Climate change is a natural phenomena that has been occurring since the Earth was created and will continue long after we are gone. Nothing we do has any effect on it. What the temperature shows, is that there has been no statistically significant increase in temperatures since 1997. That has been proven. The infamous "hockey stick" chart has been thoroughly debunked. It has also been proven that temperatures in the past have been much hotter than they are today, like when the Vikings were growing vineyards in Greenland hundreds of years ago and there was no industry to blame that on.

All of the VW Group's largest-selling brands,bar Audi, are in the top ten for low CO2 emissions.Toyota with nothing sporty in their range are top and Fiat, MINI, Citroen, Hyundai and Peugeot all mostly do super minis

@chrispbits VW's propaganda can tell you anything, they have the Bluemotion which is great but makes up for 6% of VW's models that have the Bluemotion option. ie (Golf, Polo)
VW say ''they'd like to make eco-cars but the demand is low''. The demand is ever increasing but VW also price their Blues way too much which explains the 6%. The thing is that VW doesn't want to make their whole range of cars cleaner like the TDI as it will cost them money. So what VW does is make themselves look green.

VW's current range of bluemotion cars are expensive yes, but then so are most of the other companies eco cars, Its new technology.
The original Prius did huge amounts of damage to the environment before it even hit the road. And if the main computer goes its loads to replace.
The Up! is coming out soon and it has a Bluemotion engine that will cost around the same as the others.

@pendantry If you read my initial post i said "i wonder" it doesn't mean i knew. The Rainbow Warrior III has only been out since august anyway. The version 2 was an old steam ship presumably using coal so my point about pollution still stands.
I don't have all the facts. However i hardly think that VW are to blame for people not buying Bluemotion cars. They are more expensive because its hard to make them. Pretty much the whole car has to be changed so it will be more expensive.

@gamewizard look you can't deny what climate temperature shows, the truth is that the earth is hotter that it was a few years back and there is no natural phenomena that produces this, only the human interaction and our ability to transform energy its what is causing the drastic climate change, so yea climate change is a natural reaction to the human interaction but it being natural does not make it OK, it will still affect us. Better be safe than sorry don't you think?

What the temperature shows, is that there has been no statistically significant increase in temperatures since 1997. That has been proven. The infamous "hockey stick" chart has been thoroughly debunked. It has also been proven that temperatures in the past have been much hotter than they are today, like when the Vikings were growing vineyards in Greenland hundreds of years ago and there was no industry to blame that on.

Temperature changes on Earth coincide with nearly identical temperature changes noted on all the other planets in the solar system so I guess we're somehow responsible for global warming on those planets, too.

Then you're looking in the wrong places because I've been to England and outside the big cities there are still places that are largely undeveloped. Acres and acres of farmland and forest. You're trying to spread a false tale of woe to someone who knows better. Take a trip outside Greater London, Manchester, Birmingham or Liverpool and you'll see there's still a lot of nice places left in your country. You can find huge areas just by Google maps.

Focussing on Co2 is shortsighted. Diesels produce less Co2 than a Petrol equivilent but the other chemicals in Diesel soot are far more harmful to the environment (and people!) than the byproduct of diesel ignition.
As for opposing draconian knee jerk laws which will put thousands of peoples job at risk. Well I can't say I disagree with the manufacturers sentiment
There are better/more sustainable ways to reduce vehicle pollution that should be explored. Without trying to guilt people!

Because VW are lower emissions and engine sizes across all models, introducing hybrids etc. and don't want to have to reinvest billions they have already invested, and allow Asian manufacturers to seize the European market share of the automotive industry, means they're using a deathray to destroy earth.

I wonder if greenpeace have actually considered the size of the 'so called' carbon footprint they have made in producing this video:- i.e. the amount of planet killing electricity they used. The manufacturing processes and 'killer' chemicals used in making the plastic costumes.

My 2008 VW Jetta only consumes 4.8 litres per 100 km (which is 49 mpg). I think this is a reasonable value! I don't know why Greenpeace is against VW - the others are much worse...
