABC Al-jazerra, NBC give news. Fox is like Xinhua, commentary, patriotism and the repeated assurance that everyone else is lying but them.
notaperson2012 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 "I never said that Beck meant that. I am saying that. I am saying that about Beck" Too many pronouns and nothing to connect them to. Please elaborate what you are saying.
Are you saying
1) Beck thinks others took C.Darwin's ideas and used them for evil?
2) Beck is using C.Darwin's ideas for evil?
3) Beck is evil?
or
4) Beck called C.Darwin evil?
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@bsabruzzo Beck understands how a person can intepret the theory of evolution as proof of racist beliefs. I believe that. Based on other things he has said. I believe he can speak to those people because he is like minded.
notaperson2012 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 " I believe he can speak to those people because he is like minded." So, to infer, you believe that only a person who thinks a certain way can understand and explain that way to others. Hence, you can't understand or explain anything about G.Beck unless you though like him.
There is a flaw in your logic. But you knew that already.
I suppose now I have to believe, based on your comments, that teachers can never teach their students, unless they are already taught.
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 This is a bit confusing as I have been taught by people from multiple view points and beliefs and learned from them. Does this mean they believed in Hitler's meathods (oh no, high school teachers ARE Nazis)? Does this mean that my college classes in comparative philosophy was taught by a schizophrenic ?
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 As for "manifest festiny", it sounds like you don't like it. Good because it is a coruption of devine providence (or as the secular community would say: greed is the coruption of luck). You agree with G.Beck about manifest destiny, how about that?
In fact, it might come as a surprize that you seem to agree with Beck about a number of things.
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@bsabruzzo I am sure I agree with what he may have said on the subject at one time. I imagine we both think slavery was immoral.
Thing about Beck is he has no integrity. His "beliefs" change, he contradicts himself. Just look at the 180 he did on the 9/11 mosque.
Watch, now that a significant chunk of newscorp is owned by an uber rich muslim we will see if Beck changes yet again. He will probably have to leave fox if he doesn't .
notaperson2012 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 "Just look at the 180 he [Beck] did on the 9/11 mosque." Let's see, he did and still does believe that freedom of religion and property are constitutionally firm, thus he is okay that the Cardoba Center/Park One/GZMosque is okay to build. He also says that, like Justice Keegan, that a person with terrorist ties and terrorist funding should be fully investigated and brought to justice.
Nothing has changed here. No contradiction. Do you have an example where Beck did?
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@bsabruzzo Other than the fact that he calls it a victory mosque and attempts to link its contributors to terrorists? Kind of like the way that Fox linked Obama to Ayres. He is now saying that we are just too tolerant. He does not appear to have an issue with the way that people simply link all muslims together with the ones who crashed into the twin towers. The muslims who want to build Cordoba consider it an affront to what those muslims stand for.
notaperson2012 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 Yes, other that naming the community center after the site where the Moors destroyed a church to build a mosque, the fact that Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf will not denouce the terrorist group Hammas, Rauf has received the money from an undisclosed source in the Middle East (something Pres. Obama said he'd crack down on) and that there not only is another mosque nearby but that a church has not been approved for years and Park51 was fasttracked.
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 But Beck has had a problem with "the way that people simply link all muslims together with the ones who crashed into the twin towers". In fact Media Matters (those who hate Beck) dug up a video that shows Beck in the past siding with moderate muslims and just a week or so ago Beck said he has no problem is muslims like Raheel Raza built mosques anywhere.
But, he said, if the gov't is serious about checking for bad actors (as they said they were), the can't avoid looking.
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@bsabruzzo Exactly my point, He says one thing and then something else. Those moderate views have changed. Defend him all you want he is on television and radio too much for you to cover up all of his hatred
notaperson2012 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 But Beck hasn't said anything that contradicts his previous statements... not without sitting and reseaching and learning (I though that's what one does when one reflects on the turth and discovers new facts?).
Maybe if you could show where Beck has " one thing and then something else" without gaining new facts you could enlighten me.
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 Going over the being fine with a mosque (not changed) and moderate muslims (not changed), against terrorists (not changed) and coruption (not changed), I am still trying to find the place where you say he changed. He is consistant on the Constitutional points (hey, like Pres. Obama) and consistant with the national security points (hey like Pres. Obama said he was...).
Beck has even said he understands about people hating a religion building a new church (CLDS).
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@bsabruzzo No. You believe in Beck. The Mosque stuff is pretty blatant and its there. He changes a lot and his defense up to now has been that he is a comedian. He is a liar. bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@bsabruzzo Blatant was a reference to the 180 regarding the 911 mosque. And calling it a victory mosque and attempting to conspiracy theorize the contributors and terrorists is an about face from his earlier comments, the one that media matters pointed out.

No, wait, sending people who don't want to think about facts and will never actually look at reality should find friends.
And 180 (degrees) means turning to the opposite direction. As the being for freedom of religion, but about national defence is not contradictory and when facts invove real questions, nothing contradictory about that.
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@bsabruzzo Whatever dude. Beck is a tool that newscorp uses. He is offensive to most people who are not white. That should tell you something, unless of course that perspective is simply not important in your mind.
As far as 180 degrees, what did you think I meant? I said he was contradicting himself, as in going in the other direction, as in 180 degrees, as in "about face". Do you desire condescension so much that you lie to yourself to get a jab in?
notaperson2012 1 year ago

Glenn Beck is a vile racist and when he says things like "Darwin, the father of modern racism" he is just outing himself as a racist. He obviously knows how evolution works and his mind has reached the only conclusion it can, that his race is superior and that is what Charles Darwin meant. I think that is how a lot or racists see the world.
If a racist reads the bible they interpret it to mean that their race is superior and that is what God meant.
notaperson2012 1 year ago
@notaperson2012 So G.Beck disagrees with C.Darwin and to you that shows that he is agreeing?
Something has been bothering me throughout this entire debate about G.Beck...
How is "treat everybody equally" and "love your brother" racist? How is "judge people on the content of their character and not the color of their skin" racist? How is " equal justice and equal rights" racist?
bsabruzzo 1 year ago
@bsabruzzo Not what I am saying at all. Charles Darwin was as racist as anyone else in his day. Beck is referring to the current eugenics argument from the mouths an neo-nazis. When they state blacks are less evolved than whites. Nonsense like that. That makes no sense to anyone who understands just the basics evolution.
None of that stuff is racist. What is racist is the belief that one race is better than another, that one is entitled to more. This does not describe Beck?
notaperson2012 1 year ago

Eugenics actually existed back in ancient Greece, but it wasn't known by that pseudo-scientific term and attributed inherited traits from the gods and not genes. They also noticed differences passed down through the generations between patricians and slaves. Christianity then came along and said everyone is an equal brother of God. Then, Christianity exacerbated elitism by promoting a "divine" order, which motivated slavery and serfdom.

You're kidding right? Glenn Beck doesn't READ!!!

you could ask anyone, most racist people don't believe in evolution. Most of them are probably deeply religious.

Beck needs a straight jacket and a lifetime supply of Thorazine. Seriously.
bamboo4tameshigiri 1 year ago
If I may interject something here. Whether or not Darwin was a racist or not is irrelevant to his theory. Glenn Beck is really tapping into a red herring here. It's Darwin's theory that is important. Whether he was a racist does not diminish or do away with his page. And, Glenn Beck is a Mormon, need we talk about the Mormon's belief about Black People?
Stitchman3875 1 year ago 4
@Stitchman3875 It's crazy but I made a video a long ass time ago making exactly that point, I think I'm even going to throw an annotation up with a link to it in the video but here it is anyway... watch?v=jZTKrgCQALE Check it out, it makes exactly that same point in a rather brutal fashion.
OGjimbo 1 year ago
@OGjimbo I'll definitely check into it. One thing that annoys both as a Catholic and as someone who accepts Evolution is when Glenn Beck uses back door arguments to tear down the theory. It's one thing to try to debunk, but it's another to attack it with irrelevant issues. And Beck becomes especially hypocritical when he calls racism without acknowledging what Mormons originally said about Blacks.
Stitchman3875 1 year ago
@Stitchman3875 Indeed! I actually agree with some of Glen Beck's views and I respect his passion... but god, he needs to keep his big trap shut on anything touching on religion.
I hate not having a political party. Dual party system sucks. We need a poly-party system.
JuryDutySummons 1 year ago
@JuryDutySummons That would be nice to have a multiple party system. There is always another side of the story. I haven't heard much of Glenn Beck speak, but what i have heard is not too impressive. He needs to stick with what he knows.
Stitchman3875 1 year ago
@Stitchman3875 darwin writes in his book the origin of man that he is not racist so yea he wasnt
mastaODI56 1 year ago
@mastaODI56 Racism goes to varying degrees. So Darwin may not have been a racist in the sense of the KKK or anything, but everyone has a certain level of racism within them. But that's not my point. The point is that creationists like to use racism as a catalyst to disregard his theory. Racism or lack thereof has nothing to do with the credibility of Evolution. The theory stands apart from it. Whether he was or wasn't does not diminish nor discredit his work. That's my point.
Stitchman3875 1 year ago
@mastaODI56 The other point if any is that Glenn Beck is a Mormon. Considering the teachings of the Mormon Church in regard to African Americans, I would say that it is very hypocritical to point fingers at racism when you are part of a worldview that had seemingly low things to say about Black People.
Stitchman3875 1 year ago
Rant On Bro! BTW: Beck asserts Darwin was a Wedgwood! STUPID! Darwin married a Wedgwood. Beck couldn't pass a high school proficiency exam in history. But then we have the stupid leading the stupid...the surprise phenomenon of the 21st century.
DonSSanders 1 year ago 2
@DonSSanders
Want them skins?..."

adrenacrumb 1 year ago
@adrenacrumb "The United States was the first country to concertedly undertake compulsory sterilization programs for the purpose of eugenics." I knew that; it was part of the class warfare that the rich have been waging on the poor, in this country, for the last couple centuries. That's real capitalism at its heart.

FFS, lying like that would get him a libel suit if the person Beck was speaking about was alive.
its obvious: Glen Beck is the father of modern Trolls.

@frednoname1
Leftwing hate group?!?!? hahaha is that really what you've been reduced to?. . . How in any way what so ever have we been hateful?
Now bare in that it's you who will not listen to facts or quotes because they show your vendetta against darwin to be complete bollocks.
manhunt48 1 year ago
@frednoname1 Well you appear to be a troll so I don't know why I really give a shit what your opinions are but I am not a part of any "left wing" or "right wing" group. This has nothing to do with left or right and everything to do with actual facts.
I love shooting guns, I don't hate gay people, I do believe that the government is way over inflated, I do think we should spend less money and I do believe that one way to do that is by reducing our forces abroad. So call me what you will.
OGjimbo 1 year ago 3
Wait.. Isn't Glenn Beck a Mormon? ..It's a bit rich for him to comment of racism, don't ya think?

Awesome, Jimbo
sevenahm 1 year ago
What a moron Beck is, it was the Progressives in New England who forced the issue of slavery and precipitated the US Civil War!
Beck is a Mormon, they still believe that black skin is a curse from God. They did not even allow people on color to be full church members until 1978! The Mormons ARE modern day racists.
disrxt 1 year ago
@disrxt And now you are lying about the mormons.
frednoname1 1 year ago
Progressivism has nothing to do with Eugenics. I like how he links some of the most positive words with Nazi activities.
unobscureness 1 year ago
@unobscureness Early progressives all supported the idea of eugenics. Look it up. Margret Sanger sure did.
frednoname1 1 year ago
@frednoname1 then there appears to be a rebranding of the word progressive, don't know why anyone would choose to call them selves a progressive over liberal.
unobscureness 1 year ago
How the fuck do people like this get away with saying such disingenuous crap? . . . Fuckers like glen beck would never be able to say things like that in the UK as we have Laws against the media spewing bullshit.
manhunt48 1 year ago
@manhunt48 Because Beck is right about darwin, darwin was a racist.
frednoname1 1 year ago
@frednoname1
Then I'm sorry, but then you know nothing of Darwin. He in fact used his theory to show that we were the same race while other people (the Christian right) kept pushing the idea that black people were somehow impure and lesser.
Don't believe me?. . . Go read some biographies and some of his works.
But let me guess, you won't do it because you people don't care for facts when they disagree with what you want.
manhunt48 1 year ago
@manhunt48 No, i did look at his works. Darwin basically considered blacks a failed subspecies.
Look it up.
frednoname1 1 year ago
@frednoname1
Well you're lying, because I actually have read plenty of darwins works. Just look at his time on the beagle, while the other Europeans wanted to be treated as superior darwin lived with the tribes absorbing the culture and learning the customs. . . Darwin didn't feel superior to anyone.
If anything Darwin pushed for a less racist world. if you actually read his works you would know this.
manhunt48 1 year ago
@manhunt48 I have read his works. You obviously have not. He quite specificaly stated blacks are not as evolved as whites. In fact he based that off the whites evolving out to the city states of Greece.
It doesn't invalidate the base theories but the guy was racist. He also talked about the destruction of whole races.
frednoname1 1 year ago
@frednoname1
haha, way to misrepresent darwin. . . The decent of man, he argues that very point, for and against. Now if you were intellectually honest enough you wouldn't such a coward as misrepresent what position he comes out on.
Truly pathetic.
manhunt48 1 year ago
@manhunt48 Whatever makes you feel better about yourself.
Next time try reading the books. Its more accurate than believing what you see on liberal hate sites.
frednoname1 1 year ago
@frednoname1
Grow a spine will you?
manhunt48 1 year ago
@manhunt48 Liberal hate sites like media matters post stuff out of context, or just lie all the time. Darwins writings clearly show he was a racist, WHICH YOU WOULD KNOW IF YOU READ THEM.
You don't have his book in youir hand liar.
frednoname1 1 year ago
@frednoname1
Well that would be great if i even heard of media matters. In fact, clearly unlike you I i don't go to second hand sources. I went right to darwins book for these quotes. So unlike what you've read they aren't out of context.
Amazing, do you actually read what you're typing?. . . Pot met kettle much?
manhunt48 1 year ago
@frednoname1
It's truly sad to watch how people have twist and corrupt darwin in order to make him appear as pathetic as you.
manhunt48 1 year ago 3
@manhunt48 Now post the other quotes....
Nah you won't. The liberal hate sites you got this from don't have them.
frednoname1 1 year ago
@frednoname1
I see no point in posting other quotes as you'll simply ignore them like you did the last . . . However just for other people who may read these comment here's another one
"I was incessantly struck, whilst living with the Feugians on board the "Beagle," with the many little traits of character, shewing how similar their minds were to ours"
manhunt48 1 year ago
@manhunt48
Yes well his point was that their were sub-species of men, some more advanced than others. Feugians and other lower species were basicaly like cute cuddly pets to him.
frednoname1 1 year ago
@manhunt48 Dude, he's getting all his information from some biased, Creationist website or some extreme right wing rag of some type or another and he's accusing you of what he himself is guilty of.
In other words, he's a troll that will not actually look into it for himself no matter what you say or how many direct quotes you pull up proving him wrong.
If you're having fun, by all means continue destroying his argument, I'm just pointing out the troll factor.
OGjimbo 1 year ago
@OGjimbo
Haha I couldn't agree more with you. . . In the end it's only him that looks pathetic. It's people like him that drive people away from that religion and towards rational thinking.
Remeber, according to the magic book, liars go to hell.
Now he says he's read darwins works, and with what i've pointed out it shows he's either lying about darwins position, or he hasn't read darwins works. Either way he's toast (according to his
