  • Una de las mejores canciones de Santana!

  • YES!

  • @1951Skylark Amazing!

  • So smooth, so cool and so flowing.

  • This

Song was callled "the way you do to me".It was then called "Treat" on Santana, the LP,and Michael Shrieve wrote it.

  • I wish I could hear this with CarlosSantana edited out

  • @15867928 mmmmh Santana hater, funny dude but `this`wouldn't be the same without Carlos, you would like to shut the dialogue between Santana and Rollie at the end? yeah right, and the guitar solo mmmh go figure.

  • Comment removed

  • @willmercury have no idea about why I should shut up-mercury is liquid... I don´t want you to shut up for no reason,so why should I? If you are written in stone so be it.I do not care-I care about SANTANA THOUGH,and I will be a fan although I have told Carlos about the way to handle the death of the pope in South America . One time..I have recieved so much from Carlos and his Bands-musically and sometimes in words.

  • @15867928 how many albums do you have out !

  • by far..THE best line-up Santana had

  • @dragonslayers118

    Absolutely!!!

  • so deep, you can feel sensation like oh my god

this song can fly through your body

  • Splendid!!! Bravo!!!

  • The '60s were a leap in human consciousness. Mahatma Gandhi, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Che Guevara, Mother Teresa, they led a revolution of conscience. The Beatles, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix created revolution and evolution themes. The music was like Dalí, with many colors and revolutionary ways. The youth of today must go there to find themselves."

    — Carlos Santana

  • I love this. It was a blessing to have lived those days. I believe I heard this first in 1969. A beautiful woman turned me on to it. This was one of my favorite songs on the LP. It is so wonderful to have this video of a live performance.

  • I love this. It was a blessing to have lived those days.

  • One of the bands Greatest Hits, and yes under rated.

  • Awesome!! Bellissimo!

  • UNDER RATED!

  • Greg Rolie is like a mad scientist on the keyboard!

  • I was blessed to see them live and was a teen when they were in their prime,,such and great great band.

  • Just perfect, born in 73 myself but was there in spirit!

  • This is music, the whole era frm 60's through the 70s was the age of music created by effort of one's will. Skill! whole lives spent mastering one instrument. such music isnt made easily. makes me wish i could go back in time...

  • @shadeslayer16061991 Skill is the reward of passion and dedication. I hope, someday, I'll be able to manage myself to master the acoustic guitar (i.e., classical and/or flamenco). Greetings, friend

  • JAJAJAJJA SANTANA....VIAJANDO .....40 ANOS MAS TARDE BRUTAL

  • .....FANTASTIC.......

  • Que sincronizacion en el minuto 3:14.... wow i like it

  • its so clean!!

  • que nitidez,adoro Santana !!

  • Comment removed

  • santana is gooddddddddddddddddddddddddd

  • Not only did Carlos inspire me it made me want to play Piano too so I did, and Drums and Bass. A Musician who loves music will play as many instruments as they can.

  • Cool

  • real musicians playing real instruments...before synthesizers took over!!!

  • Why the days were the days.

  • gregg rollie rippin' those keys

  • @drumsofthunder32 He sure is!!

  • @drumsofthunder32 He sure is!! this is a great blues song.

  • @GreedyNoobLike I completely agree about what music can evoke in one's soul but I would like to point out one thing. You say you're nostalgic about the music from the era but not the social aspects but you can't have one without the other. The music of this era did not come out of a vacuum but was a product of the social environment of the time. Without the social context of the era, none of this music would have been born and is what fueled so many great artists including Santana to create.

  • puro santana 13LSY-QUE ESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GOOD!

  • fuck yeah! this is great!

  • Carlos Santana plays guitar with so much feeling.

  • @onasugol Feeling ,because that is him talking to us

  • eleven tone deaf zombies..............let us bow down our heads and pray for them in the temple of santanismo.............

  • Amen!

  • Excellent composition and band!!! and Santana!!!!

  • This has always been my favorite, imagine surfing a head high glassy sunset wave when he breaks into the solo...santana has a grace. and this shows in this song, the band gets settled, the keyboard solo at the beginning really sets the song and then

Carlos comes in a quarter of the way in ... Miles Davis studied boxing and music and this song understands the idea of "the attack" and the restrain, sorry for the long wind but music today can learn from this song..restrain then attack.

  • Nice! I saw them live in 1980, 1981...

  • I was fortunate to see them September 1970. The concert was fantastic and is etched in my memory. They played from their first album, Abraxas and introduced material from their third album. This video features the original 6 band members of the first 3 albums: Carlos Santana-guitar, Greg Rolie-keyboards, Michael Shrieve-drums, David Brown-bass, Michael Carabello-congas and Jose "Chepito" Areas-timbales.

  • @roy111255 It was great that you got to see the original members in concert during the band's early days. I had the chance to see them when they came to Fresno in November 1971 but I missed out on a great concert...gerrrrr.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG THIS IS LATIN JAZZ OF THE BEST!!!!

  • si pero era david marsden en bateria

  • @belyaira Michael Shrieve

  • ripp005 pheesh my phriend phish...santanas the man regardless

  • WoW, i bet Santana and his band had no idea how original they were sounding 40 years ago. I think the most of the Hippie generation thought the kind of music, which was popular back those days would last until the end of times.

I'm so young but feel nostalgic towards an age 40 years ago(musically not socially), strange feelings music can evoke in the depths of ones soul.

  • @GreedyNoobLike Exactly - I felt incredible music like this would last forever, and in fact I felt it would just continue to evolve. Sadly, we seemed to have done a u-turn around 1980 or so and headed south. But I still have all these tunes from these great groups and solo artists from back then to keep me quite happy....!

  • @GreedyNoobLike

you are right, those Artist were way ahead of time,& it has come full circle, the don't call him the Super Natural for know reason at all. I saw him in 72 15 yr's old, great great

  • @GreedyNoobLike guess what?. there is thousands of fans, that we go his concerts (he tours every year) is full of young people, i think he still knows, that he still original. iam an old dude an still searching for his works

  • @GreedyNoobLike

Oh we knew that this music would last the ages!

  • @Kurtkristian Absolutely

  • Went to see him play at Newcastle arena last weekend...the whole place was on their feet.... it was a spiritual experience..

    Peace.

  • An American Masterpiece, the tide of change and the war with notes.

    Those are bullets of history.

  • Carlos with an SG.

  • No one can play the guitar like Carlos.

  • Amazing!! This cat never ceases to amaze me! Thank You!! TheOutlawBluesman

  • this is sooo good - have no words.

    and carlos was beautiful

  • Best Santana song ever.

  • Anyone see a resemblance to late 70s early 80s George Harrison? :P

  • its hard to believe that Gregg Rolie would go on to form Journey just a few short years after penning this great jam

  • @mfcallaha ...I belive it is Michael Sh

    rieve who penned this...

  • @69MC97gc - The entire band is given writing credits on a handful of songs on this album, including "Treat." That is: Areas, Brown, Carabello, Rolie, Santana, and Shrieve, credited as "Santana Band."

  • @mfcallaha I know they are all given credit. It had to do with copyrights and money. It was easier and also in their contract. But This one is Mike.As Waiting is Brown and Carabello---and Shades of Time is much Chepito and Gregg.

  • @69MC97gc Great story, compelling and rich. We are all enlightened and challenged by your point of view.

  • Magnifico musica!!! Me amore mucho grande. Gracias !!!

  • Great song, performed by truly great group........ too bad Carlos has been reduced to a narcissistic, racist, asshole that plays poorly, has a shit band and is now nothing more than a greedy, politically ignorant, shoe designing prick.

  • @sitarro55555 most people that come from mexico are greedy when they get here

and wont share a damn thing cause they didnt have nothing when they were down there..so i completely agree

  • Great to hear and see this old video. Santana and the band at their finest!

  • The "Santana Secret Chord Progression"!!! as described by Zappa...

  • @douzilles Shut up and play yer guitar!

  • this tune builds up wonderfully

  • back in 72 when i first heard this ... i was totally jazzed with it!

  • Gregg Roliie and Mike Shrieve-Yeah-Carlos sure but it is a Rolie-Shrieve composition.

  • @69MC97gc well most of hendrix great songs were covers

  • Enjoy.

  • mmmmhhh....

    gooze pimples...

  • how can 11 people not like this, it's absolutely sublime.

  • @carlios The same one voted 11 times lol

  • I've got this exact version on a compilation video......anybody know where this was shot? BTW....sublime....what more can you say...??

  • sensacional!

  • Awesome performance from an incredible Love this! group! Great keyboardist, drums, and the legendary Santana.

  • I think that this is the best song in the world! Not like all this firelies shit or so! It's the ethnic kind of music. It tells you so much about the feelings and thoughts Carlos Santana had when he wrote this beautiful song. Besides it's played by such talented guys you can't tell me it'snot a good song!

  • @insuffizientebesserw

i agree with you 1000%! Santana rocks, no doubt about it!

  • Santana Band******

  • Good Lord, Greg Rolie is good on the keys!

Shame this was shortened so much.

  • @hskrfnatic I had the original album, it wasn't shortened. but it should have been longer!

  • playing oranges

  • anybody know wehre i can find other songs from this session?

  • Oh. My goodness.

    A lost art almost....

    How fucking good.

  • I LOVE THE PIANO.

  • this is such a soulful groovy little tune... just takes you on a trip and comes full circle. amazing.

  • Hi boys and girls,

there you can investigate the influence and master style of hungarian guitar master,G A B O R SZ A B O,who was the composer of Gypsy Queen song, from which Santana took the Black Magic Women.

Santana himselves says that Szabo was his first big idol, and hes the very big fan of Szabos tune, style and master manners.

Look for Gabor Szabo in youtube for fantastic jazzy guitar.

    JS

  • @japansogun

Actually JS, if you check the album Abraxas, which Black Magic Woman comes from, you will that it leads into Gypsy Queen. The title of that song is, literally, Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen.

  • one of the best and prettiest songs santana ever made! i don't care what anybody says, santana ROCKS!

  • great song to jam too♥

  • Greg Rollie started Journey, and Niel Schon was also in Santana for a time

  • i cant even image what i would be like if these guys would have stuck together, the original band was by far the most complete and talented group of musicians. its too bad they parted ways. if only just!

  • @thehitman000 bands often change members, but believe me they only got better! i oughto know, i had every album they ever made!

  • anyone know the name of this tune?????????

    kicks assss!!!

  • @thehitman000 Duh, how did you type it in, and not know the name? It's called 'Treat'.

  • THX RP50

  • michael is on drums not on piano...

  • who's the guy on the piano..

  • Gregg Rolie

  • @FloppyDos The name of the guy on the piano is Greg Rollie, i think.-

  • @rimula01

Thx, i like his jazzy style bigtime. Great play without steeling the show from Santana.

Which is the drummer's name, he is the same woodstock drummer

  • I think it is called Graam lear. but I do not know if he is the drummer of woodstock. what is certain is that it is a good drummer

  • fantastic tune can it be found on cd ?

  • @darwindunn

On Santana's first album, the one with the Lion on the front....you;ll find it on the B side, the second track..

  • I used to have this on VHS. Love it!!

  • Nobody starts a mellow tune, rocks it out, then brings it back to a mellow groove like Santana. Excellent!

  • Greg Rolie (who later would play with Journey) I believe is the piano player. The percussionist playing the maracas is the legendary Jose Chepito Areas. Damn could Carlos play at a young age!

  • Great - thx - 5* ;-))

  • At that time (1970) of music, now (2010) sounds do not get old~this is a levle of music !

  • Is this concert available on DVD?

  • I will say this again -an american masterpiece.

  • THIS SONG IS SO CLIMATIC!!!

  • This song reminds me of days just walking through the mission checking out the pretty girls, seeing the gritty streets, watching old ladies do their shopping. I miss those days. We had our little community and it was beautiful.

  • Santana es un genio, saludos del Perú.

  • Such a great song. One of the best for sure.

  • What Carlos did in his early stages was amazing a mix of latin beats whit a heavy dose of rock....his adaptation to decades of changes is what keep him going to this days. SANTANA is whitout a doubt a true American rock icon that will live for a long time to come!!!

  • My favourite Santana Song definetely. Amazing. Some of the pearls that haven't been yet discovered by the masses (or by the promoters).

  • definitely my favorite santana song, along with the original band members, who were at woodstock......

  • The Piano and the Drums and the Guitar are a powerfull symbol of music-the african bass is the crowning achievement! VICTORY 2010!!!

  • Search for "Abraxaos" a great Santana Tribute Band

  • ha, santana looks like tony iommi here. he even has the SG!

  • il fait parler la guitarre bravo santana!
