@deadizle Romans 8:6-9 For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace: because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can it be: 8 and they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you. But if any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Ok, so, there's this awesome video right here that I was going to comment on and then I see that there's a religion debate going on for some reason. Why can we not just talk about how damned awesome this marble run creation is?
As for the religion debate, it's stupid and pointless. none of you know who's right for sure. You'll find out in the afterlife and then the one who's right can do a dance. Until then can we just agree that we're lucky to exist at all?
@AnorhiDemarche Thanks for the comment about the sculpture. As for the afterlife, John 3:18 says: (He that believeth on him is not condemned : but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.) So be careful where you dance in the afterlife since you choose before you go.
@swirlingbrain just because you read it in a book doesnt make it right, i just find it funny to see you reference a piece of writing as undebatable fact
@EmergencyRoom21 These passages were not only written in a book but spoken a long time ago before you were born. Just because you don't accept it doesn't make it not right. You consider the Bible a work of fiction and a debatable fact. I don't. Even historical! Revelation 3:17-22 is another passage written in a book. Do you think you are perfect? You probably think you are sinless and have no need of salvation? Here's even more passages: Proverbs 16:24, Ezekiel 33:11
@swirlingbrain i dont think im perfect i simply dont blindly accept ideas without a little logic and reason, that's all. and i dont know what effect citing passages is supposed to have on me. its like if i said witchraft was impossible and then you cited all seven Harry Potter's as proof that it exists--like using a word in its own definition...
@EmergencyRoom21 To some like myself, the Bible verses mean a lot, they are life and beyond wisdom to live by. To you they don't mean anything at all, even trash to you, foolishness, and something to mince words with me over. Many people have a bias against Jesus, the Bible and Christians, why should you be any different? You've explained your anti-religious feelings. So what if I'm happy to share what I know about Jesus, God, Christians, the Bible or RBSs? 1 Corinthians 1:18-24
@swirlingbrain i just think sometimes it takes a little dignity to have a humble outlook on life questions. I do not think you have the answers, but I don't believe that I do either. Step back for a second and understand that neither you nor I have experienced what comes after life, and i frankly dont believe that you know any more than I do about matters outside this world
@EmergencyRoom21 You forget that Jesus was a historical figure, a real live human, his life account was documented by non-biblical writers such as Josephus, the account of his resurrection seen by hundreds of people. So if I told you that Jesus is who He says He is and if the Bible does tell about these historical facts, at what point do you start to reject it? There's plenty of evidence that demands a verdict and if you close your eyes to it, it doesn't mean it's not there.
@swirlingbrain i guess my flaw is that I rely on reason and logic to get through my day. I don't like to build my life around ideas that cant be tested--ideas that are impossible to disprove
@EmergencyRoom21 As you say, they are impossible to disprove. Proverbs 3:1-7; Romans 1:16-25 Science, however, gets dis-proven, and corrected, and re-corrected all the time, yet you put blind faith in that? So how correct do you think it is? 99% is it less? Of all knowledge, how much does Science know? 1%, 2%? Scientists themselves disagree with each other. Many no longer believe the big bang. Some think we live in a holodeck? What is it you believe? What they do? which is? Ever changing.
@AnorhiDemarche It's my pleasure. I sincerely hope that you will understand how much God loves you and wishes that you not perish and that Jesus is the door to heaven. Call on Him and he will save you and purify your soul. I wish you well my friend.
@swirlingbrain --- jesus is ONE of the doors to heaven. buddha, mohamed, flying spaghetti monster --- there are many gods and they don't all use the same name.
@MrCocopuffin Naw, Acts 4:10-12 says: be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even in him doth this man stand here before you whole. He is the stone which was set at nought of you the builders, which was made the head of the corner. And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved.
@AnorhiDemarche That was a logical comment... and the reply should show you EXACTLY why there's a stupid ass debate on religion because the poster refuses to talk about anything else. Neat sculpture thing, too bad about the tool that posted it on youtube.
@TheDeaconSephiroth John 12:38-40 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? For this cause they could not believe, for that Isaiah said again, He hath blinded their eyes, and he hardened their heart; Lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, And should turn, And I should heal them.
@swirlingbrain, surely without God we would have no sense of wonder and creativity and your beautifully mad sculptures would be lost to us. (Along with, say, the statue of David, the Empire State Building and, ooh, maybe a few other things) And we would be without @CliveAtFive's glorious 'nerdism'! Rock on! :-)
@eflephant Why are so many against religion on youtube? On your side note, I sometimes sell sculptures like this on ebay. This particular one would cost about $700 USD.
@eflephant get a large enough amount of people, with any starting subject, and a large amount of time, and you're bound to have a clash. Youtube is exactly that: millions of people, millions on subjects, and theoreticaly infinite time. Plus it's got the added bonus that you can say pretty much anything to anyone without taking any risk whatsoever. The worst that could happen is some guy you don't know might insult you back.
@eflephant perhaps because there is no other topic more important in the world right now? Nothing comes close to the potential for destroying the human race more quickly than ideologies based upon, and justified by, numerous religious belieifs - in particular the conficting belieifs of Islam and Christianity. There are no wars (other than intellectual) be raged in the world (and never has been) in the name of non-belief.
@MusicStudyMan As we can tell by your comment, atheists love to scoff at, and provoke those who believe. You left out in particular atheists who have started wars with various political ideologies and power struggles. Atheists are usually biased against religion and blame wars on religion directly or indirectly rather than themselves. You do realize that in a way atheism IS a religion and many times it's followers are militantly uncool. So welcome to the party of hypocrites!
Alright, I hate to break up the religious debate, but I have a RBS related question: Have you tried using a smaller-gauge wire? I think the combination of thick wire and small marbles is maximizing your friction and minimizing your momentum... What combinations of wires and ball-sizes have you tried? Thanks.
@CliveAtFive I have many videos to watch on how marbles behave that you could use for case studies for your project. I've used 8 and16 gauge wire mostly but and I've used various other materials and thicknesses. Have you tried various rail and ball combinations? Track Materials? Marble Materials? Separations? @swirlingbrain - Fair points. I am a hopelessly curious physics nerd and your sculptures caught my eyes... I was instantly tempted to make a scupture, so I watched your how-tos, including the segment
@CliveAtFive You should make a sculpture! I think you would enjoy it a lot! I hope that you do! Usually exact mathematics and physics are not all that important. Sure you want to bank the curves so the marble doesn't fly off and you want it to keep rolling and all. Some people like a really shallow drop and other like it more steep. I like it about medium so that I don't have to worry about the ball stopping. You'll find what you like and go with it!
on making loops which, by your estimate should be 1/5th the height of the drop. In a realistic scenario with modest friction, your loop could be nearly 75% the height of your drop-point. Max efficiency probably doesn't "always" matter, but I find the conserved transfer between potential to kinetic energy to be the most elegant part of watching these sculptures.
@CliveAtFive It really just depends. Sure, copper probably eats a lot of the kinetic energy and that's probably why you can't recover so much height after a drop. You can make small or big loops too that will eat energy differently. When I clearcoat the sculpture it sort of works like a a dry lubricant at first then settles down so to a level of friction. You basically just have to experiment to see what works. There's many factors.
I get here threw videos lookin at a cool ....thing then. WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH THE GOD TALK. The structure seemed abit short to me. Still pretty cool to make those.
@Woofdeath13 John 12:38-40 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? For this cause they could not believe, for that Isaiah said again, He hath blinded their eyes, and he hardened their heart; Lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, And should turn, And I should heal them.
As well, I'm sure you feel better about yourself for pushing your atheist beliefs to every Christian you find so that they can be as happy as you to have found out that God, salvation, and Christianity was all a big waste of time. You are an atheist pusher and you feel like you have done your good deed to set another Christian straight on the world's wisdom. You are proof that the world in its wisdom does not come to know God. Satan is the god of this world and comes as an angel of light.
@mrGcrinkles . 1 Thessalonians 1:9,10 For they themselves report concerning us what manner of entering in we had unto you; and how ye turned unto God from idols, to serve a living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, who delivereth us from the wrath to come.
Joshua 7:19 And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.
@crazyhomiepower It's a very sad and sobering verse. The people were given strict orders not to take any spoils yet Achan did. He knew he was doing wrong but tried to hide it. By the time this verse happened, Joshua already knew what Achan did. Achan tried to hide it and didn't confess until Joshua made him because Joshua already knew it was Achan. Achan died that day and paid dearly for his sin. Why do we do what we shouldn't do and then pay dearly for it? Sadly foolish.
@ollenbergerstudios It is foolish to believe in a little g god. It's not foolish to believe in the true and living God. Here's what the Bible says on that subject: (Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works; There is none that doeth good.) Please turn to Jesus who loves you and can take away sins so that you can be purified and a child of heaven!
@swirlingbrain I grew up in the church. I look back now and realize how ignorant I was. Science explains more and more as humanity progresses. The more science explains the less room there is for a "god." Think about it people used to believe in many separate god's because they didn't understand the science behind the many elements etc. Why should one "true" god be any different?
@ollenbergerstudios Perhaps you didn't understand the reason for the cross or you never turned to Jesus or really weren't saved? The Bible tells us that there is a way that seems right to a man but the ends are the ways of death. When you die we go to one of two places, heaven or hell. Sometimes people lean on science and science lets them down. Ever seen the Darwin awards? Are you really sure you want to trust science for your eternity? Science doesn't always get it right!
@swirlingbrain I know your point of view- there is no need to explain it to me. I've been there- I know your argument. I also know there isn't a point to debating on youtube. You are obviously well enveloped within your christian box. You have no argument without the bible. Your logic is completely and utterly ludicrous. I know you firmly believe what you believe, but that is because you have been socially brainwashed. I'm sure you feel better about yourself for "witnessing" to a non-believer.
@ngwilkum I rarely do commission work anymore. I sometimes sell sculptures like this on ebay. Here lately after my daughter got out of the hospital after Christmas it's been slow getting back into the swing of things. I hope to have another sculpture built soon. In the mean time, you can look on my shapeways account and perhaps purchase the ornament rolling ball sculpture I have for sale there. Thanks for your interest.

ngwilkum 1 month ago
@ngwilkum I rarely do commission work anymore. I sometimes sell sculptures like this on ebay. Here lately after my daughter got out of the hospital after Christmas it's been slow getting back into the swing of things. I hope to have another sculpture built soon. In the mean time, you can look on my shapeways account and perhaps purchase the ornament rolling ball sculpture I have for sale there. Thanks for your interest.

@fartzzzzzzzz It's a very sad and sobering verse. Sadly foolish.

how did you bend and shape the copper wire?
sgentlemanjack112 2 months ago
@sgentlemanjack112 Copper is a soft metal. You can bend it by hand. Check out some of my other videos where I show step-by-step how to build a copper rolling ball sculpture.
