Wow! First time i've ever heard this one, and what a symbol of what the Carpenters would become. I know it could be taken as more like a religious song, but to think that Karen comes out of the block on her first song and says "All those whose eyes would see, render them in faith to me!" Yes, ma'am! Don't have to ask me twice!
This is one of the most beautiful works I have ever heard. Thanks for posting! I have never heard this piece by the Carpenters. Were they religious at all?
Thanks for posting this one. I read about this song in Ray Coleman's Carpenter's authorized biography, but had never heard it before. Isn't there also one bookending the album this came from called Benediction?

... and probably would have continued had they not worn themselves out touring and learned to enjoy it a little.

Is there any place to find sheet music for Invocation or Benediction? My church choir would adore these for Sunday services!!!!

Karen Carpenter was the love child of the 70's

Yup. "Invocation" begins the "Offering"/"Ticket to Ride" debut album, and "Benediction" comes at the end.
