My dad was a christian and was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years back and he WAS afraid of dying. He was praying to God that he would live and guess how praying worked out for him... He fucking died. 56 years old. and he was a very good man. Why would God let him die? He wouldn't. IF HE WAS REAL! The reason he died was because the cancer was spreading and the doctors couldn't stop it. Praying dosen't help. it dosen't help talking to youself. It only keeps your hopes up.

When I was younger I attended my local Christian youth centre because I was encouraged, we were taught that you can only go to heaven if you're completely perfect (as in, you've never done anything wrong) but the thing is nobody's perfect, everyone has done something that they're not proud of or something that's upset somebody, so basically if there was a Hell we'd all be going there.

Christians are actually more afraid of death than Atheists, being an Atheist all I'm concerned about is how I will die when the time comes (I personally hope won't be a painful death) and I'm not worried about where I will go because as far as know where we go after we die is just something we can't know.
Christians on the other hand are scared shitless about dying because of the fear of where they'll go which according to them will either be Heaven or Hell.

When I was younger I attended my local Christian youth centre because I was encouraged, we were taught that you can only go to heaven if you're completely perfect (as in, you've never done anything wrong) but the thing is nobody's perfect, everyone has done something that they're not proud of or something that's upset somebody, so basically if there was a Hell we'd all be going there.

Christians are actually more afraid of death than Atheists, being an Atheist all I'm concerned about is how I will die when the time comes (I personally hope won't be a painful death) and I'm not worried about where I will go because as far as know where we go after we die is just something we can't know.
Christians on the other hand are scared shitless about dying because of the fear of where they'll go which according to them will either be Heaven or Hell.

My favourite part about this is that Christians didn't get that it was sarcastic satire and voted it up. I'm not saying all Christians are stupid; but there is a negative link between religious belief and intelligence. For example, only one nobel prize winner was at all religious, under 3% of MENSA as well.

Nobody knows who the "smartest" people are, it's all up to debate because they lived in different times with contrasting technologies so its pointless to even guess. Newton was religious but not like modern western christians. He was an Arian christian along the same lines as Hitler and the Nazis when it came to faith. @kurozaki45 That is a very common misconception that a lot of uneducated and unintelligent people get wrong. Newton lived much longer ago than Einstein and therefore people remember Einstein more, but smarter people can recognize that Newton was more intelligent and basically created physics.

@lifeishomeless if you thought in terms of classical physics the orbiting electrons in the atoms should radiate electromagnetic waves ,when you take an electrically charged particle and you wave it around in a circle you produce electromagnetic waves and so if the atoms are continually emitting electromagnetic waves they should lose energy and if the electrons lose energy their orbits should spiral inwards toward the nucleus .......so the atom should collapse inward.....implode

The need for a god is a self satisfier it is a natural stress reducer it makes the quality of life better for most but then again most people in the world we live in today are closed minded.There are wonderful Christians out there but most do their deeds in a week then on Sunday they expect to be forgiven and for their sins to be forgotten. @zackfair73195 Christians deserve Hell. As does every human being ever born. The whole point of the Gospels is that while we deserve death and seperation from God for eternity,Christ made it possible for all who believe to receive God's unmerited favor (grace).
