  • @Thekitty0706fan I believe that was taken during tanner crab season the year before

  • Will someone tell me who Gary Edwards is and what picture is it that hes ship is in

  • I would gladly never eat another crab again if it would bring back all those lost at sea. Just watched the "Big Valley" on an episode of Deadliest Catch and whats ironic is Captain Gary Edwards was the one who was showing how the distress beacon works in cae a ship goes down. RIP to those who lost their lives at sea.

  • R.I.P

  • 1/15/95 r.i.p father.

  • Where did you get all these pictures?

  • R.I.P to all the crews who died and to all the boats that perished with them

  • R.I.P

  • Title fail.

  • @azmi12345 Not even close. just like crab fishermen don't have nearly the most dangerous job. I have been in the Bering Sea dozens of times. First on a 230 Ft. round bottom ice breaker on patrol. Then on many merchant ships on our way to and from the orient. The Gulf of Alaska is where the REAL storms are! A coal miner is statistically the most dangerous career and a longshoreman is the second most dangerous.

  • God speed gentlemen

  • what do they do with the remains of the ship, just let them rust away?

  • @crazietraindude If they are salvagable, they'll tow it into port and start working on them. If they aren't, they will strip her of the fuel, oil, and anything that is hazardous to the environment. In some cases scrap it and tow it to open waters and sink her in thousands of feet of water.

  • GARY GARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • STOP SLIDE SHOWS ON YOU TUBE! post these on Flicker!!!

  • my father was a crab fishermen when i was growing up and i have worked on crab boats as well and i have nothing but the most respect for everybody out there working in the bering sea.. but i have seen the big valley and for some reason that vessal always gave me the creeps.... and i once said to someone that there would be no amount of money they could give me to work on her.... R.I.P. to the crew of the big valley....

  • @camstildrivin80 wow, that's heavy

  • @camstildrivin80 Was there any specific reason the Big Valley gave you the creeps? Something you can explain maybe? Or just one of those feelings? Hope I don't sound rude, I'm just curious is all.. :\ thnx

  • @jkr2680 i cant really say that there was a specific reason she gave me that feeling.... but when i first seen her i got goose bumps and just a bad feeling.... all the vessels i have seen prior and after and still to this day have never gave me that feeling.... and you did not sound rude at all...

  • gary u your crew and phil are probs crab fishin in haven rip

  • RIP all you brave guys. you all deserve to be remembered.

    ''fullybum — 16 June 2007 — the big valley lost 2mens 3deads and 1surviver''

Skipper Gary Edwards, Danny Vermeersch, Josias Luna, Aaron Marrs and Carlos Rivera perished. Cache Seel survived.

  • Outstanding video! Do the vessels on beaches get recovered? I want one. LOL

  • where is this place?

  • Alaska, cold and unforgiving

  • I wonder what % of wrecks are due to mechanical malfunction vs. weather?

  • @cksilverado1 i think human error has a higher %

  • I have to disagree with you.

My money is that most mechanical malfunctions (not related to human error) or bad weather; take more ships and lives than anything caused by human error.

    These guys are pretty good.

  • @cksilverado1 and pretty gay...thats what been said... only sailors use condoms lol jk

dude, mechanical malfunctions is human error, who do you think manufactured the machine that caused a mechanical fuckup?

  • "...mechanical malfunctions is..." ? That's just bad grammar.

Why consider every mechanical failure, a human failure? Just because we produced it? You seem so unwilling to blame rough seas for sinkings! Evil boats spewing evil toxins in our seas and killing all the fisheeeeeees! Sushi!

  • what boat is that at 6 seconds that sits up during low tide and goes under at high?

  • 1:32....

  • YES IT IS

  • just hope in season 5 of deadliest catch no more ships end up like tht

  • np,if you were talking to me :D ill ever love american star it will have an place in my heart forever

  • same here!

  • the boat at 1:24 impressed and changed my life

  • thx for explaining so clearly.

  • that boat the stari gavin? it went down last year here in oregon the skipper is in prison on manslaughter charges

  • what happened for him to get manslaughter charges? Almost the same thing happened where i live when a boat went down, all the crewman sued the captain for not having proper safety gear aboard, and the flaws in the ships design

  • its one of the most dangerous, unfortunatly some of the guys that fish there are too brave for their own safety. Accidents at sea can happen so easily, best way to survive is to wear your lifejacket and a lot of clothes under your oil skins. Keeps you afloat and gives you a bit more time before you die from Hypothermia.

    Rest Easy in calm seas!

  • this is all i want to do.. deck hand on one of these boats...

its just looks fun but its me =/

  • O hail the honorable dead!

  • I hope that gary and his big valley crew will rest in peace!

    we love you guys!

  • @rastagirl82 omg i aggree... i shed a tear for all lost at sea trying to support their families at home. They are brave men and now I understand what it is to be a man... brave souls rest in peace!!!! :(

  • bless the souls of the men that were brave enough to fish on the bering sea

  • sad:(

  • R.I.P Gary Edwards and the Crew of the F/V big valley

  • Respect the sea... For if you challenge her she will smite you with all her power.

  • sourman your a coward who is deeply envious of these brave men and women.so what they make money fast? they deserve there money for there super-human effort. DONT DISRESPECT THE DEAD.

  • Why so sour, man??? I only know of one who has a criminal record, that being the guy on the Northwestern, and he's trying to clean up his act and its nice of Sig to give him that opportunity, as many people wouldn't. People are dying and all you can do is criticize. I doubt you would talk that way if it was YOUR father, or brother, or son, daughter, sister etc who died on a crab boat! You make me sick!

To all the families of those lost at sea and elsewhere...you have my sympathies...

  • You, are a complete arse.

I suggest rather than judging these men, you get your sorry behind up to Dutch Harbor and find a job on a crab boat. We'll see what kind of a loser you turn out to be.

And as for having nuts (which you can't even spell) I sincerely doubt you have any.

God bless all those who have lost their lives, and God comfort their families.

  • your a dick, plain and simple, the world would be a better place with a few more less of you around...

  • this is what i do and i love it.

you wish u had the chance.

  • dont challeng the bearing sea. she can be unforgiving. RIP to all who have been lost on that unforgiving sea

  • hey this is the song for the perfect storm

  • r.i.p the mems form the Big valley the only surviver was Cash Seal =(

  • The count came back for the Big Valley on an episode about a week ago. The two men that were counted as lost were found, in survival suits. They... they didn't make it. So the death toll is five, and only one survivor. Death stops for no one, and I hope that the poor families can put the pieces back together of their shattered lives. I cried when I found out, and only the gods know how the families felt. My heart goes out to them.

  • sour man of coal, i suggest you find a rather large tree to hug...this is not a enviromental issue of who is ruining what! god speed to the family of perished love ones...AND boy of coal, best run along im sure you have papers to deliver somewhere and your lil bowl of mac and cheese is growing cold cupcake.!!!

  • Truly heartbreaking thinking of those wonderful guys who were loss. Bless their souls. What song is that playing?

  • coming home from the sea - James Horner

it's in the Perfect Storm soundtrack

  • Luv I hear ya.. These men put their lives on the line every year for something they love. Love hate, for the most part.

  • Eventually those wrecks will be salvaged or become artificial reefs for marine life.

  • wtf, those freaks dont even have the resources to pull that metal junk out of there? shame, they're ruining the environment!!!!!!!!

  • The grounded boat's that arn't salvaged are beat to sh** by the weather and "go away". "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust". There was alot of really good men on those boats that went out and didn't come back. Some I called friends.

  • Sour man,

Pull your head out of your ass. Alot of those "freaks" didnt come back and left loved ones behind. Regardless of how fucked your political beliefs are your moral compass should at least be normal enough to have some respect. Of course the ships are salvaged the fed govt wouldnt allow pollution like that and nobody would leave that much salvage metal laying on the beach.

  • You know what?! You are the freak here! These men are risking their lives to put food on YOUR table, and you are just a piece of ungrateful dog crap! These men DIED, and yes I know the environment is kinda messed up now, but that still doesn't give you an excuse! Those men had families! They are still grieving, so don't hurt them any more. Those were good men, and you are insulting them by not respecting them or their families. Respect the dead.

  • This wasn't meant to be said to the maker of this video. The maker was a very nice person to do this for everyone. This was meant for another comment that apparently got taken off. God bless the dead.
