Yea, that sucks, but his methods seem about right, at least the neck snapping part. I've worked in a few labs and that's the officially humane way you kill a rodent - press down on the back of the neck and jerk their tail to snap their spine.
Other than outright banning the fur trade, I'm not sure how they would make it any less inhuman for the critters.
@uxnhoj123 Fur trade could make use of the hundreds of roadkill victims for one. Sure not everything hit can be salvaged (weather is a huge factor in this), but you can get some amazing fur from roadkill. I use fur as reference material for wildlife art. My fur is sourced from roadkill, so it's not from animals killed intentionally for fur. The other huge improvement would be to give them space and stimulus to prevent "cage madness"

Sure not everything hit can be salvaged (weather is a huge factor in this), but you can get some amazing fur from roadkill. I use fur as reference material for wildlife art. My fur is sourced from roadkill, so it's not from animals killed intentionally for fur. The other huge improvement would be to give them space and stimulus to prevent "cage madness"

I'm sure that more than 5 chinchillas lost their lives to this fur trade business, if it really is a fur trade business. 5 chinchillas wouldn't make a very big fur coat. This may have been a chinchilla hotel for all we know. The director clearly cut out quite a bit of material here.
