I love them..so much. I can't explain what they do to me when I hear their songs, when I hear Roland's voice and the nostalgic keyboards. I just listen and pray for their long life, for their health and their coming to Brazil. Thank you, Tears for Fears, for the most incredible music and sensation I have ever had in my 21 year old life!
I have a question that I've seen others ask: How can I listen to Tears for Fears' music over and over again, and never get tired of it? I just keep coming back to their music. That has never been true of any other musician(s) for me.
The whole Saturnine album was an amazing treat, a real magical feast for the ears! (ok, that sounded lame) If you liked this song definitely try and pick up the album, well worth whatever you might have to pay on ebay! (probably not very much actually!)
I love this! where did you get all these great pictures?!! and I agree with bascul, Orlando has to be one of the best songwriters! I miss their sound, Orlando has a beautiful and powerful voice! I will always love them! :)
"If I care for nothin, the sun don't shine and the grass don't grow". we could all come up with a meaning for that, and the one i have makes me smile. what other band brings such emotion with them to every song! and to them music wasn't just a business.
Does anyone have the correct lyrics to this song? if so, what does he say after "And if by chance we both forget the passage of space and time between, pick up the pieces cold and wet. . ." It sounds like he says "dry them before the light to clean" but i'm trying to figure out for sure.
This song should have been on the album. it's better than half the album. Very underrated album too.The song would have been even better had Roland gave it more time and changed the sound of the instrumental bridge in the middle of the song. Sounds a little cheezy. otherwise brilliant song.
Wow, what a great song. Never heard before. Thanks for the post and photos. Well done!!
I confess to being a Roland fan becuase his voice just touches something in me. Maybe it is my stage in life. I may be now where he was over 10 years ago (we are about the same age.)
I've never heard this song of theirs so thanks for posting this :) These two are handsome men with masculine yet soft sounding vocals. A rarity of music generation now.
I agree with what you say about there voices, but i have to ad that what i liked and still do is that Roland wrights really smart lyrics. There very interesting to listen to his lyrics are so smart.
The lyrics they write are very smart and intelligent. This is true of they're other song Woman In Chains. The lyrics are heartfelt to most women's feelings and plight!
No feminism meant in the last sentece, just letting you know!!
I never understood why this song was just a B-side and Roland decided to don't put on Elemental.....much better than Brian Wilson said or Gas giants for example!!
This song is not form a film it was an extra track from the "Elemental" recordings and Roland admits he is regretful for leaving the song off the record and I agree with him. It is a fantastic song. Keep in mind that Curt is nowhere on this song. This was recorded when Tears For Fears was Roland Orzabal only.
Curt seems to be a really nice guy.Has a MySpace page and all and communicates with fans. Also if you see the photos,I'm pretty sure he works out! Alas,I love Roland more. No communication from him although hes as beautiful now as he ever was! I wonder does he know the fans he has? (Of course he does)
Thats too bad.Roland should try a Facebook or MySpace like Curt.He could always get out of it.(I guess?) This may be my favorite Roland song, but I say that about alot of them!LOL
About the only thing that Curt keeps out of the spotlight is his daughters. He has photos of his daughters up on his website but I don't think anyone has seen their faces.
@imageryfactory If by "duo" you mean "all the stuff Roland Orzabal did", yes. Orzabal and Oleta Adams, OTOH, are the most underrated duo in the history of music. :P
/not to mention that adams is about the hottest almost-59-yr-old on the planet
The liner notes to Saturnine Marshal & Lunatic say;
"One of the first songs written with Alan Griffiths. It was kept on the back burner for a long time and was eventually released as one of the b-sides to Break It Down Again."
Great, great song. My favourite T4F song by a country mile...
I am so addicted to this song..and I have always loved Tears for Fears..especially Roland..and yes, he is hot!
I was fortunate to watch him at a concert in *98..Unbelievable. Thanks so much for posting...I think I listen to this at least twice daily...can't get enough of good music. *grin
Heard this on Saturnine,Marshall and Lunatic and came looking for a video. I didn't think my heart would hold out up to 43 seconds!!! Wonderful photos. Is Roland really as good looking as I think he is? (I know these photos are old.) Love him in 2008 too!!!!
Apesar do álbum SML ser uma coletânea de b-sides e raridades de várias épocas ele funciona muito bem como um todo e tem IMHO uma sequência fantástica:
Fabulous song. I read somewhere this was the first song Roland completed with Alan Griffiths. A great partnership--very fertile period for Roland. I would have liked it better if this was on "Elemental" instead of "Fish Out of Water" ---I could have lived without that. Also,I love these old pictures with Curt.
Yeah I bought that one too.I loved these guys music since I first heard everybody wants to rule the world when I was like *.These guys rule. Why all the pics of Curt Smith. He wasn't with them when they made this song unless they made it before he left the group before he rejoined them.
Actually it was a bonus track for the single Break it Down again.I remember buying the single and this was on there and a song called Scrogeiner's Cat.I always thought those two songs kicked ass.Only true TFF fans will appreciate them though.

Hiya :)
I looked at a few lyric sites and you're almost right LOL
"...pick up the pieces cold and wet,
and DRIVE them before the light- to clean."
I think as in take the cold wet pieces and drive them in front of the light to purify them I guess.
Love Tears for Fears - this one of my faves now x
