This season aired in my country no problemo. However, I never realized they changed sexes until recently, when i revisited Sailor Moon. I always thought they were female, undercover as males. Now that I know the truth, it`s actually more awesome :D

@martajaj No, as previous comments already mentioned, the female forms are their true forms. The male bodies were just a disguise (and that was a change from the manga, where they only crossdressed while disguised).

@barilan2008 They are all originally women. On this planet, they evidently can use some kind of magic to disguise themselves as male, and this power actually physically makes them become males.

When they transform, they are becoming their true selves against, which are female.

In the original manga, they were always female 100% of the time, and simply chose to dress like men (the way Uranus sometimes does). The author didn't approve of the anime changing them physically into men.

Especially if they adhered more to the manga (though I wouldn't mind a little more depth and more focus on the action sequences in between the comedy and romantic drama). Seeing all the familiar faces, transformations, and attacks revamped for a new generation would make my life.

The Starlights were my new favorites in the final season, one of the best seasons.

I find it so weird USA refused to air it, yet they now air 'Sex change hospital' on the discovery health channel.

The reason why is because all cartoons even if they have a more mature theme (that is for teenagers and up) are not seen that way by American TV producers / censors. Cartoons are ALWAYS seen as a kids show unless the creators specifically state that it is NOT a kids programme. This is especially true when it comes to stuff like magical girls animes and fantasy based animes.

I would take into consideration when they were planning to air that. I doubt that during the time Sailor Moon was originally running here in the states, Sex Change Hospital would have even gotten air time EITHER. Also, ANIMATION AGE GHETTO. If Sailor Moon were live action and considering 'adult' of course it would have gotten some airtime but because its ANIMATION, its for the KIDS and the kids can't see stuff like THAT. :|

@Monicuhhable I think it's like the age old debate on how making lingerie magazines is provocative instead of maybe I just think the underwear is cute/I want to buy that. XD The series was actually intended for like 15 year olds and up. Plus, the series is definitely made by a woman. She liked the idea of fashion/high heels meets superhero (or something). By this time, maybe she just ran out of ideas or got tired of the skirt concept and played it up? :) I always liked their outfits personally.
