this is the best Sabbath cover I've ever heard!!!! Being a huge Sabbath fan I'm very critical and I get bored of all the doom bands covering them. This is fresh and exciting and it takes the song out of its natural habitat without it losing its soul.

The change has started earlier with Perdition City and Blood Inside albums, but I guess whit this record they reach some higher levels. The old folk influented black metal stuff was great but there are many bands in Noth-Europe play folk inspirated black metal. However the nowday Ulver is completely different from anything else. Garm and his bandmates made something amazing and matchless.

Garm is one of my favorite vocalists for all his styles and pitches but in this album he's barely even trying.

'Shadows of the Sun' are one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard in music. Listening to it is like laying on the empty opening in the mountain valley in the middle of the tranquil summer night below the starry sky and contemplating your life. Maybe Ulver had recorded better albums, maybe there are sort of similar releases but for me no other album relax and cleanse me as 'Shadows...' does. And that's why it is a masterpiece of art.
