This song popped in my head while i was drying my locs, I started groovin' to it like it came out yesterday. This song is about 25 years old and its still hot to me that's what I call music! Thanks
Before Jesse Johnson thought he was Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and John Lennon all in one with his last overblown double album, he was prodcuing tight Mpls funk like this.
This song just puts me in a good place. I remember hearing it on the radio quite a bit back when the subways were dusty and dirtier and everything was all love and fun.
@smoothpants That was actually Jesse Johnson after his guitar solo. They say he was directing it at Prince. His career did suddenly end after that hmmmmmmm.
I travel to minneapolis a lot and have met her a couple of times. She sings at a club called Bunker's every monday nite. Wonderful lady. A lot of ex-Prince musicians play with
Wow, just now realized that TaMara and Sharon Bryant ( lead singer of Atlantic Starr) have similar tones and styles. Listen to "Circles" by Atlantic Starr and you'll hear the similarities. I love them both.
Miz Baby Girl,I'd love to thank you for posting this joint on here. I was in the 9th grade at James Monroe High School in The Bronx near Bronx River Houses when this played on 98.7 Kiss FM(WRKS) and 107.5 FM(WBLS). That was the time when the 1st semester was getting ready to end.
A true sleeper. NEW YORKERS RISE UP & REP THIS TRAX... a true get ya dance on played on the N.Y.C. radios 24/7...man reminds me of my days in the Bronx... Queens.. Manhattan ahhh my high school sweet heart @ the time! ultra brite smile! Thank You!
@dal4018 You must remember jesse johnson was a protoge of prince.Anything from minneapolis sounds like prince, but it was jesse johnson that discovered them.
I can't believe i finally found this song...i was in the 8th grade when i 1st heard this song. OMG!!! I still love the sentiment in the lyrics. Awesome!!!
It's hard to beat the vibe on this jam. I feel just like the guy cruisin' in the Rolls Royce in the video to this song whenever this plays. This is a serious 85 degree, wind blowing, cruisin' down the road joint. All I want is a copy of this song.... That's all I really want...!
Let me tell you something, I found this LP on ebay about 6 years ago and lost it. I heard this on the radio when it first came out in '85 I was living in NYC at the time. This jam was so hot, the DJ played it twice.. I'm talking about back to back during daytime radio! Also, this is the remixed version, not the original which in my opinion is the better of the two. Rare HOT jam! thanks for posting. finally, a lot of folks don't remember this classic Minn. sound.
Oh my GODDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
