Rommel was undoubtedly one of the greatest and most adept military leaders in history. What a tragedy that he had to fight a war for such an unholy and highly delusional bunch of villains like the Nazis.
I would imagine, that he would have been an important figure in post war Germany if he had survived the war. He was respected as a soldier and wasn't seen as political.
Fucking great men. What about the Americans? Are you thick? They destroyed no empires. The Romans, killed the opposing army, made a good state. The British opposed armies, and made a free religious state (India). The Japs and Russians adored violence to civilians. Rommel fought the 8th Army, as a gent. There were no murders.

It is no wonder that General General George Patton tried so desperately to meet Herr Rommel in the Field, but sadly, such a history making engagement was never to occur and we can only speculate on it's outcome. Rommel was an honorable man, who was forced into suicide for plotting against Hitler. We can only wish that America has similar men now.

Actually when Hitler became a leader in Germany Rommel was very happy about it and supported Hitler. In fact he was leader of Hitlers bodyguard group and traveled with Hitler until Germany attacked in France 1940 and Hitler gave Rommel a panzerdivision which fought in France.
When Germany started to lose the war Rommel wanted to get Hitler out of power. But Rommel was still very loyal to Hitler and even made victory parade for Hitler when Germany invaded Poland.
