  • Nope. I did this a long time ago, and it messed up my red version. Now I can't encounter any wild pokemon at all. FUN!

  • MissingNo. was suppose to be the first Pokemon. And there was originally 153 Pokemon! There is no evidence yet of the evolution of MissingNo. But Game Freak drew th line and decided that Charmander was going to be the first Pokemon. MissingNo. was an Earth type Pokemon. The original form was like a rocky Dinosaur. It's name was Kyouryuu Iwa which meant Dinosaur Rock. Nintendo thought it was silly so, they deleted Kyouryuu Iwa and then the games had a programing error that spawned MissingNo.

  • @Zakscary99 Bulbasuar was the first Pokemon. Besides, not to be mean but how do you know your comment is true?

  • @BlueEyesFTW1 I thought Bulbasuar was Pokemon 003? Any how, I know someone from Nintendo and relatives an a relative that also works at Nintendo. It could be proven wrong. Just to let you know.

  • @Zakscary99 Ahh. That's cool that you someone from Nintendo. Who knows, it could be true.

  • @Zakscary99 accually there was supposed to be 190...

  • I(female symbol)E Punch?

  • Lol i remember this glitch back in the day but i don't think i ever captured it becouse i've heard it could fuck up your game but i still had a shitload of items i used to use this glitch to get hundreds of master pokeballs (the best pokeball in the game i think it was called that)

  • Wait a sec, who discovered the missigno glitch in the first place?

  • Missingno. was also used to replace pokemon that had been removed from the first gen (they were carried onto the 2nd gen). There were originally 190 pokemon in the 1st gen, but 39 were cut out.

  • "Ah another day of cathing Pokemon. Oh look, there's one now!"

    -MISSNGNO. APPEARED- (??)

"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?! D="

  • In pokemon diamond i used a game shark made a cheat that i had 497 master ball i could throw away a amount and the number i had left is used to have that pokemon i.d. come so i had an idea to throw away all my master ball and then encounter something and i was treated to a white box with no name

  • @y24x That's that games missing no. :P you can have that as your main pokemon if you use the walk through walls cheat at the beginning of the game and enter the grass without a pokemon

  • if im not mistaken in the yellow/blue and red versions you were not able to find magmar and electabuzz, after the glitch playing the game i was able to find both

  • You should talk about the mew glitch in red/blue/yellow.

  • Actually, Missingno fucked my file up and erased it. Lol.

  • @Takato142 trade missingno to pokemon yellow = death

  • @yuriofwind

    Hey, wait a minute!

If the data buffer pulls out the hex value of your name into the Pokemon database, couldn't that mean you could use specific names to catch certain Pokemon?

  • I don't know why the fuck the old man demo is important I never did this when i surfed along cinnabar!

  • i love your series! i was wondering if you haven't done it yet, i would like to request a Gaming Mysteries video of the Bad Eggs of the Pokemon series.

you are awesome! keep up the great work!

  • you dont have to catch him to duplicate items

  • Comment removed

  • @KratlundDK Oh, please. Its only 20 seconds long. I've seen some that take up half of the video ._.

  • @SuperSonicBreadman09 Lol yeah the biggest intro ive ever seen is 2 minutes.

  • You'd freak out at a living question mark if you were a pokemon trainer? One word: unown.

  • In pokemon Diamond/Pearl if you use an action replay to walk to the Lab before you get your pokemon the professor will say: Ooh it looks like you've already evolved it. I will give --- to you as a gift. Would you like to nickname ---? Clck yes and bam you have a bouncy question mark icon to nickname. Entering grass will freeze the game though. I havent explored with this glitch so much yet but hell give it a try.

  • i found one in all of the ds games but he/she/it/box had no name

  • You forgot the rumour in which Missingno. is a baby Kangaskhan.

  • @MrGiratinaORIGINAL what he said

  • I agree with the bouncing "??" thing. Giant lizard? Kill it.

Giant Beaver? Kill it. Giant bouncing "??"? RUN.

  • Have you watched Linkara's review about MissingNo ?

  • i thought missingno was a cubone without a skull?

  • I actually found the technical aspect of Missingno to be quite interesting.

  • I caught them all...(exept fof Missingo...)

  • I have looked at many videos of missingno and some state that missingno was a deleted evolution of cubone. I have heard that cubone or marowak was suposed to evolve into kanghaskhang (I spelled it wrong) if it was female but the Idea was scratched. does anybody know if this is true?

  • I was so scared when i encountered it one time. I shut off my game...

  • When I was younger and played this game I caught too many of those things and my game stopped working after that..

  • imagine your playing online and you see bouncing question marks at lvl 146... 3:34

    what do you do?

    ...

    FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

  • @ 2:47 i know why the number 128.........super mario 128 is haunting it so that also means Pikmin is also haunting it X3

  • HOLY SHIT THE VIDEO BEGAN WITH HELIX NEBULA! SOMEONE ELSE LISTENS TO ANAMANAGUCHI!

  • what is the song

  • hoen's missingno had a clear sprite.

    actual sprite = intentional

  • u dont have to catch it for it to up your sixth item i use to do it all the time

  • A PIECE OF THE WORLD WAS MISSING

  • my sister cought missingno. once (before the internet was very useful) and it actually damaged the game cartrige phiscally pretty creepy

and here's the real story behind missingno. missingno was going to be a (can't think of the name. you know those little black letter guys?) that WAS in the game in japan but in America it was turned into a compition in order to get him but it was still in the games programming and so if you got him in the game but not the tournament you got missingno

  • @gameboycolor47 you think we're retarded, right?

  • @Omnimatrix10 explain good sir

  • @gameboycolor47 you actually think that we'd believe what you said about missingno?

  • @Omnimatrix10 ok what's your theory on what the code is? (codeing in the game ot gameshark code)

  • @gameboycolor47 explain where you read or who told you about the tournament.

  • @Omnimatrix10 my sister who grew up durring this time and why the heck did i say tournament? (musta been REALLY tired) it was one of those preorder things like win a chance at this

  • When I did it, I ended up getting a Blastoise, under LV. 20! Now I had Charizard and Blastoise. :D

  • MissingNo. is now in the poke'ball in ssf2(fanmade smash bros game). When I first met MissingNo., I thought it was my PC's fault XD

  • what about bad egg??? i dont think you heard of it bad egg is like one of missingos freinds

    'M is missingos sister

  • My theory is that Missingno. is Kangaskhan's baby. Other than, you know, Cubone. Considering that it evolves into Kangaskhan...i guess that makes sense.

  • @FamilyGAMEGuy88 This is a theory I follow as well. Not only does it make sense, but Cubone looks very similar to baby Kangaskhans, and it says that to evolve it takes its dead mother's skull and places it on its head.

Oh, and I caught many Missing No.s, duped many different pokemon, and never ran into glitches on my Blue version. I don't know what's become of the cartridge since (I was an idiot and sold it at a garage sale a loooong time ago), but I'd assume it's full of corrupted data by now.

  • I think that Missingno is the code that was originally used to allow Marowak to evolve into Kangaskhan, but the developers of the game decided to not go along with that... But, since the game was almost complete, they moved it to an unused slot...

  • Bad Eggs can crash your game. Some people say that it's an effect of Missin-go having an ID in recent games: Anyone that doesn't actually exist. They did this so you encounter Missin-go, but as it has an ID, you can hack it in with a 100% encounter chance and if you have any spare party-slots you'll have a bad egg that'll crash your game after 1-4 steps.

I played a hacked version of Pearl that demonstrated it.

  • hey what about.... the bad egg some say thats missingo's lost body in the later games

    :P

  • Oh dude, i remember doing in the 90's, i always duplicated the rarecandy XD

  • you know you can battle the batman's riddler in emerald right? his pokemon of choice? None other then the bouncing question mark missingNo.

  • Missingno evolves because it has every code that Pokemon can have. It can learn moves and evolve, as well as learn TM's and HM's and level up. It evolves into the Pokemon it does because the level trigger, though different with every Missingno, will always remind the game that missingno is a pokemon, and will select any one of the 151 Pokemon in the game to evolve into, but is rarely outside of Kengeskahn, Ditto, or Rhydon because of the numbers being so relevant that the game thinks it's those.

  • dont get me wrong but when i was a kikd a catch that pokemon and it really corrupted my data and delete it my progress it sucks because i use to have mew

  • The reason the sixth item in your items menu becomes duplicated is that it's assigned the values that determine if a Pokémon has been seen or caught in the Pokédex. Specifically the value of Missingno is the same area where the quantity of your sixth item is stored. When you catch Missingno, it gives you 255 of the item, which is the same value for caught Pokémon, with seen Pokémon being 128.

  • @T0gekiss

I could also explain why Missingno evolves into the Pokémon it does, but I guess that'd be a bit too much.

  • you forgot to say that he is connected to lavender town and he makes kids go crazy? or is it just a rumor in my class?

  • Missingno. looks like a glitched up version of your character

  • OMG this is cool i heart about it but never got any help....

where do you catch it? with a hacked gameboy colour?

  • @Mrmasterfer he explained it all in the video -.-

  • If you are playing a gameboy game via the N64/Pokemon stadium DO NOT CATCH MISSINGNO. Doing so will make the gameboy game incapatible with the pokemon stadium. This is the one ill side affect of Missingno. and I learned it the hard way...

  • Yeah, I have ran into the bouncing question mark MissingNo. I did "flip shit" as you put it. I've never played pokemon ruby saphire or emrald since. And when I watch someone play it, and they pull out their pokedex, I turn away. It's that creepy to me.

I think they should have made it the lavander ghost.

  • on pokemon wiki there is a list of pokemon in seires 1 on of them said missingno phanpy and more series 2 pokemon

  • Actually his name is pronounced "Missing? No."

  • Comment removed

  • Everybody knows that the Pokemon anime will end with Ash catching Missingno, and Ash will end up in a coma from it!

  • @mrbisshie He'll wake up 40 years later in a daze, and he'll still be fucking 10 years old. Everyone else is dead though. The End.

    "POKEMON GOTTA CATCH EM..."

  • @Yuriofwind

ARGEED. and he'll have a stuffed pikachu as a pillow :o

  • @Yuriofwind Ash will be fucking 10 year old kids? 0-o

    oh the humanity DD:

  • @Yuriofwind Except for Professor Oak! :O

  • Or the bootleg version he will wakeup he is old then he gets killed by creepy black

  • @mrbisshie or even better: he ends up catching a Missingno and wakes up and finds out that his entire adventure happened in his head.

  • @natalman Haha! I remember that story!

  • @mrbisshie Or, he'll catch Ghost, kill everyone, and then Ghost will kill him...

    The End

  • @mrbisshie Or he'll wake up from one! i mean his journey is all in his mind so whats the point.

  • @mrbisshie Or that Missingno fucks up the world and creates an Ash Army to kill ghost which killed all humans on earth.

  • When I encountered Missingno. in Yellow, My character wouldn't move, and A billion of all characters were walking around Lavender Town.

  • rumor has it that mew has a chance at randomly appearing with missingno but its a 1% chance very slim alltho...you can catch mew useing the glitch in the cerulian city

  • @thelastwarriorify just do the mew glitch and you got a 100% chance to get Mew (Hence the name of it)

  • Missingno is the value linking Marowak to Kangashkan (Marowak evolved into Kangaskan). Cubone wears the skull of its mother on its head. uses one of its bones. Evolves into Marowak which then evolves into Kangaskan. Kangashkan dies and the young baby in its pouch pops out, rips out its skull, wears and becomes Cubone

  • @TooDuelForSchool ...Complete bullshit

  • @mattias1234 What a well-reasoned retort, its almost like you're not a complete and utter putrid fucking retard. it makes sense, is an interesting idea, and of course it isn't true. But since Missingno evolves into Kangashkan its not beyond the realms of possibility.

  • apparently i know more about "technical mumbo jumbo". the reason why the 6th item increases to 128 is its hexadecimal no. of SEEN for missingno. is the same as 6th item in your bag = 128

  • Missingno made my game screen go red and freeze and then my game was deleted

  • 128? i think Super Mario 128! Perhaps Missingno. is a Messenger telling us about the game that no one will ever get!

  • you forgot that missigno comes in the forms of the fossils skeleton's. and I think I heard that Missigno is this missing data of Kanghaskon (correct me if i'm wrong)

  • Must say, I love this kind of gaming mysteries the most. Something INSIDE a game RELEASED rather than beta things. Btw Yuri LOVE UR VIDS!

  • I have a Missingno. in my Pearl. I can't use the Bike, Surf or Fly because of it.

By the way, you forgot the whole Baby Kangaskhan story.

  • Hey what's the name of the song in this opening?

  • Fact! Missingno is in every generation of Pokémon, it's just 99% impossible to get missingno in GEN 4/5

  • From what I heard, the Minus World glitch from the original Super Mario Bros. was the most popular gaming glitch of all time.

  • Please do more Pokemon videos, my childhood was filled with schoolyard rumours and myths about this game.

  • I think im going to subscrube now at this point

  • I loved the technical info. I live for that stuff :D

  • I just think nintendo was having fun with it in ruby version :P

  • So i'm not the only one creeped out by the question marks lol

  • You don't have to catch missingno to get duplicated items. I belive the graphical glitches won't happen if you don't capture him, but it has been awhile.

You said the hex data of the players name is used to find pokemon in this glitch. Perhaps there are different missingno and some could erase your game and/or specific ones are the ones that evolve. Maybe.

  • What's the song in the intro called?

  • @ViperBroadcasting its helix nebula by Anamanaguchi

  • @thescubadivingzoo thanks! now i see i was just too stupid to scroll down a bit where the song name is postet anyway xD

  • So when the baby Kangaskhan (or cubone's) mother dies, the baby kangaskhan takes the skull and puts it over it's head and takes a random bone (most likely from a leg or arm) and becomes a Cubone, later evolving into a Marowak, which was originally meant to evolve into Kangaskhan, so the cycle goes on.

  • @StephenCartoonBoy I would try to argue this but I couldn't come up with a good one since it explains why the baby was never it's own pokemon. Although the last thing you said doesn't makes sense as that would imply that Kangaskhan must all die soon after giving birth for it to make sense.

  • The baby in Kangaskhan's pouch is basically a cubone without the skull over it's head.

  • I understand why it evolves into Kangaskhan. But it's a LONG explanation.

  • When you look this vid up it says its uploaded 1 year ago when it's 2012 haha.

  • pokemon beta/pokemon green?

  • @hero54123 Green isn't a beta. it was one of the two original Pokemon games the other being blue in Japan. I think they did have red as well released later but I could be wrong.

  • @ChibiKage89 Red and Green were released as a pair over there, followed by blue afterwards.

  • Me: *clicks the video*

    *Helix Nebula by Anamanaguchi plays*

    Mind = Blown

  • Is it sad that I knew exactly what you were talking about from 1:26 to 2:30?

  • parle tu le francais?

  • @xXOpticButtholeXx No I don't, not fluently anymore anyways. Now I'd appreciate if you'd stop spamming my videos with that question.

  • @Yuriofwind Don't worry, he doesn't speaks french, he is just trying to fuck with people ¬¬ ...

  • @Yuriofwind can you translate what he/she said to me

  • @pokeblox45newandtrue "do you speak french?" yea, its not that hard

  • @Yuriofwind Spreek je nederlands (just kidding)

  • @xXOpticButtholeXx Non, je ne parle pas Francais.

  • @Avizura Shut the fuck up!

  • @mattias1234 Wat.

  • @xXOpticButtholeXx Oui, je parle en francais et anglais. Francais est tres difficile!

  • Here are some rumours of Missingno.:

    - It was a debugging tool for items, because of it duplicating an item

    - It was a dump zone for the flying type prototype (bird)

    - It was a test on the double type engine

    - Marowak was supposed to evolve into Kangaskahn, but Nintendo made last minute changes to the game and since it was too hard to remove it, they just moved it to 'M Block

  • "Harmless"? Missingno crashed my game and deleted my save data. I kept training it until it's level went down to zero and then the screen went white, and that's how it happened.

  • missingno is not the evolved form of Marowak, it was supposed to be a baby kangaskhan or something I can't remember correctly but it's supposed that cubone is a baby kangaskhan whose mother died and is wearing the skull of it's mother.

The idea was that there would be two types of cubones, one with the skull helmet which evolved into marowak and a normal one that evolved into kangaskhan but then they scrapped it and they were too lazy to completely delet it from the game

  • @Yuriofwind Do you like old games or modern games such as the call of duty and halo series?

  • @jack555233 I love both old and new games. Of course I grew up with older games, I'm 21 if anyone is wondering xD. But I continued to play games through my teens and now in my adult stage of life and I'm still having a lot of fun. And yes I even like Call of Duty and Halo.

  • @Yuriofwind You sir are the gaming ambassador.

  • @Yuriofwind HOW COULD YOU

I THOUGHT YOU HATED CALL OF DUTYYYY >_<

  • @Yuriofwind It's rumored that Kangaskhan was supposed to be the last evolution for cubone but nintendo split the evolution thus creating missingno.Even if that rumor is false,Cubone and Kangaskhan have a conection. The Kangaskhan would die and it's baby would take the skull,Then turning into Cubone.

  • @Yuriofwind theres a lot of comments but thought id mention if it wasnt: in red version (mine at least) when i fed a low level missing no rare candy its little character sprite on the party menu changed to weird stuff and at level 100 it became a person and would have some weird looking animation. weird stuff. also! big up for the FFVII tech demo brought back memories of sitting there slack jawed in front of fucking babbages when i was like 9

  • @TypeZeta oops, rock candy not rare candy thats earthbound isnt it lol

  • 0:10

    OH GOD YOU'RE SO HANDSOME

    i dwarf in your light.

  • @mrpotatohead34 Is that sarcasm or am I actually handsome? o_o.

  • @Yuriofwind So handsome :)

  • one of the rumors is that it is the pre-evolved form of kangaskan which is why it makes sense that it can evolve into a kangaskan.

  • Mew can be caught with a similiar glitch that involves using fly right before a battle begins. Look it up, it works.

  • i always loved just going o cinibar and seeing what i could findand 1 time im not lieing i had just faught mewtwo and i found awild lvl 125 or so mewtwo that i caught gave rare candies until its level went from 255 to 1 so i had level 1 mewtwo =p pokemon red/blue u r so jacked up

  • ...Marrowak to evolve into kangaskhan! Cool, huh?

  • I know how MissingNo. was created! When Game Freak were creating Pokemon Red/Blue they actually intended Marrowak to evolve into kangaskhan. This was later scrapped for some reason. But they could not just take the evolution out of the game as they were too far into production of the game and they did not want to start again. So they put the evolution code into a place of Pokemon red/blue where it was thought impossible to reach without maybe hacking. So, MissingNo. Is basicaly the code for...

  • It might already be mentioned here, but it's been proven Missingno. IS suppose to be an unreleased pokemon. Originally red and blue were suppose to have about 200 pokemon or so (the unreleased ones later appearing in generation 2) but were removed due to storage constraints. Missingno. is what was left. You were close in saying Missingno. was rumored to be an unreleased bird type, since Ho-Oh was suppose to be released in red/blue but was later moved to gold/silver.

  • Missingno can turn into a mew if you leave it in you box and save allot.

  • And when I caught it my game acted like it never happened.

  • I caught a Missingno. In Pokemon SoulSilver by me entering a random Pokemon AR code, which made me run into A Lv. 0 nothing thingy.

  • Im not lying with this also, i did missingno a lot to get the multiple items and one time i dug up my game and i hit continue many years later and it said my game was corrupted and it was all lost :/

  • The 6th item has to do with messed up binary code

  • Missingno is my favorite Pokemon...period. like say if it took me 3 months to finally let the Pokemon craze then Missingno alone pushed another 3 months into my craze. (not say i had THAT little interest in Pokemon i actually loved it and still do thanks to Black/White.) but its a cool Pokemon granted it has SUPER high Attack power, less than average speed and like no defense or M.Defense and even funnier is its a Bird/Normal which Bird isnt a real type except in the Japanese version, LOVE it.

  • Don't you just have to SEE missingno for your 6th slot item to increase?

  • I actually found missingno in my pokemon yellow, wanted to put my magikarp in the daycare and it was already there

  • I know about 5 games that erased themselves from catching Missingno. The manga has Missingno being Lugia. I guess that's their explanation for it being a "bird" type.

  • 0:15 he reminds me of Gidieon Graves.

  • @MegaRayman100 I take that as a complement. Love Scott Pilgrim.

  • @Yuriofwind haha so do i!

  • @Yuriofwind whats the intro song?

  • @Yuriofwind HOLY SHIT. I JUST REALIZED THAT G IS THE 7th LETTER IN THE ALPHABET AND GIDEON IS THE SEVENTH EVIL EX! HOLY-

  • So if you're scared of bouncing question marks, then are you scared of Unown's "?" form?

  • like other pokemon you fight him her? it? box xD

  • this still doesnt make sense as i why does it look lie that and why did nintendo make that thing and that weird ghost marrowak and why cubone looks like baby kangashkan and why is it in every aingle portable pokemon game its even in pokemon black and white as a qeustion mark we will never no the answer to this madness

  • Maybe its 128 because of super Mario 128

  • In Platinum, an invisible, unnamed shiny PKMN would sometimes appear, after which nothing but Bulbasaurs would appear...

  • *Blink* You don't need to catch it to get the 6th Item to increase to 128 in volume. You just need to encounter Missingno...

  • My favorite rumor is that Missingno. is the evolved form of Marrowack. Look it up, it's pretty cool.

  • @Decklann It's true though, you can evolve missingo apparently.
