I hear this song on our Satellite Feed at my retail job and I actually thought this song came out in the late 1990s/early 2000s, I have never heard of this song prior to me working at my retail job
i first heard this song on a flight to Los Angeles in 1990 and i completely fell in love with it, listening to this song while in the air and seeing clouds out the window just gives me a wonderful feeling....
Man! Thats the song!!!! No matter wats happened with the world. Just put the song and I ll be ok. Thanks for upload the video. Greetings from Mexico City.
Love the bridge (1:28-1:48), just sounds so good. When I first heard this song, that's what drew me to it, besides the fact that this is just a cool song. Still, I so love this song:)
Again a song with "ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ..." throughout but Tracey Thorn makes the song wonderful. (The "ha"s always drove me insane in Laurie Anderson's "O Superman" back in 1982)
Guitar - Ben Watt Bass Guitar - John Patitucci Drums - Omar Hakim Percussion - Lenny Castro Saxophone [Tenor Saxophone] - Michael Brecker Synthesizer [Synthesisers], Programmed By, Piano - Larry Williams Written-By - Ben Watt
EBTG did a version of this on MTV with Tracey and piano only. I had a bit of it on VHS years ago. I think this song benefits from a sparse arrangement.
I found a record player at a garage sale.Got my 100's of records out of the cupboard. Guess which album gets palyed the most? I cant take it off!!! Its like discovering an old freind.
Tried inviting this band for a concert here in the Philippines where they have a lot of fans. To my dismay Tracy told me that she would love to but I have to talk to Ben first about doing a concert in Manila. Its just sad that they had a bitter separation and Ben is not willing to sing as Everything but the Girl. Ben is willing to go to Manila to perform as a Club DJ and not as EBTG.
I'd like to know how you thought about that because Marta Drury from Swing Out and Tracy Thorne from Everything are two of my favorite singers. I have all their albums and constantly listen to them. The are both great individually and they would make a great team. BTW check out When All's Well from EBTG. It's a great vid, one of their first but still worth watching.
oh wow... twas really good to take a trip down memory lane with YouTube... this song reminds me of my first heartache... the bus was actually playing this one when i was 180 km bound to another city in an effort to forget... music really heals :-)
ETBTG is and has to be one of the best bands I have ever heard. I have been listening to them for 20 plus years and have never tired of Traceys incredible voice. I have seen them in concert twice in Toronto......One of the best live performances I have ever witnessed. I was in Mykonos a few years back on an island beach and had the great fortune to run into Tracey Thorn at the beach bar. Truly an undiscovered treasure Tracey and Ben.
This album and artist are what music is all about! making you forget your troubles and and bonds of the here and now for the places only good music can send you and your heart.
I know I couldn't have made an album like this. No I'm not a musician. I can't carry a tune in a bucket. I meant the themes. Domestic voilence, infidelity and the loss of love to name a few. They make very good music about sensitive subjects
Born - I like thier softer stuff as well. For some more great music, check out sfrost and ryanr168's accts. we walk the same line talk to me like the see and prob a few more you might like
My sister-in-law turned me on to this song. She loves to give me a hummer while this song is playing. Don't tell my wife, but she calls me "lover boy" when my wife isn't around!!
Tracey Thorn has one of the most beautiful voices in modern times. I imagine if you ever catch a glimpse of her bare back, you'd probably see two long scars - definite signs of an angel that descended to earth and sacrificed her wings just to share songs with we mere mortals..... Tracey Thorn is the TRUTH!
One of the very best Albums EBTG ever made 'The Language of Life' is a classic, that song is amazing, everytime I listen to the it I want Tracy to continue doing the "Ha Ha Ha..." thing for another 10 minutes. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you...
This is a very cool song; I was completely blown away when I heard this in early 1990....thanks so much for the post. Now playing on IPOS everywhere!!!!
Don't know if any of you know or knew this, but Michael Brecker played the sax solo on this track. That man was brilliant! Though this is probably EBTG's most commercial release, they had a great roster of musicians who participated. I would wear this CD out!!
Brilliant. There was a nice little jazz pop thing going on in the late 1980s/early 90s with EBTG, The Style Council, Sade, Incognito, etc. This song is from their 1990 release "The Language of Life."
Just had a wonderful experience with a guy 24 years younger than me, I'm 53..thought I'd never feel this way again...if he calls me yes i will come driving as fast as wheels can turn...
Such rare moments you would recall when a song you hear triggers an emotion from the past and suspends the current awareness of your surroundings. Thanks for the post.
What is it about the major european record labels that they can sign artists of this skill and creativity on such a consistent basis. If it weren't for the internet, life as a US music fan would be miserable. I bought this album when it came out and it still blows away 99% of what's coming out.
This brings back some memories. This band was named after a slogan in a furniture shop in Hull. They recorded 'I dont want to talk about it 'a song written by Danny Whitten.
as an african american soul brother this song is a stone jam that means good,i wish radio could have put this on black and brown station but they didnt im glad i heard it on a smoothed jazz station back in the day while kissing and feeling on my lady
