  • RAAAWWWW

  • Beast

  • what region did you compete in?

  • Region 21, Area C

  • my high school just got those kind of tubas. they are so fantastic!!! what kind of mouthpiece do you use?

  • Miraphone TU21

  • did you make all region or all state band?

  • @ftbllpnchr

    Both.

  • good job man. all the notes are there but just because its an etude don't mean you can't make more music out of it. slow sections were very melodic but not so much the fast. it is harder to phrase when you play fast but when you do people will be impressed

  • good shit. join a marching band.

  • great job man

  • Thanks a lot.

  • nice playing dude.

  • Thanks man.

  • Very nice playing. I have a couple of questions though and you can probably answer them. From what I can tell the tuba you're using is a Miraphone 186 Bb? I'm wondering what's the highest note you can play with a good solid sound. And also, when you play high (above the staff), does your airstream go upwards or down?

  • Thank you and yes its a 186Bb. Back around this time when I played this piece I could probably play an Eb above the staff(but not for extended periods of time), lol. When I play higher notes my airstream tends to go down naturally which usually helps me with the higher pitches.

  • I see! Well thanks for the info, and can you tell me what kind of mouthpiece you were using in the vid? I'm sort of interested to know. Maybe a Helleberg or Bach?

  • Haha, almost. Its a Miraphone TU21.

  • not bad, But not perfect either, I'm a ninth grader soon to be a tenth grader. Just work on tone, clarity of notes, and intervals, and a little bit more stuff. What number are you in your state? and what grade are you going into and what grade were you in here? lol

  • Lol haha, I was in the 11th grade Zac. I'm about to be a Freshman in college now.

    And thanks for the response.

  • wow, awesome! Yeah I loved that piece, ever heard the piece Haddad Suite for tuba? I'm working on the 1st and 3rd movements, I got the 3rd movement nearly perfect in only, well I've practiced since Monday, and haven't started on the 1st yet. Anyway yeah, you're majoring in music right?

  • Yeah, the Haddad Suite is pretty awesome.

But no, I'll most likely major in Political Science or something similar to it.

  • hmm I see, the horn in your video what type of horn is it? and is it yours?

  • It's a Miraphone 186 bought by the school.

I should invest in my own horn to keep my chops up over the years since I'm not majoring in music though...

  • Wow, you went to one rich school, to be able to buy a Miraphone. I have my own horn, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE its a Miraphone 1291 5valve CC horn. Its an amazing horn. I'm so happy and blessed to have it.

  • Yaya! You weren't kidding when you said you were quite the little Mozart! I am impressed!

  • shit payton!!! ITS BEN I SAT NEXT TO YOU AT STATE!!! YOU'RE THE YOUTUBE GUY!!!

  • LoL, aww man! That's hilarious!

  • thanks! next year me and my euphonium friend and my percussionist sister are gonna try out for the blue knights or the vanguard

  • yeah-mathew- the 3rd chair from ep tried for the bk in JANUARY and the only reason he got to try out so late is cause he told them he was a texas all-stater

  • Dude, you sound great! I've never heard anyone play a tuba etude!! Who knew that the tube could play that fast and high? Thanks for posting.

  • very nice- if you are still in high school i'll be thrilled to meet you when i go to san antonio!

  • Thanks. And yes I'm in high school and I will be attending the convention once again in San Antonio..Hope 2 see you there!
