This guy is great. I really agree with his sentiment. When asked why he carried a pistol to a Presidential speech, I would reply, "because I can." It's just that simple. I'm not an anarchist libertarian who believes in the dissolution of government, but I do believe in limited Federal government and the protection of basic individual liberties. Will I vote for Ron Paul in 2012? No. He's utterly incompetent on national security issues. However, I still advocate for a limited Federal government

@dart1285 UM...I raise my voice on a regular basis and speak out against Gov officials in my videos and comments I make online. I have been to events where we clearly spoke out against some of the things certain people in our Gov are doing, so far no one has put a gun in my face. Your example is stupid. Get back to the point, people with mental illness should not own firearms. Anyone with children will probably agree with me as they don't want some loon with a loaded weapon near their family.

The difference between you and me is that I have a brain and can put 2 and 2 together and see the dangers or arming everyone. If a few armed citizens had been there, that number would likely have been a lot smaller. Only a crackpot like Mathews (and you) can't see the fact that such tragic events are good reason to be armed at such events.

Your logic could be applied to many instances of shootings in public places. If citizens could carry the idiots fairing at those unarmed could be put down quickly and effectively end the idiot's shooting spree. I would bet Gifford would have loved if someone attending her speech could have stopped the guy who blasted her in the head or any of the other 17 people shot that day.
