@piefukker They are a bunch of intellectual bandwagoners!! Just there to impress their dates, they wouldn't be able to recognize a good jazz solo to save their ass!!
you would think that people would know better... damn. everytime I ever attended an IAJE conference, I was dissapointed-not by the talent, or the experience, but the lack of class. ugh.
why so much chattering in background, this is at the IAJE-convention of Jazz Educators...did the people in the back of the room not realize what they were missing by chatting away obliviously?
Who says I'm saying it in vain? I truly wish that God had intervened and done some kind of divine miracle to silence the talking audience while these two master craftsmen created a work of beauty.
Cool, and my pleasure to share! Couldn't resist the opp to take the video. The Canon S2 IS is one of the few still/video cameras I know of that takes video in stereo. I believe there is now an S3 as well. Long live these two jazz greats.
I was there too, and this video has better sound than mine. This was a truly magical and historical moment. The musical energy between them was amazing! Thanks for sharing.
i can understand why people would be restless, this is an exciting event -- but, honestly people, let yourself (AND ONE ANOTHER) enjoy this moment. sit still and shut up! transcend!
Toronto has the worst jazz audience in the world. I know, I'm from there. People always talking... not listening.. only some people care. The rest are telling the management to ask the musicians to please play more quiet. Applause is embarrassing. It's a drag. If this were happening in Germany (for ex) you could hear a pin drop...

academics are the worst audience - they think they are more interesting than the artists they profess to study

Since when did Kurt Elling play bass? Oh wait... he's air-bassing. Cute...

My understanding is that he was a bass player before he stepped out as a singer.
