@wyten I did run Professional with 256 and 128 MB of RAMand they both run quite well. The trick is to use Windows Media Player 9 or 10 and Firefox 3.6 (don't even bother upgrading IE, you will only slow down the system that way.) and use Windows classic theme. The 'suck' part only comes in when it starts to update your computer and take up your hard disk space.

@GureckEntertainment Vista tried too hard to copy mac, and was rushed into the market; it didn't work out at all. Seven is a huge step up from vista, but followed after it too much. Xp will run everything you want it to, is WAY more open source than vista and 7, has better personalization and theme options, and can be run on just about any computer. I also kinda like the way it operates better.
