@ocean0explorer Nah, it's not just you. The player's reach seems to be a bit less than the jump height, so you have to make sure that the cube is high enough to grab. Just hoisting yourself onto the ledge isn't quite enough.

If you can't duck and pick the cube up from over the ledge, try stacking another camera under the cube to boost it up a bit higher.

@WilbosWorld I didn't know about it when I made this video. For that matter, I'm not sure that anyone knew about it considering how new the game was at the time (this video was made a couple of days after the game came out). :) To the best of my knowledge, the method that I used in the video is the only way to solve the puzzle like this without using exploits (i.e. boosting with the cube or portal bumping).

That said, I portal bump this chamber now. Going through it legitimately is such a drag.

the freaking cube falls on me, can't do it. It's really hard to do it, not the climb up but to take the cube with you too. It would help if there was a portal-able wall near the incinerator.

@luckytrifle In my experience, as long as you can jump to the ledge from the cube it'll work. Sometimes it does take a little bit of fiddling, though (i.e. crouch as close to the edge as possible and spam 'use' while moving your view around until you pick up the cube), so give that a go. Also, lately I've been stacking the cameras more vertically rather than throwing them in a pile.

ive acutally noticed valve put in some energy field or something up top the ledge so you dont accidentally throw the cube up there and not be able to get it back when u dont have all 3 platforms up

the "energy field" thing throws the cube backwards off the ledge if it goes up there, so even if i use the side wall to walljump up, i cant take my cube with me :(

You can do it faster, at 0:40, the window on your left. Portal bump under it (place a portal next to it, and place another portal left of your first portal and it will bump into the button room). :D Nice video though, i like this better cause it doesn't use any bugs.

It was said in Test Chamber 14's commentary that Valve directly kept alternate solutions were it is possible to skip a puzzle, if it requires at least as much skill or thinking as completing the test normally. I guess this is one of them.

Testchamber 14, where that commentary node is. You can skip the entire level by portal-flinging to the elevator-platform. It is, however, more tricky than a normal fling. Also, there are more, such solutions of much less magnitude. For an instance, in testchambers where you need two cubes on two buttons to open a door, you can do it with a single cube, and use yourself to push the other button and then shoot a portal through tthe open door.

nice video. another awsome glitch is use the code sv_cheats 1 in the devoloper console then use ent_create_portal_weight_box and it wil creat a weighted storage cub and you can drop that cube into the fire instead of your companian cube and the game will keep going on as normal. i love my cubey <3
