It's contrived. But who contrived it? The most likely answer is Saunierre. He planted EVERYTHING including the mummified body. But how? They would have you believe he was a threat to the Church. Be smart...stay away from stuff like this kids. It has absolutely no meaning other than contraversy. Think about it, they have done all the work to insure you believe it. I have the feeling that those artifacts and clues were planted there by the Priory themselves, possibly specifically for the filmmaker and his contacts to find, but they could very well be authentic nonetheless. The Priory seems to operate by fabricating details and setting up magnificent scavenger hunts to tell a story that seems very likely to be true.

Well, the docs were only supposed to be ~ 100 years old, most of them. I've worked in the art world, handling docs of similar age, and while we almost always wore gloves, there were times when when we didn't; the paper was in some cases already in such bad shape from foxing that extensive restoration work was already needed. Also, there are semi-safe ways to handle paper bare-skin to minimize transfer of oils.
But the artifacts--yeah, anything that old needs gloves & safe handling.

I really don't care if Jesus was married or had children or even if he died on the cross. Jesus must have been somewhat important or there wouldn't have been so many books written about him. The problem I have is that why do so many people believe that Jesus is a lord. Jesus is God's son, not a lord. I am definitely not saying I am his equal either, far from it.
