  • The plane that they actually used in the movie was the F-122 from Lockheed. I had the chance to be in graduate school with a group of very experienced engineers and scientists at UCLA. The president of our class was the Program Manager for the F-122. This was 1977-1979. The movie came out about 3 years later. GREAT fillm.

  • I have been wanting to watch this again for the logest time but you cant seem to find it online!!!!They all want to show only the dogfight-which in my opinion was the weakest part of the film.

  • Cold War cheese. If anything this movie is illustrative of how the likes of "The Heritage Foundation" look at the world. Totally out of touch with reality.

  • Thunderbird the Postman

    with Kevin Costner

    will rock you

  • anyone know where to get the music that kicks in at 0:43 shame it was'nt used in the movie itself

  • this Movie is based on the beginning of the creation of the 5th generation jet fughter planes or known as the Stealths and Now Stealths are born. Now theUnited States of America ,Russian Federation or Former USSR and now Peoples Republic of China.

  • I so remember watching this film when it came out! One of Clint's best!

  • I was enjoying this film, when the hard disc on my tuner "personal recorder" for some reason failed to record the last 10-15 minutes of this movie. So i was left with no other alternative than to choose my own alternative ending. I chose the ending where Clint flew back to the the Bishjuk base and raped the guts out of the russian pilot and then he got aids..

  • An excellent movie. You must watch this. Only £2.99 on play.com at the moment. Free delivery. An excellent Christmas stocking filler.

  • There is going to be a new movie where Russians steal an american B2 - Spirit stealth bomber. The movie is called Mozilla.

  • @501stadvisor jajajajajajaa

  • Wow, this is like a bad human version of Star Fox.

  • not without reason that movie was filmed in 1982. This year, the Americans released the F-117, and the film gave the Russians to think that the Americans have something similar to Firefox ..... Now I just see him on our tv

  • Talk about relieving the whole plot.......

  • @TheSomaCruz16 Whats fake about it? It's a real movie.

  • I thought it was MOZILLA Firefox The Movie and thought wtf?

  • The narrator is Optimus Prime rofl

  • poor copy/ upload

    dis de fail

    .'

  • Funny... I'm watching the Firefox, on Firefox xD

  • @Markcy1989 That was amazingly funny.

  • Wtf they named an Airplane after a web browser?

  • @MisterAlexadner lol when they filmed "Firefox" the web didn't even exists!

  • @jerrymail They knew it would. Firefox was the meanest killing machine and quite futuristic. However it is still trying to kill ie.

  • @MisterAlexadner Lmao you being serious?

  • epic movie

  • Anyone else remember the 'teaser' trailer for this film? No narration, just a cloudscape with a glimpse of the plane. Then a weird 'hyperspace' effect that formed a portrait of Clint Eastwood in his black flying helmet.

  • I thought that sounded like Peter Cullen. Haha. Loved this movie as a kid. Great Cold War suspense film.

  • Firefox trailer... narrated by Optimus Prime.

  • 1982

  • bad ass film

  • The plane, Firefox, the movie, horrible, The acting, Unwatchable.. Coming (and leaving) quickly from your movie theatre.

  • one of the best web browsers ever created.

  • The trailer is nothing like the movie, the first 90% is just trying to steal the plane, the actual action takes place at the end, i disagree with peeps who dont like this movie, for what it was, the movie is awsome ..the special effects are not very goood but , like i said most of the movie is just trying to steal the plane, and Clint again does some great acting. I recommend it for any 80's movie fans

  • Good movie, but definatly the weakest of the 2 novels. The sequal 'Firefox down' would have made a much better movie. Maybe if they did a screenplay combining the 2 stories it would have been better ie more happening

  • @MadMikeAU yup, it makes me wonder why didn't Eastwood get the rights to produce the sequel too. I loved visualizing how the climax scene would have turned out.

  • the effects are atrocious ....

  • great cold war movie

  • Mozilla the Movie

  • @AdamWeith IDIOT. Firefox is a russian jet

  • Clint Eastwood in great new bio (All About Jeffrey Hunter) at amazon!

  • I got this movie on RCA VideoDisc.

  • the novel was created during the 1970s regarding NATOs espionage work on the mig-25 foxbat. the fictional mig-31 was what the nato thought of the mig-25 until in 1976 victor bilyenko of PVO (soviet air force) defected with the mig-25.this movie is a tribute to those Red Dawn Era people that anything is possible.but not when there are limitations in Human capabilities and thinking.

  • They should have made him steal Internet Explorer 7 instead lol!

  • SNAAAKE!!!!

  • Could be worst. Russia could have gotten a SDF-1 and made thier Firefox into a Veritech as seen in the series ROBOTECH.

  • FIREFOX reminds me of the Cobra night raven.....

  • The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird reminds me of the Cobra Night Raven... and the Blackbird's a real plane!

  • Best cold war movie ever!!!!!!!!!!! So under-rated!

If you know anything about russia during the early 80s, you know what a suicide mission that would have been...but he pulls it off!!!! Great story...even if it is fiction.

  • Very true who in thier right mind would pull off such a suicide mission like that during the cold war during Soviet times. But i love this movie as it is very pro american and anti communist at the same time a defeat for the Soviets.....Hell yeah!!!!

  • It should have been reversed, a soviet agent infiltrating a USAF base and stealing an F-117 or SR-71 Blackbird, hell even the F-22 prototype, that would have made more sense.

  • For god sakes why would it have made more sense. That movie came out during the cold war and the Soviet Union was falling apart.History was forever changed proud to be an american fuck communisim!

  • ROCK ON!

  • Enjoy an ignorant slavery under democracy!

  • @Nueroactive Why don't you mind your own buissness!!!!

  • YOU COMMIE BASTARD!

  • At least someone hear knows what they are talking about...Rock on seka1986!!!!!!

  • Orphanages do take better care than on the street american orphans used by american Oliver Twists managers. I lived through the Oliver North management. Break it down...Your comment bastard=fatherless, commie=care for all orphanage or group that tries to ensure the survival of all. But I did have a father and he taught me to care for others.

  • @lape2002

Yeah because those are real planes and not fictional like the "Firefox..." I mean where is the sense in sci-fi movies?!

  • @paukenkiger its one of those "guilty pleasure" movies for me.. :)

  • @paukenkiger I would have just asked the friendly scientists about the secrets.

  • @paukenkiger The movie takes FOREVER to get off the ground. It's a dry action movie that drops the audience at the end, "oh wow, he didn't land with a hero's welcome or promotion back at home, he's still in the air in a stolen Soviet fighter!"

  • @paukenkiger , it's one of those overlooked Clint Eastwood gems!

  • Listen to the voiceover guy....it's Peter Cullen, voice of Optimus Prime!!!

  • The plane was named after the browser.

  • You are joking aren't you?

  • I think that Firefox plane resembles a Sukhoi T-4 or SU100.

  • I think that Firefox the plane resembles a Stealth Bomber- Night Hawk, in my opinion

  • Sci-fi

    Mig-25, Mig-31, Firefox (today Mig-41)

    Reality

    Su-25, Su-37, Su-47 (Berkut)

    Firefox = (almost) Berkut

  • I just bought this movie for $3.00 brand new @ BIG LOTS. Slow movie at first but finally gets going. Kinda like "Star Wars" at the end! The Soviets remind me of the management at work!

  • Funny. You like ending, but I always thought the movie went down hill once he got into the plane.

Up until then its such a great dark spy thriller.

I always hated the end because it was an obvious Star Wars rip-off.

  • FireFox was a fantastic movie!!! Clint Eastwood was impressive in the role. Planes were exciting.

  • The Soviets copied or were 'inspired too:

    B-1 Lancer = TU-160 Blackjack

    A5 Viglante = Mig 25 Foxbat

    Space Shuttle = Buran

    Concorde = TU-144

  • since 1982

  • Clint Eastwood did a really good job of reworking the (somewhat dull, nondescriptive) novel. This was one of the coolest-looking movie planes, EVER!

Funny to see an '80s Cold War flick as a 'period' movie... :o

  • I'd love to see this movie, "Clint Eastwood" and "B-movie" don't usually appear in the same sentence. Plus, this is the birth of the techno thriller, one of my favourite film genres.

  • I loved this movie, its based on the MiG-25 affair.

  • i thought this was the browser.

  • Me too. I thought it would be some spoofy thing

  • Just watched this last night.......

  • Firefox is very good.

  • clint really doesn't get the credit he deserves for his acting in this film.

  • The American's stealing a Russian jet?!?!?

    Nah!!!

    (MiG-25 -> F-15)

    (Yak-141 -> F-35)

  • f22?

  • MiG-25 -> F-15 -> F-22

The Raptor would be a super evolved version of the Foxbat. [No doubt this Eastwood film inspired Raptor's design as well.]

Actually, both America and Russia borrow each others designs and pimp them out. After America came out with the Tomcat, Fighting Falcon, and Hornet, Russia put some of those designs into the Flanker and Fulcrum.

  • Have you actually seen a MiG 25? It's essentially a fast box of pig iron and vacuum tubes with rockets. :] Poor F-15 does not deserve to offended like this.

  • lol

But, if they stayed true in the movie, there'd be no plot.

There is nothing in Russia worth stealing except their women, caviar and diamonds I think.

  • Crappy special effects, but quite a good movie.

  • I remember watching this movie on AMC it was great!

  • "...better ice up a cold one!"

    --Mitchel Gant.

  • Ahh wanna to watch it soo much

  • me 2

  • I will buy it one day, soon I have to say. But you live too far. I dont know how can I send you a video rip version or a dvd. But I would help XD Greetings from Russian goth boy XD

  • good movie, bad end :(

  • Fire rearward missiles dammit!

  • LOL

  • You've got to think in Russian. Do you think you can do that, Mr. Gant?

  • That is the greatest pull I have probably ever read on the tube. Hat's off my good man

  • For its time, this was a good movie. Its a pity that hollywood didn't make a movie out of the novel "Firefox Down" which was a sequel

  • Yeah, that was a bummer. I loved reading firefox down. good closure to the firefox operation

  • I Remember the Atari Laser Disc Arcade game Quite a Cool game

  • firefox internet browser rules

  • Better than Top gun.

  • Top Gun, shit Tom Kruize is the biggest fag I have ever seen. Little wheezel.

  • I agree with you.

  • Thanks. Goof Ball Thomas Cruise. What a looser name.

  • Firefox 70mm six-track Doby stereo is one best sounding films from 1982.

  • how dare does the american government STEAL something from russia. they had no right to do so. this makes me hate my country even more

  • Dude relaks all countys need to steal to keep Weapon balans beetween countrys

  • richie- fuckoff

  • genie0390, fuck ur mom

  • richie-take my advice and fuckoff

  • my advice get a life

  • Good movie. But the quality of this video sucks...

  • you right Star..this movie kicked asses

  • Cool! This must be like the Hunt for Red October only with a unique plane instead of a submarine and we are stealing it instead of having a defecting Russian do it. I am going to watch this movie for the first time all the way through a few minutes from now on AMC.

  • oops my bad, but still it was a pretty damn cool fighter jet don't ya think?

  • i watched this movie, it kicked ass! MACH 5!!

  • star112345, according to that movie, it's max speed is Mach 3+ n it was seen carrying AA-6 Acrid missiles

  • You said it dude. I recently watched it again and recorded it on my DVR while on AMC Channel. I love to watch it again and again. It's even taught me how to think in Russian.

  • God, I miss the Cold War. Movies like this bring back good memories of the Eighties.

  • don't be nostalgic...we're entering into a new one

  • I like how you can use tabs.

  • Clint goes Eastward!

  • the prototype of the MiG Firefox does exist

  • I like this film..i am a finnish guy..i would love to fly jas gripen.mig 29.iLjushin.Tupolev and a mig - 29

  • lol i thought it was Mozilla Firefox

  • me 2

    LOL

  • Gawd, I remember seeing this trailer a couple of times in '82 and being bored stiff with it (it wasn't for kids). I'm still bored now looking at it but it sure brings back memories.

  • Have you read the book named Mission firefox?

  • I thought Mozilla Firefox!!! ;D

  • haha me too!

  • rockhard90s, I did too XD

  • One of the most incredible under cover operations in history. Karl Nemetski gives Clint Eastwood's Firefox 5 NOVA Stars!!!!!

  • ...queste macchine sono dei veri mostri.....

  • Indeed it's some kind of wetern propaganda but it admits that russians have beautiful birds

  • I am a Korean

I'd like to steal US airforce F-22

  • HA! the russians wish they had one of those

  • They have soon :D

    This was pure propaganda movie

  • Maybe next time edit this with a Mac?

  • *marks the above comment he's replying to as idiotic*

  • clint eastwood is the best XD

  • They don't make movies like this anymore.

  • Yes they do. This is same US brainwshing propaganda shit

  • never saw

  • You are missing out. It's an older movie, you may find it available for rental at a video store, or if your lucky for sale. One of the greatest Clint Eastwood movies ever.

  • steve mcqueen and mr eastwood were both cool as hell im 34 and i can remeber growing up on them

  • I'm the best there is.....I say this a lot but no one takes me as seriously as when Clint says it.....

  • Another of my favorite movies from the 1980's.

  • Great movie! Soviet Union ruled!

  • It`s a great movie... I enjoyed when I was kid...!! and today looks very well....

  • The voiceover guy sounds a lot like a younger Peter Cullen, aka Optimus Prime.

  • The scene where he first throttles up to take off on the runway is sweet! The sound of those engines!

  • This movie is great. One of my favorites ever.

  • Same here, despite it not being regarded as one of Clint's best, I liked the movie very much.

Would've been cool if they'd done a sequel movie of the novel Firefox Down.

  • It's one of Clint's most underrated films. Critics hated it when it came out, saying it was too slow (until the final chase). Screw the critics...

  • Screw the critics indeed...this movie sure does rock as hell

  • It's a great film...really tense and scary throughout...

  • It looks like Macross Plus ripped off Firefox. The YF-21 was also thought-controlled.

  • Anyone has a clip of the scene from where thw Jewish sicentist blow up the hanger to when Eastwood it airborne? If so, please show it. that is one of the best scene in the movie. :) thx a million

  • This movie was the RAGE!!!! It did justice back in the 80's

  • thats a cool preview for its age

ive never actualy seen the advert before

anychance you could mail me this advert so i can use the footage when i make another AW vs FF :)
