I was really looking forward to this production. I saw it in Woking. But it wasn't that good. Connie Fisher was charming but played the wedding scene for laughs by doing a "funny" walk from the convent. Also, the wedding scene was rushed. The opening scene on the mountain looked like it was done on some cardboard boxes covered in astro turf. That said, the performances by the cast were generally excellent. But it IS a watered down version of the Palladium production!
My early hours search for Michael's headshots brought me here and to tears, wonderful, joyous ones! Thank you! I look for more ~ Janet Thompson Deaver
I went to the opening night and Leslet Garrett was the Abbess but I saw it again and Maggie Preece in the same role was even better - a glass shattering soprano voice of exquisite clarity.
i saw this show in feb this year in edinburgh it was fantastic the whole cast outstanding connie fisher a star im going to salzburg next year cant wait
I think its the most amazing thing i have seen in quite sometime, the whole cast are amazing, but my fave is Michael Praed as Capt Von Trapp, especially his rendition of Edlewiess and his gutiar playing - I have loved the guitar since i was little as my dad used to play his guitar to us, he learnt on a 6 string but now plays a 12 string, He and his mates went busking round Europe in the 60's and he has given me the old guitar he used, though sadly i cant play it - but i do treasure it.

Had free tickets when visiting so why not go. After seeing the the man who played VonTrapp, Praed, most of the people sitting around me had the same question I did. Why would they cast a gay man to play VonTrapp. Other than that is was okay
@muttzie ????????????????????? do what ??? LOL errrr, as far as myself and many many many many others are aware, the question that you asked yourself is not applicable to the actor you mention who plays Captain Von Trapp. I have seen Mr Praed in this and suffice to say that after having met him also, that in no way shape or form did i or have i ever thought or think as you did, quite the oppostie, as did most from the comments that i heard around me - lucky Connie and Kirsty i say !!!!
Friedrik is.. uh. never mind.

is that the Nazi sign in the back?
superacornz 1 year ago
@superacornz That is the Nazi insignia in the background. Austria was already under German rule, i.e. Hitler.

WOW I remember watching Michael Praed as Robin Of Sherwood... with Clannad singing the title music... Wonderful stuff it was too...
He will be a fantastic Captain Von Trapp and as for Connie... Fabulous, simply fabulous, she is definitely on her way to super-stardom...
You go girl, the world is your oyster kiddo... :0)x

Well I am glad you enjoyed the show, muttzie. But why are you under the misapprehension that Michael is gay? I can assure you he is not.
Or is that just wishful thinking on your part?
