  • WHAT? hundred bucks!!!! Down here in korea i got 8gb of ram for 70 bucks.

  • I just ordered 16GB hmm... maybe i should of got 4 with all these pro's

  • i have 8 gbs

  • the maximum is 16gb

  • I have 12 gigs of ram lol

  • the new mac pro can have up to 64 freeking gbs!

  • @ackboy6 New? You mean the 2010 model? It can have 96 GB. OWC sells that kit.

  • Tell your sister i eat babies.

  • i saw on an alienware m18x you can get up to 32 gigs of ram but i dont really believe it but it was on the custimization screen

  • The maximum Ram you can have in the early 2008 macbook pros is 6GB but Apple recommends 4GB

  • 16GB. shipped with it and might upgrade

  • My new 2011 macbook i maxed it out at 16 gb.

  • i thought i saw a pc with 9 gb of ram on bestbuy before

  • congrats man

  • i have 16 gigs on a PC and i will never change. HAHAH macs suck

  • 8GB.

  • i have 4000 mb of ram

  • mine has 8

  • i let my mom use my laptop with 256mb and i use my desktop (pc) with i think 718, i use to have 512 but my friend at a computer shop gave me a 256 stick of ram

  • 4GB is definately more than enough for XP(32 Bit) users because it doesn't support more than 3.5GB but I always wonder if it can cause any damage to memory stick modules by neglecting the use of 0.5 GB of memory.

  • @ThePakiSami As far as I know it will damage the motherboard.

  • I have 8 gigs of DDR3 with 1333MHz :)

  • i have 256 mb

  • @strickmans

    You Win!

  • love the fact that he mentions no cons in this video!!! and 2GB for me

  • 4gigs here

  • @Forget00 lol...

  • @Forget00 well now i know your lying because mac os and windows 7 only support up to 24

  • @Forget00 yea...gj? you will load pages the same as someone with 3 gb...loading web pages is not based off ram. This proves my point that mac users are idiots

  • lol in my pc i have 256MB of ram lol and 3-4GB in laptop :)

  • there are cons of more RAM? Trippy. Probably just cost more. I wish I had more RAM. We always will. We'll always want more. And then we die.

  • Lol what? 100 bucks for 2 gb...wow

    i have 12 in my comp :O

  • i had a friend of my to re-install windows cuz for some reason the OS was gone (LOL) and when he was done with all the drivers n shit, he saw that only 1 RAM memory-card-thing was activated so he activated the other one with 2 GB of RAM more = now i have 5gb RAM and my computer is slower than ever cuz he installed windows XP 32-bits :P

  • fake and gay

  • @DickKnowsBest you are.

  • @DickKnowsBest and your a piece of shit lier, with also no life. troller. i bet your fat to. do you keep chicken under your bed fatty?

  • @DickKnowsBest I will NOT justify myself to you. I dont need a "source" i just know im right.

  • @DickKnowsBest My computer is a year old. Yours obviously isn't.

  • Iphone 4 is 400mhz. end of fuckin story.

  • @DickKnowsBest lol weetard, its 400mhz

  • i have 809 mb of ram but im getting 4 gb in like 2 days :P

  • i got 1 gb of ram

  • oh men 4gb thst freeky fast men i have a desk top men ihave 2gb ram 1gb video card 2.88amd processor

  • cool congrats on the baby

  • Cons? What kind of cons could you possibly have from a ram upgrade?

  • so if i buy a macbook pro .. with 4gigs.. i can buy four more somewhere else? cuz its an extra 540 dollars on the apple store

  • @jjfacundo1 I don't know how much you already know, so I'll start at ground zero. There are TWO slots for Ram in the new macbook pro (2x1GB at first -so right away both slots are used up). For a 2x2GB (4 gig)upgrade again both slots are used up, ergo you can't add anymore ram on the boat. You want 8 gigs of ram, but to do that you'll need 2x4. And likewise to get 6 gigs ram; you'll need 4 gigs for one slot and 2 gigs for the other.

  • awesome thanks

  • @jjfacundo1

Noz!! It weel voyd ur warrantie, and meen apple dude weel cum to u and beat ze extra $440 out of u!!!

  • I Got 8gb Ram and Really nice for Gaming :)

  • And where are the cons?

  • i have 224mb ram, its pretty slow! :(

im planning to upgrade to 448mb.

  • lol, the iphone has more ram than that.

  • @CoolsPlosed Some how I doubt that.

  • @S4M10L4

    Look it up, retard.

Iphone 3GS has a 650mhz processor and 256 MB ram.

  • good luck with being an uncle

  • maybe the only CON for 4gb ram was to watch this stupid video.

  • be warned its really easy to bend the bottom of the macbook pro, i just installed 4gb of ram on my new macbook pro 13 inch, i got frustrated with the last screw and figured if i wiggled the bottom a little it would come off, i was wrong it bent like a soda can, but its my fault just wanted to post that, but the ram runs fine found 4gb on amazon for 75 bucks.

  • @darintaylor79 I always wondered if that would happen... good to know.

  • Wow, mac books need some much to run. I have 128 ram and it runs fine. (XP)

  • Not true, 2GB is good enough. You'll need more if you're a heavy user of different applications, photoshop, and heavy graphics games.

  • Really? I'm running xp and have 128 mb of ram. I have internet, I can program in C++, VB, and Java and it runs fine. I can play halo 1, and halo 2 on xeon. I can run teamviewer without lagging. I guess macs aren't as good as they say.

  • lol the mac pro can take 32GB of RAM

  • so can a pc :)

  • awesome:D

  • i thought the limit was 2gb for macbook pro ?

  • maximum i think is 8GB. Correct me if im wrong

  • This is why I have abandoned laptops. I have a cheap netbook for mobile use, but I greatly prefer my fire-breathing desktop with its 10gb of DDR3 RAM... and 2 huge monitors (I'd really like 4 monitors... but I'll have to get a quadro graphics card and two articulated arms to hang the other two from the wall.)

  • @Hydro3232 your wrong

  • @Hydro3232 maximum is 24gb of ddr3 ( dont think you can get regular ddr5 )

  • @Hydro3232 Maximum you can i have is 32GB. In the Mac Pro configuration you can set it up to that.

  • @Hydro3232 Theoretical max for a 64 bit os is 128Gb

  • @Andyterranbase1 wrong, the highest theoretical memory you can get for a 64 bit OS is 196GB of ram.

  • @tchunu you should recheck those numbers

  • @Andyterranbase1 Nope, it's right.

  • @tchunu for one it depends on the os and two you should still recheck your numbers before someone else does

  • @Hydro3232 OS X supports far more RAM then that.

  • @TheAustinHowell Yes, I know. I made this comment a year ago. I'm aware that you can put a lot more. The Mac Pro has the ability to put 32gb but I'm pretty sure you can put more.

  • @Hydro3232 on imac 16 is available

  • @Hydro3232 4gb for 32 bit , only 3.2 will be used thouhg

    128 gigs for 64 bit

  • @Hydro3232 actually 12 is maximum i think

  • @Hydro3232 24GB or 48 for dual xeons

  • @Hydro3232 I added a 8gig notice the battery last a lot less. How can I fix this? Buy a new better battery?

  • @JongaLife I'm not quite sure if they sell 'better' batteries for laptops, try checking online for batteries specific for your laptop. If your laptop battery is old, that could be causing the short battery life. Maybe it was just a coincidence that when you upgraded to 8gbs, your battery started going bad. By the way, I'm only 13 :D

  • @Hydro3232 I saw on CyberPowerPC had 16GB RAM Cards... and a 24GB one!! O_o

  • @Hydro3232 ITS ACTUALLY 16GB

  • @Hydro3232 Your wrong! its 32 or more today. Lol, how old are your comment?

  • RAM stands for Random Access Memory so for the applications that somehow dont want to use or take up space on your hard drive that is where they go, to your RAM So to answer your question YES more RAM makes yur computer faster but it is mainly the Processor speed that that make your computer the speed that it is so if your noticing a major or even minor speed difference you should just upgrade your processor or just get a new computer.................................................

  • My computer can take 2GB max. Pfft. I need a new motherboard

  • 4GB of RAM - The Pros and well... never mind.

  • It amazes me how much more affordable RAM is. It's cool how $100 was a great deal back then while I got it for $54 which is an average deal lol

  • U told us the pros but what about the cons?

  • Jon,if you don't mind, could you review the Acer Aspire One (1gb RAM + 120gb HDD)...i know it's abit old now but from what i've seen it's still a *hot* item which is sold alot. Also if you would reccomend buying and what upgrades should be done on it.Thanks Jon!

P.S. Love your videos, watch them without fail.

  • i have 544mb of ram

  • rofl

  • lol i have 512mb

  • i have 39mb of ram on my windows 95

  • @wolfemancola Really

  • @007ghg7 I have 8192mb of ram. :D

  • @jake5680 i have 480 mb of ram...

  • @007ghg7 503mb.

  • i got 6gb of ram and i am planning to get 8!

  • I have 12GB of RAM and I'm fine with it.

  • SWEET

  • can you upgrade ram on an imac without breaking warranty?

  • yups

  • Apple lets you change your RAM without voiding the warranty.....didnt you read the agree of the Apple Care

  • is there such things as a Fraps for mac?

  • yeah, try screenflow, its far far far far far better than fraps, and can easily record my macbook screen with 1gb ram, at 1200x800, its really really good :)

  • I just got a Hp inspiron :) im happy, it starts with 4 gigs and is upgradable to 8 gig ram.

  • hes got a mac book, but says he can give WINDOWS 2gig. since when did mac have windows

  • let me tell you.mac has a program named "Paralels" .its a windows that runs in mac

  • you a retarded!!! windows can be run via parallels in jons case!!!

  • Yes...Hes the "Retarded" right...haha

  • so u suggest getting the 4gb of ram

  • i had my fourth niece today:P congratz

  • hey jon, do u really recommend the Crucial memory? i'm planning on getting some for my macbook

  • wtf thats crazy

  • dude that's impossible

  • Lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol there is no such thing because you probably only have 4 slots and no ram is like 30 gigs each lol lol lol thats probably your hard drive loooooooooooool

  • your awesome :O

  • my computer has only 64mb of ram :(

  • 70 bucks on ebay, yo

  • what does RAM do more of, Speed up the computer, or allow more applications to run at a time, because i have a macbook with 1 gig of RAM and it runs really fast already but i was thinking about upgrading to 4 gigs

  • i just know the more u have the faster it is

  • The computer writes away data on RAM for a short period of time. It's much faster to hold data on RAM for a short while than write it to the harddrive.

Example: You are using Word, your processing is temporarily stored in the RAM memory, not on the Harddrive for it would be much slower.

The more RAM you have the more your computer is able to process = More RAM = Greater Speed = More Open Apps.

I brought it down to this basic explanation, so don't quote my exact words on this.

  • I got 4g of ram on my macbook from the very beginning so idk how much faster it is lol =P

  • I wanna upgrade My macbook pro .. I just boght it, but people say that apple sells them to expensive... can I find these in normal stores?.. memory....

    ill check ayway... thanks!...

PS: congrats on the new baby!

  • man, just when I got comfy thinking I was up to par with my recent upgrade to 2GB (1GB Kingston stick, $50- DDR, though, hence the slightly higher price), suddenly everyone's upping to 4GB... oh well, congrats on the upgrade (and on becoming an uncle)!

  • I sended a Email to jon4lakers and I dont get a email back . I sended the email like 1 week ago ago.

  • So Crucial RAM is working alright? I mean I've looked at it before and I know Apple's overpriced, but $100 vs. $600 seemed a little too good to be true.
